It is surprising to most that Forster standard Neck sizing dies WILL bump the shoulders! My last 25/06, I loaded the 87g Speer at 3600, bumped the shoulder back and never full length sized the brass for 12 firings! I annealed the brass on the 6th firing in a bread pan with water and propane torch. I trimmed to length as needed. This little tid bit on the Forster neck sizers is HUGE for reloaders!
Hey Dalton good video on your '06. I got a new Ruger Hunter .308 Walnut. It is free floated and right in the box on a big yellow card is a statement telling you what torque requirements to use for the particular rifle you have. The front screw varies from 95 inch pounds to 80 inch pounds depending on your rifle. The rear screw varies between 10 - 60 inch pounds. Get that barrel free floated to where at least a heavy business card will pass.
I know one thing I’ve always torqued the front screw down very tight on a Ruger 77. It’s nice to see some actual torque numbers for a walnut stock! Thanks for sharing
Nice job. I have loaded 75gr, 87, 100, and 120. The 87 Sierra with 4350 out preformed the many powders I tried in a REM 700 and a very old Savage 110. The 4350 will not drop consistently so you must scale each load and that is a pain. Mainly I shot coyotes but I liked what you did with the Reloader 16 and will try it. The 25-06 is now not popular which I cannot understand. Thank for the video.
@@georgezink8256I wouldn’t say I’m scared if recoil I have no problem with this rifle on the bench free recoil. The lead sled is actually a nice rest for some rifles regardless of the recoil reduction.
@@Dmcquown I use my leadsled to zero and I wasn’t saying ur scared of recoil I didn’t understand why most shooters let their rifles bounce up when zeroing their rifles ? I do everything I can to control how my rifle’s recoils ? With that said everyone has their own systems ? My hardest kicker is 7mmstw
I’ve developed loads for my rifles for many years without a chronograph. But it sure helps quite a bit to have one when developing a load. Do you have a video on bedding and floating? Thanks
I have a Savage model 110 heavy barrel 25-06 running 110 eld-x and 100gr nosler plus 115gr nosler have some 85gr nosler for coyotes and groundhogs one thing i will say is anything in 25-06 25cal in general is hard to find still looking for 75gr vmax 87gr hornady is discontinued
Take that center screw out or leave it no tighter than you can get with your fingernail. The magazine box should be loose in between the floor plate and the action, you may have to notch it with a file, I do. I shoot the 87g Sierra and 87g Speer with a HOT load of IMR 4350, at 3600 fps in Winchester brass, neck size with a Forster neck sizer and bump the shoulder back .002 each firing with the Forster neck sizer. This load shoots sub 1/2" groups, and I kill deer and hogs with the 87g Speer Hot core flat base!
