Glad to see some fellow country boys country boys having some fun. Love a .22 mag and a .17, but damn at ten yards even off handed y’all should be able to do a little better than that. I usually try to cut a half inch circle at 50 yards with my .22 before I’ll even go squirrel huntin. Either way keep doin what you’re doin and just have some fun.

Personally I think the Savage A .17 HMR 17 grain is the best bunny gun on the market right now, shoots straight and over double the velocity of the .22 LR. The .22 Magnum say...30 grain is a little slower than the .17 HMR 17gr (2550 FPS) but carries more weight and has a more curved trajectory. It's all personal preference I guess.

Tack driver. Start at 25 yards. Then 50 and 100 yards. Drive a roofing nail in the center of a paper plate. When you knock the plate down, move to next distance. See how many shots it takes to drop the three plates. Fewest shots wins. Caliber of your choice. Not timed, but fewest shots. (Safe). Use same gun or personal favorite. 22 LR can be a good choice. Change it up and use a different gun at each distance.

The gun that shot Lincoln was a .44 caliber derringer... But you couldn't just leave it at that could you?

Great vid... my first gun was a 17hmr. Remington 597 semi auto. They had a recall but it was a ripoff and I kept mine because I don't have any problems with it..... we were at an outside dnr range and with my father-in-law we got it sighted in. We were hitting dime size groups at a 100 yards... Later went out with the wife. We used clothes pins to hold up our paper targets. As we left I had the bright idea to shoot the part of the clothes pin that you squeeze to open it, thinking the paper would fall.... they didn't thought I was missing. I walked up to the target. I had broke the the tops of the pins off that I was aiming at.

That was a cool challenge between calibers. Got me wanting to try this with my Airforce Condor SS .25 vs Hatsan bullboss .22. Both are high powered air rifles and are match stick accurate. Should be pretty fun to try this.

Try a Magnum Research in 22 mag. Takes Ruger 10 round rotary mags. Or the Kel Tech CMR. It is actually the most accurate of these three. Or the Savage Troy Landry gator skinned stock 22 mag. Very accurate bolt. Put good glass on it and you won’t be disappointed.

The mechanical offset between the height of the scope over the bore is pretty great at that close of a range. It requires you to aim nearly as high over the target as the center of the scope is over the bore.

Not to mention that both rifles are probably sighted in at 50 or 100 yards.

Love the savage..I have the 65M since I was 16 and can do 3 inch clusters at 75 yards iron sights. I wouldn't want to use on squirrels though I have to hit a cotton tail in the head to keep from making a mess of it. I tend to fuss on the cost of quality rounds for it though.. only a bit cheaper than 223!

Hello, I’ve got a 22 WMR and a 17 HMR that both shoot sub MOA , until I shoot them another day. Both are free floated and bedded at lug and tang. Both have smooth and light triggers. I’m using same rounds as the first time. They blow up to 2 and 3 inches at 100 yards. I’ve tried cleaning the barrel and not cleaning it. I’ve run a couple or several fouling rounds thru it. Still scratching my head. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated.

I was thinking at 10 yards the sighting on the rifles would be too far off for being so close. 20 or more would have probably been a better choice. I really enjoy my ruger precision in .22 WMR, 50 or more yards it works really well on. Fun video, it's what shooting with friends is about, just some fun.

Looks like Paul didn't let me down! Actually I voted that way because I think Paul's a good shot, AND the 17 HMR has a tiny bit less recoil so better shooting,....right or wrong,..he won! You guy's gotta do this again,..that was good!

Question regarding that savage I have that rifle also plus two ten round mags. The problem is those factory mags don't work very well feeding ammo but the little 5 round magazine works fine. Just wondering if you had a similar problem ?

This is the kind of stuff i did with my buddies when i was growing up. Dad and i sat cans up a few times and raced to see who could knock them all down 1st. In trying to get my daughter into shooting i used eggs. She seems to like that and they are very reactive so no doubt when you hit them and i think those kind of reactive targets are good for kids because they like that. Good video!

I like to shoot, and I like that others enjoy the heck out of it too. I find this sort of shooting the most fun, some simple competition. I have my kids ( 9 and 11 years old) shooting cheerios at about seven yard with a couple little red rider BB guns. Loads of fun! Nice video!

The freestanding shot, likely easier with the weight of the bull barrel. I have the Marlin but it's not bull barrel. The harmonics of the stock and barrel are perfect. Looked like cheap fun, could have traded guns for the next round.
