(227) The Duderstadt Class 

This is definately the most beautiful ship to come out of the Picard series. It harkons back to the TMP era but successfully moulds it into something that fits the start of the 25th century in a way that in my opinion the Neo-Connie failed to do as well

that is one angry Starship... love its design. Intimidating and unique. Great story with it too.

Good job on this one. It was cool that the name of this class was named after Doug Drexler's late wife. Rest In Peace to Dorothy.

When I first saw this ship I thought it was the 25th Century NX Class Refit just like the Gargarin is the 25th century Shepard Class

Probably my favourite Picard era ship. It’s got those near perfect circular saucer of the Connie, that clean tapering of 24th century vessels like the sovereign and intrepid and the weird ‘kitbash’ look for the secondary hull. I’ve always loved the weird background ships from TNG and I’m glad that even in the age of cgi they still harken back to them while creating designs that actually have a good look to them.

I love this ship, it looks like a hornet to me. It’s exactly what I want for Star Trek moving forward, ship designs that are out of the box with ties to the past but not retrained by the past. I loved this video, keep them coming.

Thank you for this video detailing the Duderstadt. The starships of Picard season 2 and 3; the Sagan, the Titan-A, and this beautiful ship all reflect a conformity of design with the differences between them being magnified beautifully to make them their own unique ships. I hope we get to see this class and many others if Star Trek: Legacy ever happens.

Looks like a phaser with a saucer on top. I love this look. I own 2 of them in STO. One is still in the box. lol

Good looking ship, I did a similar style for my TOS Pathfinder Class, (non canon) Scout Cruiser. Raised area on the back of the saucer with two warp nacelles, with extra sensor pallets and defector pod on a modified neck.

Bad ass design, Has a retro look, but modern. I'd be interested in seeing a video on the Wasp class too.

I kinda wish this design had been for a ship for the star fleet Corp of engineers, given its resemblance to the Seabees mascot with its ventral mounted “stinger” Because barring its resemblance to a venomous insect…. Its also looks more like a male dog in the process of dry humping….. I just want a reason why the connection between hulls has been shifted so far aft

Love the video and the ship from the top Doesn’t change the fact that I’m still not fond of her side profile. I would love to see a refit with a more traditional and streamlined engineering hull.

I never understand why the neck section was always added, wouldn'd it be more tacyical to have a smaller and less vulnerable cross section, also it would be easier, use less material and less time consuming if they just attach the engineering hull and the deflector dish right onto the main hull like the sovereign?

This ship class, which I hereby nickname the Doodlebug, kind of reminds me of the NX-01 refit that never quite got off the ground. ... Also, the way its secondary hull's mounted it looks very, very happy to see us.

I love the Ranger class from STO, and this looks like a 25c update to that spaceframe.

I don't know why exactly, but I don't like where Picard took ST canonically. Him being android, Mars destroyed and the fleet mode thing especially. Like Starfleet wouldn't see the danger of such a system. 'We can fly faster than light but don't see danger in 1 ship to control the whole." Like what a bunch of dopes. IDK.

I'm sorry, But I swear that the Engineer hull looks like it was met to be modular in that it can use multiple Engineer hulls for different missions.

I'm glad this is being added to Star Trek Online though a little disappointed IMO it would have been a perfect 25th century Federation Frigate class (The Federation's current playable Frigates are either an upgraded 22nd century class or variants of the Miranda class implying a 23rd or early 24h Century origin. They're fun ships (well the two I have access to) but I would love either a verified 23rd century Federation Frigate for me to make a TOS era character for or a 25th Century frigate so I could give it to my 25th century character then use a Bozeman (Currently used by my 25th century Fed but its one of the Miranda variants so IMO it would fit a TOS character well) for my TOS alt (My discovery era alt has the 22nd century Frigate)

Star Trek ostensibly is the future of our own timeline, which means that Timothy Zahn's Star Wars trilogy exists there, and yet, even with the disaster of the Katana Fleet showing exactly how bad an idea it could be to control link a whole battalion of capital ships together, the Federation proceeded with the Fleet Formation Function? Where are in-universe nerds when you need them? I hope there was at least one wheezy basement dweller there in the future telling Starfleet command 'I told you that would happen'. Oh, and that is a lovely ship design, BTW the way.

10 Torpedo Tubes 8 Forward and only 2 Aft? I would have made it so there's either 4/4 or put at least 2 Tubes on each side but im no Engineering Officer so I'm most likley not seeing something they did see... 🤷
