I wish Chris had waited for kim. :( I always feel like Chris really loved kim more than ellen and from the mistake he never will be truly happy through married life with ellen.
Lemon Blood Productions he never loved her in any real way. She was a tool for him to get out of his post war depression. She was young and fresh and naive and he liked It at the time. He got over he in a year and moved on with his American life and never intended to come back for her.
They modernized the song in 2018. Chris never really seemed like he loved her because he barely looked for a full year. He got married then when they encountered eachither again 3 years later, he lied to his wife that he never married Kim.
Daphnie Vo I saw it recently, and it’s not really that he doesn’t love her, but that he had thought she had died. He became very depressed in the year after he tried to find her (remember that they closed the bars and re-educated a lot of folks- those who weren’t killed after Saigon fell) and he still deals with the guilt and PTSD from his time in Vietnam. Ellen was more of a bandaid for the situation, where she filled the gap he was feeling, and he even mentions he doesn’t want kim in America because he knows they still have that connection
@@EditorOfSL It’s not fair to just downplay what they considered legitimate in there state. Under the law of there society, that ceremony was valid. The girls were the officiators.
@@dragonflarefrog1424 She recognized it as a wedding. He did not. To her limited experience and world views anyone who saw what happened there would understand it was a wedding. This is typical of many naive perspectives (not realizing that outsiders won't recognize it). To her they were married. To him they were serious and would probably marry. And also there was this really lovely event with her friends from the pageant.

Chris was the bad person. He should have known he’s married and not to marry again. People should respect the vows of marriage. I am tired of women fighting but with the man hardly getting blamed.
He thought Kim was dead and moved on only after 3 years of grievance, that's respectful enough. Also you missed the point - no one is to be blamed here. The trio are all war victims and get to deal with their own misery.
Chris never forgot Kim and he didn't think that she was dead. In fact, after he was separated from her, he didn't speak to anyone for a year. John explains this in the Room 317 song. For the next 2 years he'd call out Kim's name during his sleep. His wife heard that in the song 'I still believe'. 3 years after their separation, Chris asks John if Kim's still alive. He celebrates when he learns that Kim lives, explaining that he had been looking for her for all of those years. Chris was still attached to Kim all those years.
