At 10:13am on the 18th March 2024, 2415 and 2902 arrive at Wacol to shunt the yard.
(00:26) The locos trigger the boom gates at the level crossing as they enter the southern end of the yard via the track nearest to the main line.
Then they cross to the next track which uses a manually operated key and the track circuit to trigger the boom gates. (00:55) The two locos then cross the level crossing again and pick up a string of spoil wagons, that were emptied some time ago. Several spoil wagons have a lot of water in them.
(4:00) These are then pulled over the level crossing again after checking that the booms have come down. The spoil wagons are left at the runaround in the southern part of the yard.
(10:52) The shunter nearly gets a soaking from the water in the last spoil wagon when he releases the air in the train.
(11:07) the two locos then attach to some ballast wagons which they push back and (11:22) couple to more ballast wagons before again (12:00) pushing back and crossing the level crossing to store the ballast wagons back where they just removed the spoil wagons.
(16:01) the locos return once again checking the boom gates have (17:00) gone down.
(18:37) they grab the spoil wagons to shunt them into one of the back tracks.
(20:26) The string of wagons is so long they again cross the level crossing.
(22:04) then push back and drop off the spoil wagons.
(25:05) coming back to change over to the arrival/departure track.
