Hi, Josh. I am a 62 year old disabled grandmother who would love to travel and see the incredible things you see, but that is no longer possible for me. Thank you for taking me on these adventures. You are an awesome young man, and I appreciate the videos not full of swearing. You are so young, so make the best of your life. 40 years ago I was in Japan, and 30 years ago Germany, Austria and Holland. Lived in Germany for 18 months. Special memories. Thanks again, Josh. I once stayed in a hotel there. The walls of the room were made with those ancient bricks with the old wood ceiling. When i opened the window in the morning, we could hear the seagulls and see the sun rising with the view of the coast just like in this video. There is so much to see that i recommend staying there at least one night.

So much to see and explore in France besides Paris. You should totally visit France and see cities, villages, ruins, etc outside Paris. France has more than a 1000 years of history and you're bound to see a lot of beautiful sites 😀

Most things were inspired by a group of different places and people. The school itself is believed to be inspired in more than one place. If im not mistaken JK Rowling has relatives in Edinburgh (and i believe she lives there) and theres a school that is part of the inspiration, as you said Hariot School. but that is just a part of it. it is believed that other places also inspired the writer on the creation of Hogwarts, for example multiple palaces and cathedrals in Portugal that she saw when she lived there, that is believed to be possible since she was inspired by the students of Coimbra (a city in portugal known for their universety) and the capes that they wear to create the outfit that the students of Hogwarts wear. im saying all this just to get to one point, everyone is saying: "it was inspired in one place", others say: "no it was in another place", while in reality it is possible that you are all right.

There is no luxurious hotel in the Mont St Michel because there is very few space and every building is a protected monument, but a simple room like this one is really expensive : it should be around 100 - 130€ / night (=112 - 145$) I guess.

OMG!! I wish I could go there so bad!! Thank you so much for this. I'm 56 and disabled but I used to be a total gypsy. I grew up in Vancouver BC and drove taxi there in my mid 20's. It was a blast. I suffer from wanderlust so bad I moved 56 times in my life so far. I miss being free to wander where ever my heart takes me. This was such a beautiful sight to see!! Thank you!!!

When I was a kid in the 70s (a young kid!), I saw photos of Mont St. Michel in books, and I was just as enthralled as you guys are. I love watching you explore and share and be excited! The 'knight' statue outside the chapel is St. Michael, and the 'old well' is a baptismal font, where children are baptized! Keep having fun, and keep learning.

The big statue that you pointed out had a big sword and was standing on some weird snake is the Archangel Michael who is the best fighter among the angels, that statue represents him winning over the devil (the snake/dragon looking thing). It is a great peace of history, not only for cathloics but for everyone. That statue probably costs a mini fortune. Love your videos btw, i´ve been watching for a few month and just realised i wasnt subscribed, well, now i am haha There are a lot of things in that church that were insane. Look them up, mostly are pure gold btw.

Josh, I get the "I'm so excited I almost passed out!" I have felt like that a few times too! Once was at Minister's Island in St. Andrews, NB Canada. I highly recommend it! Also an island. Hi Josh, I had to comment on this video. You are so lucky to have been there when you were. Back in 1974 I was here and I was 15 years old. I wasn't old enough to really appreciate the experience and have dreamed of returning. The abbey at the top was built during the Romanesque and Gothic periods. I loved seeing where the monks lived and worked. the thing I remember the most, though, were all the tourist traps I walked by on my walk up to the abbey. I was there at low tide so I didn't get to see the island surrounded by water. I believe the statue of Saint Michael at the top of the spire is around ten feet, so it's quite high up. Thanks for bringing back such wonderful memories!!!! This is my favorite video you've done so far (I wonder why :). Thanks again!!

I went here years ago and my daughter visited 2 years ago with school. Fantastic place. So glad I watched this. Brought back a lot of memories. We have it’s brother mount here in Cornwall, England...st. Michaels mount. Not as good but nice to visit x

Thank you so much, Josh, for giving me and other people inspiration to travel. I have major depression, and it's hard to get up and do things that I always wanted to do because I'm not sure if it will actually happen. I'd hope one day that I can make friends too that I can travel with like you, or maybe even meet up with you one day, who knows. My mother is getting older, and I want to make her proud and help her to at least see Scotland before something happens to her. Thank you again, you give me a lot of hope every time I binge watch your videos.

Its location is where Brittany and Normandy merge in the bay, leading to the walled city that looks surreal even in broad daylight. So yes this castle was used in the films. In every single one of them to be exact. They got their inspiration from numerous places from different countries altogether. But they only filmed in certain places and this was one of those places.

I’ve been there! I went this past summer. It’s truly amazing. I stayed over night in the cutest hotel on the island. At night the island is a ghost town, so I was able to explore it with my cousins. During the city the small streets are filled with people. If you visit and go to the church on the top of the island wear comfortable shoes and if you have a backpack be sure it’s light. It’s very steep. When I went the water level was not high so my cousins and I were able to walk around bare foot around the entire island on the beach. It was an amazing experience would absolutely go again.

at 29:34 not an old well, but rather probably a baptistery... Very surprised to see your enthusiasm, for a place that I knew well (I am French and lived in Normandy at one time), but it is true that Mont St Michel is a magical place, thank you for having it for me made revisit.
