In this Venice Italy vlog, we spent 24 hours in Venice during the historic Acqua Alta Venice flooding of 2019. This Venice acqua alta was the worst flood in over 60 years, flooding St. Mark's Square and St. Mark's Basilica, for only the 6th time in 1200 years. In this Venice vlog, you will see us walking through the streets of Venice during the acqua alta. During the aqua alta, you will still see what to do in Venice as I take you to the best wine bar in Venice for cicchetti and amarone wine, a restaurant that was later flooded in the aqua alta. This is our story...the Venice Aqua Alta of 2019.

Absolutely one of your best videos. Loved the interview at the wine bar and the food paired with the beautiful wine selections looked incredible. I would definitely want to go there for that great experience. Also really enjoyed the lighthearted humor watching you trek through the flooded streets of Venice. Love love love the behind the scene shots. Initially I thought there was an earthquake during the hotel scene coz the camera continued to move side to side. Then, also to the wine bar and I thought the cameraman dipped early into the wine before the start of filming🤣🤣🤣. Hello Mark and Ryan! I was stunned by your video. It seemed unreal, when I saw the water was in and above your tall boots... How some of the shops managed to keep the water out is amazing. I remember the news covering this high water/flooding in Venice, another "there, there!" that is quite disturbing. You gave us such a wonderful night with the wine tasting and food tasting. I loved that you wrote a note to leave on the bottle that others can read. You always find the drama, the people, the human part of all your travels :) Thank you Mark for sharing the raw real happenings here, a blessing as always!

What luck to travel to Venice when they have the highest flooding in 60 years and the garbage bag waders were the best .The wine tasting was great and the cuisine looked wonderful, a must while there for sure. Even with all the travel mishaps and the flooding you pulled it off again, GREAT VLOG!

Probably seems to be scary the first time, but it happens every years and could be worst than this. The second time you feel the charm of this flooding city, and if you are lucky, you can have flood and mist at the same time, very powerful.

About a month ago they were warning of high tides again but the new system to block the water out of the lagoons was said to be ready. it seems it worked and residents were more than pleased to see the city not flood. thankfully despite cost overruns, corruption, and construction delays these days, at least for now, are going to be a thing of the past.

The Italian government spent billions on flood defences. Doesn't the giant barrier that rises from the bed of the lagoon prevent acqua alta? The wine bar was awesome :)

Thanks James, that wine bar was so incredible! It's a must visit in Venice, and Cecilia's wine tours and cooking classes are the best! I'm not sure what they're doing about the flooding, but it seems to happen over and over.

We spent, and still been spending for a flood defense project that nowadays isn't yet ready (10% of its completion still missing) and that we already know that once ready it will work not perfectly and with huge amounts of money already foreseen to be spent for its maintenance during future decades. A project badly conceived that will work in an even worst way, but the amount of money already spent so far is so high that we don't have any chance to quit it for a different solution. So sad. So annoying. So frustrating.

Honestly, all over. Each region has such a different landscape and terrain that the grapes grown are quite unique. I think it depends on your taste...if you want robust, go Tuscany...if you want a ton of mineral, go south to Sicily, if you want middle of the road, I like the veneto region for Amarone!
