+Jack Grimm I totally get it! I picked up a children's book from Barnes and noble and it was my favorite book as I child so I got it for that very reason and everyone was like "wth he's like 20 or something and reading a baby book".
+Enrique Valdez i dont read that much middle grade or kids books so when people see me they're like "you're the most intellectual and mature person I know why are you reading Cat in the Hat?"
I can't stand when my mom says: "yeah, Liana is a big reader", person: "why don't you buy her an Ebook? It would be less expensive than buying all those books!" Me: *death stare* I want to feel the pages and smell it's fragance, okay?! Technology is taking over the world!".
I love looking at books, turning the pages, the smell of them, and how satisfying it is when you turn the last page or realize how far you are into the book. I can't stand e-books purely because I can't do any of those things. Same with audio books, but I also find that 1) the readers/narrators read really slow (the one book I listened to was over 8 hours long. It cut off halfway through the book, though, so it was probably close to 15 or 16 hours long) 2) I just love reading words on pages, so audio books aren't for me
I actually prefer ebooks , Because instead of turning pages all you have to do is scroll. Also it gives extra information like how many pages left in a chapter , also how much you’ve read with a percentage. Just an opinion ☺️
@@hibaalsiyabi7098 To be honest, one of the reasons for me not to get one is I would read for hours, and I am worried about getting optical migraines... I have history with those, so it's really annoying. I get the satisfaction from the ebook though 😊 I may get one to some point. In the somewhat near future 😂 but still going to take a few years.
@@hipeople9856 I agree with that. And for some reason I don't get any headaches or migraines when I read for hours, as opposed to looking at a screen for half that time. The feeling and the accomplishment of how long you've come since the last couple of hours is amazing. I like feeling the weight from the book too, and looking at my collection, being able to show some close friends and maybe even lend them a few ones if I trust them enough with them. There's a bond, you know? It makes it intimate and private in a way. So I find it fun and entertaining 🥰 Besides, we already do way too many things online. At least I don't need ta battery or a charger to read my book.
+Evandro Roberto Saaaame. A booktuber is most honest when they're not afraid to voice unpopular opinions. I connect with the person a lot more when someone uploads a video of them unhauling or stuff, because I know I'm getting their honest thoughts on it.
I'm really bad at visualizing characters like when a character is described having a long blonde hair, in my head they would have black hair (for some reason). And when the character decided cut their hair in the middle of the book, "he/she took an axe and chopped off their long blonde hair" I'm like the heck since when do they have blonde hair?
Yeah same. In the Divergent Trilogy i always thought about a blonde girl when it comes to Christina.... yeah than i watched the movies and my mind exploded
OH MY GOSH! I'm not alone! My brain just decides to be a savage and make it's own decisions on what the character looks like. *"you don't own me" begins to play*
Sometimes I’ll envision characters how I want them to look not necessarily how the book describes them. Most times it’s cuz I forget the character descriptions but when I do realize they’re not described as the book describes them, I don’t change it cuz I’ve gotten use to the way I envision them.
+Bianca Aguirre omg same I do too but I'm kinda a fast paced reader so I read quickly while I walk and look up quickly to make sure don't bump into anyone or anything lol
this is so me. I read everytime and everywhere. in bus, while walking, in the break in school. you hardly see me not reading. and when i read in public i mostly also listen to music and with some luck, the song has the same emotion as the book gives me in that moment;)
+Twihard Gleek The best part about listening to music and reading, in my opinion, is when you have an intense battle/scene going on and the music matches that perfectly. It adds so much excitement xD.
I've only listened to audio books when I'm driving because I didn't know what people did with themselves when they weren't driving. Like stare at the wall or finger paint or something? Next time I'll try out your Candy Crush method! Thanks Jesse and great video :D
I listen to audio books while cleaning and stuff like that. I tried listening to audio books while driving... can't do it. I need to be focused on the road traffic and I noticed I'm not 100% focused on it while listening to audio books which is sad actually.
+readbyzoe Adult colouring books are great! Otherwise I just listen to audiobooks before bed, when my eyes are too blurry/exhausted from the day (yet my brain isn't) haha.
when I'm reading if a sentence goes to the next page I will keep reading the book until a page ends with the full sentence on one page at the end of said page
1. I hate eBooks, i will never ever read a book on a device unless its like, wattpad 2. I get forehead deep in the fandoms, so much that it might me bad for my mental state 3. I've only just started collecting my books AND I HAVE NO WHERE TO PUT THEM
😂😂 I dont have ebook but i did have wattpad. I dont read wattpad anymore since i cant read in school😔 *#NoBringingOfPhonesInSchool* (I still bring my phone but dont read☝shhhhh😂)
1. If I know there's gonna be a movie adaptation of a book, I watch the trailer first to see if I'm interested and then I will read the book before seeing the movie. 2. If I physically fit the description of a book character, I imagine myself as that character. 3. I love alphabetizing my books on my shelves. It's kinda therapeutic :)
I love your videos! Please do more unboxings. Don't listen to the haters! Also I think your reviews are the best. Honestly you're just really cool and I wish I could met you.
you wanna talk about John Green selfie regrets.... I actually DID take a selfie with him..... then I accidentally deleted it from my computer. #rip also your candy crush/audiobook fact is too real.... I am constantly lying in bed listening to a book and playing 2048+ on my phone
I've just recently found your channel and have watched like all your videos these past couple of days and I just have to say - you're like one of the most likeable people on youtube! I just get so happy listening to you and your silly personality just brightens my day! Stay awesome
Danisnotonfire's diss track video has messed me up bc now every time I hear the words "click subscribe" I wanna sing "click subscriiiiiibe if you wanna watch four videos a year" XD
I have a problem of trying to buy books to read, but I'm too broke because textbooks take over my life and money. Also, I think your brightness setting is turned up way too high. Your face is disappearing into the white light!!
Awesome video Jesse! Recently I bought a bookshelf from Walmart and failed at building it.... :( I don't know how you and Kat do it! Anyway my bookish facts are: 1. I have a hard time writing negative reviews on books. 2. Once I am in a reading slump, I am depressed! 3. I have a habit of watching booktubers like you, right after I read a book so that I can hear everyone's thoughts!
I read the acknowledgments in every book because I don't want it to end 😭😭I love when books have maps too because books rarely keep the reader updated with the concept of time and how long it takes them to get places and how many days are passing.. Etc etcAnd I can just stop reading in the middle of a sentence sometimes and not even care because I am hungry or something I need to do is weighing on my mind so I stop reading go and do it and then when I open then book my eyes usually go right to the sentence I left off on ! 😱😂😂 Those are my 3 bookish facts about me ☺️☺️
For the maps part, there is this one book series, the first book is called Deep Blue (it centers around a character named Serafina, it's written by Jennifer Donnelly) and (the edition that I have) has two maps on it
never clicked a notification so fast. I LOVE CANDY CRUSH!!! PICTURE books are da best jesseeeee mortal instruments!!! airport bookstores are so overpriceddddd soooo bookshelf problems 😂😂 no such thing as too many books my favorite videos of yours are the tags. they are hilarious!!!
You're always so entertaining to watch ^.^ A few bookish facts about me:1) I don't get drawn into fandoms very easily, even though I love seeing others so passionate about them 2) it takes me an average of 2-3 hours to read 100 pages, depending on the density of the book3) I will write notes in my book and underline passages all day, but I take extreme care to keep new books in new condition on the outside :P
Don't let other people stop you from posting unhauling book video! I seriously enjoy unhauling videos. as for 3 bookish facts about me: I love night reading, I'm a book blogger who enjoys both reading blog posts and watching booktube videos, and I read everything (even the ones that aren't in my comfort zone) :)
bookish facts about me: 1) I love to listen to the rain when i read! if it isn’t raining, then i put on a soundtrack of rain in the background 2) My favourite book is “The Art of Racing in the Rain” by Garth Stein and I’ve read it 9 times 3) My favourite harry potter movie is the chamber of secrets but my favourite book is the prisoner of azkaban
1) I love listening to rain as I read, preferably a storm 2) My favorite book is ... Jk... I don't have one. The top 4 are the HP books, the maximum ride series, the Violet Eden Chapters, and the Percy Jacksons. And like a million more. 3) My favorite HP movie is either chamber of secrets or order of the Phoenix, and favorite book is either prisoner of Azkaban or order of the Phoenix. As you can see, I'm very indecisive
I'm horrible at imagining how a character might look so I always fancast them. When I try to imagine them they change so much in my mind that I get stressed.
I'm good at starting a series, good at finishing a series but HORRIBLE at reading the second book in a series. The amount of series that are just sitting on the 2nd book and growing old (to the point where I feel like I need to reread the first because I remember nothing) is ridiculous! Frustrates me so much because I know I'll love them.
I cannot for the life of me listen to audiobooks and understand what's going on because my attention span is barely lasts for 2 minutes when listening to something. I also used to read a lot of ebooks but recently my eyes hurt too much to look at a screen for hours. I've read almost every Meg Cabot book, go ahead... judge me I don't care.
raghad mohammed I agree with that 20000%. I can't listen to audio books. I'll be listening to it, then I'll hear something happen in it, and I'll be like "wait, what did I miss?!". And it'll keep happening.
3 bookish facts are 1. when i get a new book i love to smell the new book smell 2. I watched the all the harry potter movies before reading the books 3. im a one sitting reader and i will stay up all night just to finish a book. love you Jesse your so amazing and i love your videos 💖💖💖
1. I have no problem flouncing a book if I hate it. If a book no longer interests me, then I'll just close it, set it down, and grab a new one. No use trying to force something. 2. No matter where I shop, if a store has a book section, I never fail to find at least one book that I just HAVE TO have. Even when books weren't my reason for going to said store in the first place. Especially then. 3. There's no comfortable position for me to read in. I could be hanging like a bat and it's just not possible.
For number one, in sixth grade, we *had* to finish our books. If we didn't like it, we had to fill out a slip as to why we didn't enjoy it and we could only do that a couple of times. I usually start books outside of school, so this wasn't really a problem for me because they didn't know that I had started it to begin with. I try to give all books a chance, though, I've only set down a couple books in my life time: The 'Magic' series (couldn't get into the plot) Wuthering heights (too confusing of writing for me, I could understand it, but it was daunting to my seventh grade self) And then this one series about large cats. I couldn't get through the first book and I don't remember the name. Didn't like the story.
models usually work with fancasts more than actors, mostly because models usually have a different, unusual beauty which is how most book characters are. i've seen loads of models that look like book characters.
Wou, that was super fast, Jesse :D I would probably be breathless if I would be speaking as fast as you are :D and since you said you would like to know some bookish facts about us here are some of mine :) 1. I ALWAYS go to a bookstore with a list of books I want to read. I ALWAYS read descriptions, think of them in details and so on. I don't buy books just because the title sounds nice, the bookcover is nice and the book just hits me in the face. That doesn't work for me. 2. I'm a slow reader most of the time. My quickest reading pace is a book per 3 days. It takes me usually from a week to a month to read a book depending on the circumstances. 3. I sometimes have a problem with reading the ending of a book if I'm in a middle of the book or I will get into a "dead" or really annoying situation. I just want to know if the book has a happy ending. 4. I usually read books only if I'm on my way to school (and only if I travel by train - otherwise it makes me feel sick). Besides that I prefered reading right before I fell asleep but I don't do that now. 5. If I decide to pick a very popular book (people are talking about it on youtube, on social media and so on) just to see why is everyone so hooked, I usually end up disappointed. 6. I don't actually have a bookshelf. I don't have that many books. I store them in my chest of drawers and I keep only the books which deserve to be kept. I don't keep every single book I've read.
First bookish fact: i got a book signed by its author but it is towards a friend of her who is a philologist (professor) and then her frien signed it too saying it is now her turn to give it away to somebody so she gave it to me as a birthday present back to when I was nine years old. Secondly, all of the bookmarks I use are handmade. I actually have bookmarks that basically advertise other books cause they are from bookstores (I mean duhh) but I never ever use them. Only the ones I make. And the third bookish fact about me is that I can finish a book in a really short period of time but it takes me freakin ages to find the courage and start reading another book once I finish the last one.
Three bookish fact about me: 1- I can't stand it when someone gets near my books. Whenever I hear my sister or parents open my bookcase I'm like "I HEARD THAT. BACK OFF!" 2- I HATE when a book ends in everything being just a dream 😣 3- I usually take a small break between chapters (no matter how small they are) like go drink water or check my phone
Three bookish facts about me!! 1-My sister has a library in her room and sometimes I go and take a book without permission and it isn't a pretty site. 2-I am so confused when I look at a book and it says"This is a book novel from the blank series" So freaking confusing!! 3-I have to many fictional husbands to count aka Percy is an adorable dork!!
I watched movies 1-4 for Harry Potter before reading the books and then right after movie 4 I read books 1-3, then 5-7 and read book 4 last. I'll definitely reread them at some point again. I have reread book 1,2, and 3, but I might start all over again since it's been so long. Don't worry, you are not the only one that did that.
1. I can only read in complete silence, so listening to music is out. 2. I usually get really excited about a book but whenever I get my hands on it I can't get myself to read it (passenger) 3. I read at a crazily fast pace, usually finishing a book or two a day. 😊
love your videos watching them always put a smile on my face lol you mentioned that not a lot of watch your book review videos. unfortunately I am one of those people who haven't watched a lot of them either however the only reason I don't watch them is because more than likely haven't read the book that you are discussing yet. having said that I do watch your book review videos on giving on given books once I have read them
I have a hard time buying a book I have not read...but then I don't want to buy a book I already read because well I have already read it :) I love my local library! If it is a book I really want to read I cannot watch the movie before hand...no matter how long I have to wait. Great video!!
Everytime I watch one of your videos and I have my volume up a litttttle bit to high, you scare me half to death by your swooshie sound at the beginning. HA! I liked this video so much that I recorded the same 'tag' today! :D Jesse, how is it possible that you're bad at reading series? I just want to read more more more from serie if I reallly like it!!
1: I always read the first and last page before I actually start reading 2: I don´t read books in my native language (I am Swedish so I read in English) 3: I put books on the right shelves if I see something in the wrong place in the school library
Go to the Boston airport. I went, a week ago, flying home, I was in the bookstore, the had fREAKING CASSANDRA CLAIR, MAKENZIE LEE, SARAH J MAAS AND A BUNCH OF AUTHORS! around $9.99-$12
3 bookish facts about me are 1. I hate it when my shelf isn't organized and cant fit new books on it2.Whenever I get into a reading slump its always super hard for me to get out of it3. And I have a problem when it comes to buying to many books, but you can never have too many books(:
I can't stand not finishing a book. I've re-read The Chronicles of Narnia at least a dozen times. I watched LoTR before reading the books-but then I did go read them and thoroughly enjoyed them!
So great! I can't believe Book Reviews don't get the most views! They are my fave! 3 Facts: 1. I get bored quickly and have a habit of not finishing books and then feel super guilty. 2. I hate Book Hauls. They don't tell me if the book is good or bad. So why buy it yet? I just wait for the REVIEW 3. I have the pretty editions of Twilight...omg I'm gonna be made fun of :p
1) if there are two pages left in a chapter, (side by side), I would quickly glance at the end of the sentence of the second page to see what happens (just a glimpse!!) 2) I don't usually fancast the book characters either but for some reason i have a set of characters in my head that are already 'casted' for the main characters. 3) i like to read the book nude and without the cover. ;)
I was the same way with Harry Potter! I saw the first 7 movies before I read the books, but I also just turned 9... However I do remember trying to check out Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in kindergarten shortly after it was released😅
I have two bookish facts about myself 1) I sometimes read so mush at school(most of the time when I'm not supposed to) that my teachers take my books away as punishment 2) I read so many books in middle school that the teacher that I had for two years said I could no longer take my AR(accelerated reader) tests anymore once I reached my goal
hahaha I play candy crush while listening to audiobooks too! I feel like if I'm not doing another thing besides listening to the book, I'll get bored and stop paying attention.
I loove this video! :) So one bookish fact about me: When I finish a book and I reaally, really liked it I cannot start another book right away. I still want to think about it and I dont want to leave its world and I feel like if I would start another book right away it is disgraceful to the book I just read. Does that sound weird? :'D
bookish facts about me i'n 41 and my grandmother used to discipline me by threatening to take away my librarycard wheni was eight . my mom said when i was three and was throwing a tavtrumwhen i wasthreee all she had to do waas handme a bookand i'd be fine diddn't matter that i couldn't read. according to my mom all i needed was to hold abook. i had a stroke in september so all i have now is time to read. i live in ct
1. I'm also really bad at finishing series and trilogies. I don't want to buy an entire series at once in case I don't like the first one. 2. I used to be almost compulsive when it comes to reading a book, from beginning to end. Even if it's bad or boring I couldn't just put the book down and get a new one. Recently I've managed to get around this by skimming through the rest of the book in 10 min or less. 3. When I'm in a reading slump, my best cure is books about books.
Wow so I don't know if I've just been really behind on video watching and haven't watched a video of yours in a while (IM THE WORST IM SORRY) or if it's new but I LOVE YOUR END SCREEN IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL
Bookish facts about me: 1. I am really bad at reading books but really good with buying them 2. I often don't envision the story going on in my head... 3. The protagonist of my favorite book series by description looks the exact same as me in real life. Bonus: I can read 10+ books a day if it's manga
Yayyy, you did it! This was really interesting! Also, picture books are weirdly soothing. Like they're just such lovely simple stories and they often are so stunningly designed and illustrated, so no judgement here!
1) I'm so terrible at finishing series. I tend to read the first book, love it, but then not read the rest of the series (idk why). 2) I never fancast! I just think it's so frustrating because while I'm reading I create what I think they look like and then no actors fit them perfectly, so I've stopped trying. 3) I started reading (and loving reading) because of a dare. 4) I'm terrible at maintaining my bookshelves. 5) I've only marathoned three series ever (see reason: bookish fact #1)
When I get into a book I really enjoy I read whenever I can. While eating, going to the bathroom, when I sleep (I don't sleep until I finished it!) between classes even if it's just for 3 minutes. In class. Let's just put it out there: when I get into a good book I really like, I read 24/7 (well 3-8 hours because that's the time it takes to finish it) Also I'm so bad at listening to audio books. I have this thing when I go to sleep when all the people in the world are lying awake for an hour or so before falling asleep I am not. I empty my mind so fast that I fall asleep in minutes, sometimes seconds and I am not joking. Anyway, when I try to listen to audio books my mind thinks I want to sleep so I fall asleep after a few minutes. Very sad because I remember I enjoyed audio books when I was younger and could just lie awake at night listening to them but no I am like a baby. Also I must tell everyone about the book I just read and I'm always so excited and sometimes I don't realize I have told this person about this exact book like five times already. I think I need more friends that obsess about books as I do... Anyways! I soooo want to steal your bookshelfs!!!
