Been seeing ALOT of comments on high velocity ammo lately, specifically talking about the transonic barrier...the claim is the bullet becomes unstable at or right under the speed of sound for a 1200fps+ rated ammo, that's around 50yd, which is far from true the bullet is already unstable to begin with if your groups open up tremendously from shooting decent (MOA) at closer ranges less than 50 yards ....so I setup with my Ruger Precision at 75yd on the bench using CCI Minimag 40gr (1235fps rated) to show velocity/ammo type doesn't matter, what actually matters is consistency...headspace, bolt straightness, firing pin striking case exactly same place everytime .... As you see me single loading, adjusting bolt, and indexing the firing pin every shot... UPDATE: Since I was asked on Facebook about the velocity, the 40gr CCI Minimag are actually going 1200fps at muzzle and would be transonic at 35yd 770' elevation

Check the bolt face and chamber face for burrs. Check the barrel nut torque. My thoughts is your headspace is to tight for the rim thickness on the ammo you are wanting to shoot. I’m thinking putting shims between the barrel and receiver is better than manipulating the bolt. That’s what I’m going to do when I get one and it has the same problem. Appears to me you are having to put to much force to lock down the bolt the you should have to. A bind at the front of the bolt would kick the rear out.

What scope do you have on that rifle?

I don't know where all of this B.S. about .22lr ammo being unstable at transonic velocities... Back about 48 years ago, I used my Marlin 39-A topped with a Leupold M8 4x scope to shoot ground squirrels and rock chucks out to 120 yards, intentionally using head shots. I very rarely missed. I used either CCI mini mag 36gr. H.P. or American Eagle by Federal 36gr. H.P. and they both provide 1/4 in. 3 shot groups in that rifle at 50 yards. Ruger 10-22 Sporter rifles back then would do the same thing and were quite popular! Now days, I shoot a CZ Royal and use CCI Velocitors in it, shooting out to 450 yards with very good results. That rifle groups those into .5 inch at 100 yards with the occasional flyer, which can be expected. Many times, it shoots better than that at 100. I also have a CZ Trainer that likes CCI mini mags, 36gr. H.P. and shoots those like they are target ammo! I don't think much of this notion that this ammo won't shoot well past a certain distance or velocity level, I think that is all bullshit and the "experts" expounding this theory are full of it. But, that is just what my 60+ years of shooting and hunting experience have taught me. Anyone can establish what the facts are by simply doing what you just did, shooting it and proving that the theory and those expounding it are full of BS.

Exactly I'm the same way!!! I don't get where people say this either...but I'm the one with BS videos hahah from what I'm told lol 😂

@@STKO2011 This BS theory will probably live on with all of the neophytes that have entered the shooting "sports" in the last few years... That and the YT "Influencers" that have no idea what the hell is going on that buy into such nonsense without proving the bottom line to themselves and settling this BS once and for all!

Yeah its so funny people say that, like where's the proof...I reached out to Applied Ballistics and they never heard of it either, and also said high velocity ammo can be accurate and group well too at long range , makes no sense why people think that...well I guess it does to be a salesman

@@STKO2011 I think you nailed it! It's about soliciting views at the expense of truth and facts, placing controversy in the forefront and "pushing" it like "Salesman" do... It's much the same thing with all of these expensive "chassis" in my opinion to. A well bedded receiver is a well bedded receiver regardless what that well bedded receiver is bedded into! If spending $1,500.00 on a "chassis" just to shoot the same groups that you were shooting in a "rifle stock", but it makes one feel better about one's setup, or that one's chassis now provides a means to add the shooting aids that particular shooting sports/games require to be competitive, then by all means, if that is where one gets their kicks and finds happiness and peace of mind, fine! But don't try to sell me on that notion, I know better! :)
