Oh jeeze louise!! Here I could have been buying so many more patterns if I knew the update goes on automatically! lol I'm not sure if the Hubs would appreciate that though! lol I had to chuckle when you were talking about Jack's waist, my 30 yr old son is 5'6" and has had a 26-28" waist for the last 10 years! I bought him some pants for his birthday in March and they were actually too small! lol He's graduated to a 30" thank goodness, they're much easier to find in a 30/32 vs a 28/32! The kids pjs look great and your leopard jams are fantastic! I missed out on the Compose Robe sale, maybe with my Christmas cash! lol

I don’t make or wear pj’s anymore. I make and wear “lounge wear” which explains why I wear the same clothes to bed as during the day! 🤣 I just cut out two sets in french terry (from Fabric Mart Fabrics, on sale today in fact) using the very easy New Look 6216, will sew them up this afternoon. How do you cut the tubular knit for waistband? Can you also recommend a male robe pattern?
@TomKatStitchery
@TomKatStitchery 2 года назад
You cut it the same way, you just have folds on both sides. As far as male robe I'm afraid I don't have a recommendation as I haven't made one. I do know that Simplicity has quite a few, though!

Hello Whitney. I will be making myself some summer PJ's because I wear an insulin pump and it is hard to get a pair of PJ's that have a pocket. The waist bands on my current RTW PJ's are worn so much due to me wearing the pump on my PJ bottoms, so it is time for some new pairs. I don't make PJ"s for anyone else as it is just me and The Old Boy and he too doesn't wear PJ's. I am going to also be making the robe, as I do want a cool robe to wear in summer, I am going to order some waffle knit (in pink as I have always had a pink dressing gown). I am always conscious about having nice sleepwear in the case when I may have to go to hospital. Take care and I do love all that you have made, I will have to wait until the Love Notions top comes on sale. Happy sewing, and love to Gidget xxxx
@TomKatStitchery
@TomKatStitchery 2 года назад
Being able to accommodate for things like insulin pump pockets is one of my favorite things about sewing. I like to have nice sleepwear as well, mostly because it just makes me feel better!

Maybe your husband doesn't ask you to sew for him because of the "Christmas blouse" incident! My husband rarely asks me to sew for him, so when he asked me to make him a fleece jacket last Christmas, I jumped at the chance. As a surprise I added a ribbon trim to the chest and back yoke. I told my oldest son my plans. He was so, so worried. He thought I was going to put lace on the jacket. He's a dude and he doesn't know the difference between ribbon and lace. (I found masculine looking native Alaskan (Tlingit) ribbon.) I was pleased with how it turned out, but we now call it "the lace jacket". Lol.
@TomKatStitchery
@TomKatStitchery 2 года назад
😂😂😂 that could be it! To be honest, I'm getting so many requests in from my kids, I'm kind of glad he isn't putting in orders as well. Maybe one day he'll want me to sew for him again!

These p.j.s turned out fantastic, Whitney! I love your fabric choices (even those that came from your stash - don’t you just love it when that happens?) and the Christmas fabric color-way is so appealing because it does not scream Christmas but more Fair Isle sweater. I’m so needing a few pajama sets myself and although I have the Breckinridge from Love Notions, I have never made it up! Now’s the time (especially if I can get ahold of some Viscose Rayon Knit - your pj set looks sensational!)
@TomKatStitchery

By the way you definitely have to name your 👗 mannequin. My dress form's name is Marjorie. Named after an elderly lady who used to walk down our street to go for a coffee ☕ or to the grocery store and she was always dressed up pretty, high heels even in the summer. The real Marjorie has passed away now, but my husband and I remember her fondly every time my Marjorie gets a new outfit.

What fabric did you use for the Henley to make lightweight and comfy
@TomKatStitchery
@TomKatStitchery 2 года назад
Mine is done in a viscose/spandex knit and my daughters are both in a cotton/spandex jersey. If you want PJs that are a bit cooler to sleep in, I would go with a viscose or rayon/spandex blend.

These are all great! Your kids are looking grown up! The pale pink on your daughter’s looks so cute. I popped over to the Minerva site to check out the leopard fabric and you are featured there! You look so nice there! ❤️ When you were explaining your sons top, you mentioned using 85% to come up with width of cuff? Is there a chart or something that tells us this? Would this be different from wristbands vs ankle or any cuffs?
@TomKatStitchery
@TomKatStitchery 2 года назад
They are getting grown up! To answer your question, the 85% ratio is my preference for almost all cuffs and neckbands. I find its just the right amount of stretch to make everything lie nice and flat!

Name your mannequin “Maude” … but she does need a cup of coffee. Ha ha ha. Fantastic video. Love the new setup for filming. I just made a pair of jammie pants and now I have a master pattern, found a bunch of flannel in the back of one of my stash closets…I foresee myself having lounge pants and beautiful classic t-shirts in soft knits. I live in Southern AZ so I no longer need the heavier fabrics…ok one pair of flannel. And a couple pair of ‘Capri’ length. I get hot sleeping in to much.
