That silk 😍. I have a traditional pj pattern from simplicity that I like with all the piping and cuffs. Really fun to sew. Thanks for sharing.
@SewNaturalDane

Isn't it pretty! I have a McCalls pattern too that MUCH more simple in construction that I will add piping too. You'll have to let me know which simplicity one you have.

Hi Natieda, the fabric is beautiful, the piping is excellent. I agree with you some thing to sleep in such not be so much work. I sure you feel good about finishing the PJ's

Virginia, yes I'm so happy this is crossed off my list - LOL!. I do love the top and the shorts I ended up making. Thanks so much for watching.

I applaud you for sticking with it. I have a shirt pattern with a million pieces and I just jammed it in a Ziploc for next fall, I just cant deal with all those pieces right now! I feel your pain. I love that piping detail and I agree that its a lot of work for something to sleep in. But us fancy ladies need our sleeping silks, don't we!
@SewNaturalDane
@SewNaturalDane 6 лет назад
hahaha, right we need our sleeping silks. Yeah this one was a doozy, but I stuck with. Thanks you so much about the piping, I'm definitely going to try that again in other garments, I love it.

Persistence pays. I love the piping on the tops. I hate, loath, despise pattern fitting and have to force myself to do the changes.

I love the piping and plan to do it again in other garments for sure! Yes, adjustments are already a challenge, so I understand.

Your Crazy Jams all turned out beautiful! Very nice save on the muslin too!! Suggestion on that shoulder seam that keeps wanting to peek out...if you have some stitch witchery (I use), heat and bond or steam a seam, place that underneath and press it down. It will never peek out again! Love your piping too, turned out perfect!

Ok you are inspiring me to go finish my pajamas. I felt the same way- so much work for going to bed! But I love your solutions and that top is just gorgeous so I think it was worth it!
@SewNaturalDane
@SewNaturalDane 6 лет назад
Whit go for it, as you begin sewing it up, it goes pretty quickly but between all the pieces and all the adjustments I had to make it was a little challenging for me, but I do love the final outcome.

Great job on the piping. I would never spend that amount of time on something to sleep in. The tops turned out great. Kudos to you for persevering. When making a pant or skirt with a pocket, pin the pocket pattern piece to the pattern piece to which it joins. In other words treat it as one piece. Make your adjustment to the single pattern piece, then add your pocket which may need adjustments also. Sorry if my explanation does not make sense. Wish I could show you. Good luck and thank you for sharing.

Rita, I know right - LOL! I just REALLY wanted to try these hahahah! Your suggestion is spot on, Kathleen Cheetham talks about that in her Craftsy classes with facings, etc. I didn't think to do that with this, probably because my brain was fried - LOL! Thanks for watching.

Your crazy jams are cute! Glad you didn’t let it get your sewing mojo down. I’ve had a few sewing projects that have truly tested my sewing mojo as well 🤣 But your pjs turned out great! Love the piping. 👍

I, too, discovered the pants/shorts lesson the same way you did by adjusting up. It is sooo much easier to adjust down if necessary, isn't it?!? Loved this review :)

Nice. Very pretty. You can save those pj shorts by sewing a bridge in the side seams. Your pocket won't meet the side seam area but so what, it's a muslin.

Sounds like quite a hassle. The piping is gorgeous though. It's probably worth a couple of Crazy Jams just to have conquered piping. It is the standout part of that pattern anyway. Good for you for surviving the experience!

I have a couple of videos in my Sew With Me play list that shows some of me sewing. I made the Itch To Stitch Cardigan and the Sew Over It Eve Dress with full bust adjustments. You can check those out and just 2 weeks ago I copied a ready to wear skirt and showed that measuring and cutting process. I do plan to do more of showing me sewing parts of garments I sew, so stay tuned.

Oh those pyjamas are beautiful Natieda! The piping looks so nice on them too. You did a great job but I can understand why you're so happy they're done and over with, especially with all the pieces the pattern has. 😁

Rikki, I tell you I almost put this in the WIP bin and I don't have a WIP bin, this would have been my first - LOL! I'm definitely happy it's over. I do love the final look, just a lot of work.

Well done. Lovely make and beautiful piping. I guess everything is a learning curve - bravo for persevering! xx Edit - it's much harder to sew when you have to make lots of adjustments...I look back nostalgically to the days (long gone!) of being a 'perfect 10'!
@SewNaturalDane
@SewNaturalDane 6 лет назад
LOL, yes it definitely zaps all the sewing energy out when not only you have to make so many adjustments, but also so many pattern pieces. If this was a pair of jeans or a coat I wouldn't feel that way, but I am just going to sleep in these - LOL

Hi Natieda, oh my goodness....your final pajama make is gorgeous 💞. I think you could wear that top in the day, as there is a trend at the moment to wear pajama style tops. The piping and the fabric is beautiful and you should be very proud of them and yourself 💞. Enjoy wearing them Natieda 😉👍😘

Thank you Sally!! I laughed out loud, that trend of wearing PJs in public.....a no no for me, but I do get what you're saying. I need to find more pattern designs I can add pipping though. Thanks so much for watching.

Did you watch the video from Kittenish Behaviour when she had to adjust her beach pyjamas ..this may help...
@SewNaturalDane
@SewNaturalDane 6 лет назад
I did and watch all of her videos, but you have to consider she's not needing to make the type of adjustments I have to consider (tummy, etc.) so while useful it wouldn't necessarily help me with mine. My preference for PJ shorts is to use the pattern I did. Saves so much headache.

GREAT JOB!!! I LOVE, RESPECT AND GREATLY APPRECIATE YOU FOR SHARING YOUR STRUGGLES AND SUCCESS!!! YOU AND I SHARE SOO MANY OF THE SAME STRUGGLES. COINCIDENTALLY, I'M WORKING ON SOME PJ SHORTS AS WELL. I HAVE THE OPPOSITE PROBLEMS WITH FITTING PANTS. I HAVE A LARGE LOWER POUCHY TUMMY AND A WIDE FLAT REAR END; IT MAKES FITTING PANTS A NIGHTMARE!!! BUT I'M WATCHING SOME CRAFTY CLASSES, SO HOPEFULLY I WILL BE ABLE TO CONQUER THIS PROBLEM. I LOVE KARINA (Lifting Pins and needles) AS WELL!!! SHE'S AWESOME!! ANY SUGGESTIONS ON MY FITTING ISSUES FROM THE COMMUNITY WOULD BE GREAT!! THANK YOU SO SO MUCH NATURALDANE!!! I'M YOUR BIGGEST FAN!!!

Hellooooo Retia and thanks so much! I'm also watching the Craftsy classes, going through this book as well as catching videos by Sillhouette Patterns, SureFitDesign and Sew-To-Fit. It may sound CRAZY, but I'm VERY tempted to do a pant slopper, even through I'm not at my ideal weight/size. That way I learn the fitting process from scratch.
@queenretiadivalicious8356
@queenretiadivalicious8356 6 лет назад
I have the sure fit design kit, so I am going to making my pant sloper this week. I say do a sloper, it's just paper...lol and you can always adjust it or make a new one. Good luck

You nailed that piping! I try to avoid patterns where I am out of the size range. There are so many available with a large size range, I just mostly sew those. BTW, those pockets are super easy to do, and really satisfying when they come together.
@SewNaturalDane
@SewNaturalDane 6 лет назад
Thank you!!! You hit the nail on the head and I will actually be talking about that in my April Lookbook video. There are some adjustments not worth the challenge.
