@@liljon454502 I believe that was an issue with the Nissan R390. Indy cars can spike over 5g of lateral force. So there is over 700 pounds of force against your rib cage depending on weight. I’m a pilot and have experienced that vertically in a plane and it’s violent. Couldn’t imagine taking it to the ribs. Imagine laying on your side and having 700+ pounds of weight stacked on you.
@gregrowe1168
@gregrowe1168 Год назад
The cars had to be slowed down when they raced at Texas. At one point the g forces were so high that the drivers were about to black out. It’s a smaller track than Indy but the speeds were almost as fast. The lateral g forces are greater because of less banking in the turns. Less time to recover too since lap times are much faster.

Fun Fact...Land speed racing is a widely recognized discipline of motorsports....and 250 mph had been surpassed, "in a race", decades before it was achieved at Lemans....

If I can recall the record Peugeot set was around 411 kph, but Peugeot disclosed a 405 kph reading as some sort of publicity stunt for their new 405 sedan launch. The record setting Group C car famously retired shortly after the feat with mechanical failure. Also I think the C9 and some Nissan cars made it just about 400 kph and the Jags some 395 kph, slower than the Peugeot but man, no slouch either. Group C was amazing.
