Anker is impressive with thier new products. Looks like the big 3 is now ecoflow, bluetti and anker.

It cannot charge from AC and DC at the same time. Also, it cannot output 240V when charging via AC. Those are some pretty important limitations that you should mention in the followup video.

Yes - my first question - can I plug this in in-line between 240V shore-power and the panel and have it switch on when the grid goes down - especially when I’m not there to physically turn on the unit.

yeah these things are cool, especially the Ecoflow Ultra, but in reality you need a gas, diesel, or propane generator for any long term needs...more than a day a two. Get a dual fuel, run it on propane, and you won't have the problem of gas sitting for a long time. Imagine, you buy a predator, Westinghouse, or champion 12500 dual fuel for 1500 max. Done. These power stations are just a shiny object. Good for Van Life, I own two Ecoflows, but they are not serious for home backup.

Thankyou Anker for letting Tommy do this review. Great camera work, fantastic lighting and the sound 👍 Great review and my goodness, things are STILL changing so fast in this product category. Very intersting to see each new product get released over the last 2 years or so. And how did I know Lights were going to be used to stress test the 3800 ❓😆 It's Lights vs. A.C. Who wil win? Well worth it! Just to see you hook everything up mad scientist style to get a "useful" load on that thang!! Keep it up.

I wish i knew more about this because this unit would save from buying multiple pieces in one shot. I have a cape cod with 100 amp service. How many of these units would i need to replace it ? I have space to put 20 solar panels along my fence.

I have two Anker 767 units and one expansion battery. Would an expansion battery from the 3800 unit be compatible with an anchor 767?

So if one unit can only allow 2 x1200 input from solar panels (so 2 x 3x400w), this only allows a maximum inout from solar at 2400w,? How do i configure this in a system to allow double that input ph? eg 12 x 400w panels with an input of 4800w per hour? im asking because I had hoped to set this up in a way to feed both a 1.5hp pool pump and possibly a 50,000 btu electric heater in the summer. So far I only have thew 6x 400w panels and the F3800, I hope to add 2 additional batteries once tehy release. It seems odd to only allow such a small amount of power from solar per device? Im assuming I can output up to 6000 while still recieving a charge from the solar during the day?

Great video review, thank you! Can you help identify best solar panels to use with this unit besides the portable ones due to the limited 60V solar input? On some reviews I’ve seen they using the F3800 unit with 3 panels in parallel that are LG 365W each. 47.7VOC, 9.39Imp total of 28.17 amps potential using two 3 panel strings to connect of the F3800. Any thoughts if these will work?

Thanks Tommy, this is very hepful, but I have a question: I have fixed solar panels on my roof, connected to a SolarEdge converter. The solar panels are plugged in with MC4 cables. If I would connect those MC4 cables into the Anker Solix F3800, can I then connect the Anker back to my SolarEdge converter with MC4 cables? In other words, what is the output possibility of the F3800 to connect back to the converter? Or, do I not need that converter anymore and can I simply connect the F3800 directly to the mains? I live in Europe, so 240v.

First of all, THANK YOU for the review. Very informative. Next, are you going to do a review where you’re using them with production lights and equipment? Say some Aputure 1200 or 600’s?

Manual says it can take a 2400 watt solar charge but........V x amps= watts 32 x 10=320watts..ch1 60x25= 1500watts.ch2 Total= 1820 watts Correct? So where are they getting that out can charge at 2400 watts

Does anyone know, if I get the F3800, the portal 400 watt solar, plus one expansion battery, if I need any thing more to get all up & running, I already have a gas generator, full house panel also. Specially any cables. Thanks

I think most of these want you to use a clean sign wave ….. make sure the generator does not put out a square wave

Missed the Kick Starter opportunity. See how things go with our Anker 767 when it gets here on Thursday. We live in Northern MN, so we are content just using the grid to charge and use in our car trailer or to run tools on location. We have a Predator 3500i gas generator to charge it in our trailer if need be. Never owned a battery station before. This unit in the video, is going to be very popular. Will be between this and the new Ecoflow Delta Pro Ultra. We bought the Anker because of the form factor, wheels, tow handle, and 30 amp plug, over the Delta 2 Max. I think it's looking like that will be the case again if we buy into this category. Just not confident that a solar system is in the cards with all the cloudy days in fall and winter. Would probably have to put panels on the house, garage, and separate garage to get enough power flowing in those months, which would be very expensive. I've wanted to go off grid for a long time too. Would be so fun!

@@TommyCallaway I also love that table! Is that black walnut? My favorite wood! We had a 40’ diesel pusher and all the wood was solid walnut. That had solar with a an inverter. Miss that thing. You deserve all you get from Anker too. You do an excellent job presenting and testing these. 😁👍🏻🏁

Zendure was the first to do 240v output. This is a great product but I went with the Delta Pro Ultra It is the most silent power station in history even pulling 5500w and the solar input is way better.

How safe are the batteries for leaving this unit in your home?
@Brew2point0
@Brew2point0 8 месяцев назад
They're LiFePO4, so much safer than legacy lithium units. That said, it's a lot of energy stored in one place and I'd rather not see what it does if caught in a fire.

60 volt solar input, is so weak........ ugh. EcoFlo is good for 400 volt solar input.
@albertomartin70
@albertomartin70 6 месяцев назад
What does the voltage difference do? Watts are the real power provided, volts don’t tell to much… 400 volt panel will gave you maybe 1 amp for 400 watts and 60 volt panel will gave you like 6.5 amp for about 400 watts…. What is your point? 🤔

What are your thoughts on the F3800 and using it for vanlife? Obviously since it is a whole home backup it could handle it, but what are recharge times with a solar setup? Could you charge it off the alternator? The confusing thing for me is when looking into building a DIY system for a van everything is in Amp Hours and when it comes to these systems everything is in Watts.
@TommyCallaway
@TommyCallaway 10 месяцев назад
You could use it for a vanlife setup but it might be a little overkill honestly. The F2000 is a lot smaller, with the expansion battery will get you 4kwh, and has a solar input of 1kw (more than you would need for your van). I powered my studio with the F2000 for 6 months straight in a fuax-van setup and had zero issues with it - it does not have wifi so you need to use bluetooth or the actual unit itself to manage power, but it has GAN tech and is the QUIETEST generator i've used on the market. If you've got the F3800 in your living area of your van, the fan noise will probably bother you, so I would use the F2000. If it's not in your living area, the F3800 is much more expandable and can transition to a house system if you choose to do so in the future, so just plan ahead and get what you need. Batteries for future systems will probably be way cheaper in another year, just like how they got cheaper in this past year.

Is it common now to install a transfer switch on the inside of the house near the breaker to plug in these backup batteries? I know they aren't typically waterproof.
