A great moment... A great moment in another era...with another philosophy. Scent of oil, gasoline and also carefreeness. Glad to have experienced such events.
I was crying man, knowing the same heart that beat in that race car is the evolution of the heart that sits in the car parked outside. :-) AMG, one man, one engine. Christoph Glania, built it.
Note how the commentator's voice doesn't overpower the engine and race sounds. How it's respectful and toned. Now go watch a modern race commentator have a full blown diva moment all over your favorite race...if there's even such a thing anymore.
Good point! And even better is no commentary at all. Watch 'C'était un rendezvous' by Claude Lelouche. 8 minutes of flat-out Ferrari through Paris. Superb.
Alfa Romeo uber alles, as usual: those little devils of cars with smaller engines with baritono's voice in front of the bigger powered ones. They changed the rules quite eveey year but the GTA remained unbeatable in the years. Fantastic show those years anyway: how many people along the circuits ? !
