Not really, I mean I'm shooting cards on edge at 150 yards in wind with $100 gun a few shots apart and hitting 22lr cases at 175yd back to back??? On video and using factory guns doing it with CCi SVs ...especially the fly swatter challenge 15 hits out 25 in under 3 minutes with oem 10/22 so definitely not the table just pure skill
That's ONE (1) of the excuses that people use when they can't shoot accurately😂 If you're good you're good and if you're not you're not, no matter which excuse someone wants to use💥🤣
STKO Great content & interesting points thank you,! this does explain why why my grandad kept his .22 amo warm by putting on top of the hot water cylinder at certain times of the year, the day before he went to the range , he said it inproved his shooting, in wet conditions? Kind regards JOB
The humidity on the day affects the burn-rate of the gunpowder inside a sealed bullet inside a combustion chamber... If you had said temperature of the day then maybe I might have listened. But you are literally saying that your logfire burning inside your house will be affected cos its raining outside.... Did I get that right.
Spot on! I would love you thoughts on rim signing and matching the shells you use to particular weapon. I personally measured the rims of 500 CCI Win Mag 40 grain cartridges. They varied from .035” to .055” with my19/22 set up shooting the most accurate with cartridges between .040” to .045.” Now I do not do companion. I’m an old country boy who likes to shoot. My first rifle was a 22.
Well wish I could help you but I don't sort rim thickness...I found it not worth the time, but if there is a difference in your gun it could be sensitive to temperature or moisture
@@Brianbri-nq3cc Comedy doesn't need to explain the joke to get a laugh. STKO is providing us with his shooting history, so we don't need to waste our money on thousands of rounds to start approaching his ability. He is decreasing our learning curve. Or you can choice to believe this is all made up and experiment yourself shooting lots of different loads and brands.
That and cci standard vel are my go to ammo. In my experience some lots of norma tac are more consistent and more accurate than some lots of cci standard. Another thing I like about the Norma is it’s supposedly got a better BC than standard velocity despite it having a semi flat point. Still the most accurate 22lr ammo I’ve ever shot was a lot of cci standard vel.
I wonder if expansion has anything to do with it. Most things expend when they're heated, and contract when they're cold. Does that have an effect on the barrel, or the cartridges & projectiles?
Possibly but my recent video I just uploaded after this was on par with results I've gotten in different climates , only difference is I'm getting a flier now on the 3rd or 4th shot that strays
IMO CCI Standard Velocity is the best practice ammo for target shooting especially at 50 yards and under with both pistols and rifles. It is also the most popular at the ranges I attend with all the target shooters for practice ammo
@@STKO2011 I use a lot of it in all my 22LR rifles and pistols. I also love the CCI Suppressor 45 grain HP in pistols. I shot the best handgun group of my life with that round, a .300'' 5 shot group at 25 yards with my S&W model 41 & my Trijicon RMR. The CCI Suppressor is good for backyard varmints inside 50 yards. I also like the 1080 fps CCI segmented HP for quick kills on crows and woodchucks
I shoot .22 bench matches...outdoors. Believe me, temperature does affect poi . Not consistency necessarily. We shoot year round, in the evening. In the winter as temperatures drop, your zero changes significantly .
switch the barrel, switch the barrel, fact fact fact, besides ammo differences barrel changes from factory SO SO barrel to a true precision valquartsen or a precision fedderson barrel do make a total difference in accuracy! this is a fact coming from a machinest that changes barrels and shoots matches!
James, thanks for all the info. What are your thoughts on the effects of % Relative Humidity on the inside of the chamber and bore. I understand it has minimal effects on a bullet in fight but i feel there is more going on in 22lr with humidity in the chamber and bore. I see different in MV where temperature are the same with different RH values and it produces different velocities. Any thoughts ?
It varies from different chamber sizes some barrels prefer drier air versus humid moist air...that's why it'd be best to track it like I did, so you know when to shoot certain ammo or even different barrels
@@STKO2011 Thanks James, Yes, i have been monitoring my velocities, group sizes and environmentals and im picking up inconsistencies, i feel land and groove, and chamber diameters play a lot in cold bores, especially from SAMMI vs CIP standards. Im in British Columbia and we are just entering our warmer months with higher humidity values, be interesting what i pullout of the next few months shooting at different temperature and absolute humidity regimes. A lot to consider and difficult at times to analyze with so many factors at play, hard to sort out the static at times but its 22lr. Always nice to take a deep dive into this, well keep up the great work and i enjoy listening to your work and thoughts. You always keep me thinking!! Thanks, Dave
No my abilities are pretty self explanatory? I have 1800+ scores in ARA Factory class 50yd benchrest with a Factory 10-22 and I have several shots unedited hitting cards on edge at 150yd + ...walking from target to bench and using only 1 magazine with called sighters...it's called skill
Eley isn't that much more expensive unless you only buy the match stuff. They have standard grade round nose, HPs, etc, that are much cheaper and at least in my rifles are all more accurate than CCI.
I'm glad you've done the research. But I have to disagree with you. My stock CZ 457 LRP does not like CCI standard velocity it does like Eley team and match and tenex that shoots between 1063-1076fps year round in Louisiana, I'm sub moa at 100 yards and a .31" at 50 yards. And about three and a half inch group at 200 yards. You do want to find what speed your barrel likes. My tricked out 10/22 likes tac 22 match. Which is fine for tree rat sniping or golf balls at 100 yards. Some of my single shot 1960 era 22s like stingers of all things year round. Now that being said does temperature and wind make a difference? Absolutely both do, but if you want consistent shooting you have to buy ammo that is known for its consistency and that your barrel likes. Course this is just my opinion also
That's awesome!! But unfortunately doesn't work like that in the midwest especially Indiana where we can vary 100 degrees from winter to summer easily...my budget semi autos, 10/22 carbine and Mossberg 702 get sub 1/2" groups at 50yd and hit old business cards on edge or 22lr casings out to 175yd back to back within one 10rd mag with called sighters on video here on the channel, easily sub moa at 100yd with CCI SV not to mention the 1800 + scores I'm getting in ARA Factory class Target benchrest at 50yd with my 10-22 Carbine
Wow.... Well you also said Aquila was the most accurate ammo, but you didn't mention it at all! 😏Though you said it was a bit dirtier than most! But you tested it as the most accurate! 🤔
Your statements about summer time and winter time gas make zero sense. Gunpowder does not depend on atmospheric oxygen to burn, it creates its own oxygen where it needs it by breaking down the gunpowder. Temperature can be a factor but the rest is buzzword bingo.
Didn't say it depends on it ...if you actually heard what I said ...water attracts water ...more water in the warmer air ,which goes back into the barrel after the smoke has cleared depending on the temperature and humidity causing more or less buildup in the chamber
I shot 10 different types of 22 Lr ammo, 10 rds. of each, 2 five rds groups, in my Lithgow 101, 50 rds then 50 rds. why did the Eley Force, and the Federal Ultra Match shoot better than the rest my gun doesn't know which ammo is which? CCI standard diid ok but not like the hi end stuff.
Thanks but I just want people to think outside of the box or for themselves...cause we both know alot of people just follow blindly and get mad because their results aren't up to par and here I am doing what I am doing, holding back most of the time ....
As much as I'm really interested in what he has to say, he needs to stop trying to read his cell phone and chopping up his delivery. Also sound & mouth are not synced. This is painful to watch & listen to...
