A brief overview of the .22WMR (22 magnum) round and the AR-15 rifles that shoot it, as well as a comparison to 22lr for the UK market. Really gripping stuff!
Losing my ‘sitting in front of the camera’ virginity for you all, so forgive my many fuck ups and rambling nature.

another good informative video and enjoy your sense of humour! i’ve been shooting a Sako Quad/22 WMR with NV for about 5 years - great round for foxes out to about 150 yards and a good all rounder for rabbit control, as long as you don’t want to eat what you shoot! 😬never really considered the WMR in semi-auto, but do have a slot for a .22 LR semi-auto… it would be nice if we were allowed .223/5.56 in semi-auto, but again, i’m happy enough with the bolt action in this cal… if i find a spare grand in my sock drawer, i’d consider the AR-15 in .22 mag though… keep up the good work - appreciated - 🍻 cheers (subscribed and liked 👍)

Really wanted one of these but the ammo kills the deal. Wish it was much more popular which might bring the ammo cost down. Strange it isnt.

It is one of the biggest factors for a semi auto. The ammo is actually coming down at the minute which is strange considering what’s going on with other calibres. I don’t think it’ll ever come close to 22lr costs just due to demand and manufacturing costs.

Try 7.62x51 at around £1.20 per round, your WMR round looks cheap now..

Interesting video , these 22 mag Ars so expensive. Where in the uk sells the keltec 22 wmr by the way ?

Thanks. The ammo cost is the biggest downside with them. The Kel Tec was imported by Calibre Innovations, there were only a handful brought in. But as far as I know there are no further plans to bring anymore in.

@@Range23 I'd love to see it - I've got a 22WMR ordered with Rob, hopefully it wont be too long as I'm itching to try it! I've also got a .17 WSM ordered up which I'm dying to try out! Any experience with the Kriss Defiance? I'm temped to grab one of those in 22LR.

@@louisleedham3422 nice! I’m sure you’ll love it. Personally, I’d stay away from things like the Kriss and Tippman etc. and just go for a mil spec built running the CMMG kit, but it depends what you want it for

@@louisleedham3422 certain parts are built to milspec but the overall quality is lacking IMO. A milspec build with a CMMG ARC bolt would give you a better foundation and greater parts commonality for any future alterations

Great video! I'm giving serious consideration to a .22WMR gun but there's so many pro's and con's to them, this video was helpful! If thats your Keltec CMR can you do a review on that as well please. To be honest i thought they'd just disappeared as they're not on CI website? The main thing I want to know is, do you think its possible to block off the last few inches of travel on the collapsible stock so that you could cut off that god awful compensator the UK versions have?

@@Range23 So you don't think there'd be an issue in putting a stopper of some kind (even just a big blob of welding) in the track the stocks arms ride in to prevent it closing all the way? I was all set to buy one when they were originally announced (and they said the stock would not fold all the way to provide the 24" OAL), then they came over with that honking great 'compensator' on....

MKPSG12 I was told the same about the OAL. I also had my deposit on an FDE one but they’d sold it to someone else when it came down to it! You can’t fix the stock on them as you won’t be able to fully disassemble the gun, and as the stock is removable you can’t class it as part of the OAL. I do have plans for mine though, I’m hopeful that I’ll have it sorted before the end of the year.

@@Range23 Hmm, not great customer service then! Rather than fixing the stock in place (which i wouldn't want to do even it it was possible), I was looking to put some kind of stopper/weld at the end of the rail the stock rides in closest to the muzzle end of the gun. I think it only needs to be something like 2.5" from the fully collapsed position. That would mean the OAL would stay above 24", you could still disassemble it and you could get rid of the compensator

MKPSG12 I know what you mean as that was my original thought too. But like I say, you can’t class the stock as part of the OAL as it can be removed completely and the gun will still function as a an LBP.

There’s a lot of comparison between 22WMR and 5.7mm in the states, they are similar in some ways but I think the 5.7 does have better performance overall. Unfortunately in the UK we can only have semi autos in .22 rimfire so it’s kind of a mute point here.

Yes, we have centrefire calibre firearms but they have to be manually operated (bolt action, straight pull). The only semi automatic guns we can have here are .22 calibre rimfires and shotguns.

It’s hard to gauge the distances on videos. My GoPro sometimes makes things look closer depending on the settings I use.
