And dont forget I am doing it with a stock 10/22 and CCI SV right behind legit bolt action match guns? I know my results of every match and knew what I did and didnt do that specific day
@@STKO2011 I congratulate you for competing, but your claims about "guys can't keep up" is false. They are all beating your factory gun with their factory guns.
Not with a bone stock 10/22 and budget ammo they're not...other guys wouldn't even attempt what ive done, especially if im trailing everyone else to prove a point which obviously i have
It boils down to air density. That's why long range precision shooters use altitude, temperature, barometric pressure, and humidity in their calculations to ensure hits. The longer the range, the more critical the data.
James, thanks for all the info. What are your thoughts on the effects of % Relative Humidity on the inside of the chamber and bore. I understand it has minimal effects on a bullet in fight but i feel there is more going on in 22lr with humidity in the chamber and bore. I see different in MV where temperature are the same with different RH values and it produces different velocities. Any thoughts ?
It varies from different chamber sizes some barrels prefer drier air versus humid moist air...that's why it'd be best to track it like I did, so you know when to shoot certain ammo or even different barrels
@@STKO2011 Thanks James, Yes, i have been monitoring my velocities, group sizes and environmentals and im picking up inconsistencies, i feel land and groove, and chamber diameters play a lot in cold bores, especially from SAMMI vs CIP standards. Im in British Columbia and we are just entering our warmer months with higher humidity values, be interesting what i pullout of the next few months shooting at different temperature and absolute humidity regimes. A lot to consider and difficult at times to analyze with so many factors at play, hard to sort out the static at times but its 22lr. Always nice to take a deep dive into this, well keep up the great work and i enjoy listening to your work and thoughts. You always keep me thinking!! Thanks, Dave
Just got my Barra 1100z .22 and your explanation of how to set the hammer spring is the best I have watched. All the ones I have watched never say where to START the hammer spring. You do.. thanks for the clarity. One gentleman was saying to turn the spring up or down. Well logically, the screw only goes in or out. Another gent was saying to turn it in or out from the factory setting. Well, that is assuming that the fellow at the bench putting the gun together, screwed it in correctly and the trip across thousands of miles of ocean, unloading crates, putting on trucks, sitting in warehouses and then delivery truck drivers.. is the screw where it needs to be? Your explanation to start with the screw flush with the back is the best so far.
Yea the mossberg plinkster 702 or the Rossi RS22 are pretty much same gun, come from same factory just rebranded in the US, great accurate and fun little guns
Not bad. I've got some challenges out if your interested shoot me a email ill send them, i have a new 100 yard and 50 yard challenge, plus a 3 target challenge with a trophy going till the 8th
Thanks sucks my camera took a crap but it is what it is...shoottokilloutdoors@gmail.com, if it's something interesting I might try it but this coming week I'm preparing for an ARA Factory class match and with no 2nd camera it'll be nice to take a little break
@STKO2011 yeah that sucks I haven't even got a second camera yet, bet that match will be fun these challenges are good practice. I just been doing local club matches. I sent my new challenges over
Nice !!! Thanks, yea I thought about joining the local club for matches but the rules are different than ARA and they provide ammo...CCI SV only and we both know how that is...gun will shoot it great one day then come competition time can't hit anything haha
Im about to do some testing with auto match and tac22 with the wifes 10/22, have you done anything to yours like free float or trigger work? I polished the trigger on ours real good and did some spring work. It's still all factory it went from 7lb pull to 3lb
Right on! Only thing I've done is added an extended buttplate since I have broad shoulders ...other than that I've just gotten used to shooting the OEM out of the box configuration since 2013 when I bought the Carbine new and I've tested 3 different Carbine barrels and they all shoot the same, bought 2 from ebay for personal testing over the years
@STKO2011 that's definitely some good results, I had to work on the tigger tho, mine is 1lb on my bolt-action, the 7lb on the 10/22 always feels like the safety was on or I was gonna break the trigger. Guess I just got used to the light weight and everything else feels way to heavy now
@@brianfox87 yea I got some lighter triggers ...but I feel for the wall in the stock guns and just pull it almost like a timed jerk...cause if I do a slow squeeze the gun will bounce everywhere and throw the shot making it very inconsistent, I've had plenty of practice doing this method cause I shoot break barrel airguns too for over 25 years and the triggers aren't great but I've used that method for years and it overlaps into firearms
I've watched your videos for a few years and fully believe you are absolutely honest in your videos. That 10/22 is by far the best grouping factory stock Ruger 10/22 standard carbine I've ever seen. I've never shot 1 this accurate from the factory and I have shot a ton of them and owned many of them. Please send this video and offer to send the rifle to Ruger so they can understand what they did correctly with this one. I always replace the trigger and have replaced the barrel in several of them with ER Shaw match barrels and then they shoot this well or a little better.
Thanks believe it or not, this is the 3rd oem barrel I've had shoot this well...I've had one from 2013 that came with my stock 1022 and bought 2 off of ebay and they all shot the same .....it's just comes down to the weather pattern for that day you're shooting...some days certain loads do great or horrible or some do the same results
@@STKO2011 Well maybe they will in the future get the average 10/22 to be much more accurate. Your data showing the difference in the day of shooting makes sense. Humidity, temperature and elevation all change the performance of the cartridge and thus also change the potential for accuracy
Interesting. I just took my new RPR 22LR to the range for the first time last week. Signed in with 3 shots. Shot 1/2" groups at 50 yards entire time I was out there. Maybe I got a good one.
I shot 10 different types of 22 Lr ammo, 10 rds. of each, 2 five rds groups, in my Lithgow 101, 50 rds then 50 rds. why did the Eley Force, and the Federal Ultra Match shoot better than the rest my gun doesn't know which ammo is which? CCI standard diid ok but not like the hi end stuff.
I'm glad you've done the research. But I have to disagree with you. My stock CZ 457 LRP does not like CCI standard velocity it does like Eley team and match and tenex that shoots between 1063-1076fps year round in Louisiana, I'm sub moa at 100 yards and a .31" at 50 yards. And about three and a half inch group at 200 yards. You do want to find what speed your barrel likes. My tricked out 10/22 likes tac 22 match. Which is fine for tree rat sniping or golf balls at 100 yards. Some of my single shot 1960 era 22s like stingers of all things year round. Now that being said does temperature and wind make a difference? Absolutely both do, but if you want consistent shooting you have to buy ammo that is known for its consistency and that your barrel likes. Course this is just my opinion also
That's awesome!! But unfortunately doesn't work like that in the midwest especially Indiana where we can vary 100 degrees from winter to summer easily...my budget semi autos, 10/22 carbine and Mossberg 702 get sub 1/2" groups at 50yd and hit old business cards on edge or 22lr casings out to 175yd back to back within one 10rd mag with called sighters on video here on the channel, easily sub moa at 100yd with CCI SV not to mention the 1800 + scores I'm getting in ARA Factory class Target benchrest at 50yd with my 10-22 Carbine
I feel better about my rifle getting ripped off the hood of my truck by the fucking wind today and sending it into the ground. All brand new first time out with it and of course the fucking wind turned up to full speed when i turned my back sent my open hardcase flying and sent the rifle straight to the ground. I packed up and went home i shouldn't leave the house
That was incredible shooting. Being a fellow Plinkster owner, I know my rifle is capable of such things, Just not with me as the trigger man. You have exceptional shooting skills.
I just ordered a pcp rifle for the first time…. I can’t afford to spend several hundred more dollars on a way to fill it but I did get 2 hand pumps. One of these and also a 4 uncles one which I don’t have complete confidence in either thanks to the internet. I don’t mind labor and maintenance here and there but I shoot just about every single day multiple times a day and I’m just wondering what I got myself into… I’ve been shooting break barrels since I was a kid but these things are different…. More powerful which I am a fan of but it seems to me more unreliable and can be a lot of work to make something that cost upwards of $500 work properly 🤣 for what I spent you could get a real rifle so I hope everything is in order…. My pumps were cheap though I had to skimp somewhere so I got 2 and watched this. Thank you for taking time to show us this because no offense china 🇨🇳 but whoever writes instructions for those manuals….. doesn’t seem to really understand English you can tell🤣 but the hand pumps seem simple enough 🤷♂️
