You make fabulous videos! So relaxing, down to earth and inspiring. I am 56 years old and really want to do some outdoor camping, constructing and cooking etc. you could survive anywhere. Thanks a million for the inspiration.

Camp when and as you can! I backpacked, car camped and even backyard camped in my time. Retirement hit and my spouse began a second career as 'Grandma.' We relocated. I lost 15 years of planned outdoor life. So I did heavy landscaping, woodlot management, and barbecuing on the terrace.

Check out a channel called Bushradical if you like the idea of building a cabin he has built several small cabins. Also helps his voice is calm relaxing and informative as he builds. Another channel is Outdoorboys he does some extreme Alaska camping in cold weather and warm weather and brings his kids along as well.

Brilliant Video! This is the first time I’ve seen someone put a hole in the side to aid airflow. Clever! Another tip you could utilise is if you are out and about and you haven’t got a knife, axe or saw at hand, you can simply hammer sticks into the ground that you find laying around with another stick used as a baton, creating exactly the same thing, a Swedish Torch, a number of concentric rings of sticks (the amount depends on how thick the sticks are but I’d go no less than an inch per stick, pack them tightly with the middle rings lower that the rest, it’ll burn faster but it’s a quick and easy way to create a Swedish Torch when you have no tools and you need to cook or boil water quick. I’ve used this method a number of times when the weathers been bad and the ground and everything other than deadfall is sodden.

Top job with the tarp shelter Mike, really liked that setup. To have a fallen tree like that is just perfect, you could make whatever type of shelter/homestead you want with that, it's a great shape. That emergency match is ACE!!! haha its like a flare 😄. You shout workout a place where you can have it to try and boil a cup of water over it! That would make for an ace vid. Great bed too matey. Looking forward to seeing what uour gonna build there next. Cheers Mike.

Hey Mike instead of bringing salt I would suggest if you can find it in your country A salt and spice mix called Herbomore Herbomir they're two kinds there's urban mere regular mix which has got dried herbs and salt and I think pepper mixed together and the other one is called Trokemaire which is the same mix plus has red chili flakes in it. They're great for seasoning foods using the table salt And it makes your salt go further you don't have to use as much Because you get the other spices added flavor to whatever you're cooking whether it's meat or vegetables. That way you don't have to carry as many spices you could add Ginger instead or dried garlic Or I need powder garlic powder that kind of stuff instead of just you know the chili flakes and black pepper and whatever spices you have besides your salt And the great thing about it it's sea salt. so you're getting more minerals and nutrients than just Plain old Potassium sodium chloride The potassium chloride Magnesium chloride other chlorides in it which add great flavor to whatever you're cooking. so the main one is called Herba Mare and the spicy one is called Trokemaire it's not too spicy but it does get a little bit of zest to it. one of the other things you could carry with you is like dried citrus rind like lemon or lime or orange or mixture of all three. it wasn't your vials. and it's easy to make your own citrus rinds you get yourself a microplanar And you hold the citrus in your one hand and you use the microplanar on top of the citrus So you can see exactly where you're taking the rind from On your citrus. you take it You spread it out on a piece of wax paper And let it dry or put it in dehumidifier or whatever they call them dehydration units and let those sit for like 20 minutes or an hour to get really dry pulls out all the moisture so that you can then mix them and match them however you want to add to your food and then you put in your vials and bring that with you so that's what I would suggest is forget the other vials to keep your tropical bears urban mayor at one file your black pepper your garlic and onion powder mixed And then your citrus rines in another that'll be all four vials with better ingredients for you to use when you're cooking and a camp situation.

I didn't know the inner voice would perk up like a suppressed firestarter untill I saw your survival match. Interesting that I was shopping for matches for my survival gear today. So many options. I bought another mini torch. Still need matches for the inevitable power outages. I like having more than one option for "quick" fire starting.

Really like that you take advantage of the natural resources you have available. In thinking about the trepidation you had over possibly puncturing the thermo rest. I would suggest a thin foam Roll up pad to use with it Also like that you explained the dual height of the bed, and how much time, ( unedited ) it really takes.

I'd tie a finger loop by the roller clips. 1 it makes it easier to pull & tighten & 2 will stop the cord from slipping out of the clip. Just an idea.

You can make your own teas from the outdoors offerings. All you'll need is to order empty stringed tea bags in order to make them, etc? Ebay or Amazon would be ideal for said tea bags.

Very peaceful, relaxing, cool, it even made me want to go camping soon, who knows. Maybe today I'll buy materials to make a new backpack, I hope it works out, I think my equipment in general is pretty great, even simple, just the backpack I feel a little lack of space, and I still don't have a pillow, but I want to make one out of wood, and I like to use juice boxes, I recommend trying them out (those boxes that are silver on the inside are a parallelepiped)

Interesting way to build a stove from the chunk of wood. When we used to have a lot of fires with just chopped down trees, an older and experienced guy always told us to have the twigs and branches all lined up the same way, rather than in a pyramid shape. He showed us the moisture being chased out of the ends of the wood as it burned in the middle. As the fire progressed he would then push the outer bits of branches into the middle where they would burn easily because they were so dry at that point. Dunno if this is right or wrong, just a bit of knowledge passed down over the years. Great vid as usual 👍
