I played GW2 for the first couple of years of that game. Quit sometime in Path of Fire (Second expansion) and I would not say PvP was a focus. WvWvW was mostly one-sided or two out of 3 servers fighting. Structured PvP had an esport and maybe they still do, maybe it grew since I last checked? But I doubt it. In my experience, it is more a PvE-focused game than a PvP. Having only 10 skills* at a time makes it way easier to get into. And probably the same reason League is easier to follow even if you don't play. Having fewer possibilities makes it easier to follow and learn. *10 ability slots. Some classes can swap weapon combos for 4*5 skill combinations or have chained utility. What you see is not necessarily what you get. I would love to see Riots MMO take the approach of fewer skills at a time but more options to choose from
Action combat. At least 24-28 skills/abilities per class. Mostly single target abilities with just a couple of AoE skills per class. Equalized PvP battlegrounds and arenas. Open world PvP and alliance PvP is where gear should matter.
