It is a scary line. No doubt. In one of the cartoon series a man kills himself rather than have to have Vader deal with him. I didn't say who in case you hadn't seen it.
His most bad@$$ line isn’t even in any movie or show. It’s in the Vader comic where he is ambushed by thousands of rebels. “We got you surrounded” “All I am surrounded by is fear… and dead men”🥶🥶🥶
@kpnmn99 Loved it when he told Arsenio Hall that he was punishing him by making him stay in "Our Royal Suite at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel" with all those beautiful Ladies in Waiting he brought from Africa with him, lol.
Fun fact: The "apology accepted" line confused some of the people working on the film, thinking that he was being nice to Captain Needa. It wasn't until they saw the movie that they realized he choked him to death.
John Vernon really was really good at that...he really brought that element to all of his roles. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IKFthgUbCdY.html
Contemplative Whale he had some badass quotes in The force unleashed as well. I can’t remember it exactly but I remember one of the lines was “if you fail, she dies” or something like that. Vader And Thanos have a thing in common where everything that comes out of their mouth is pure gold.
“There is no escape... Don’t make me destroy you.” Such a raw and badass line, but sad at the same time. Vader is almost begging Luke to not force him to kill his own son. I miss when these movies had great characters and writing.
Darth Vader is absolutely hilarious. His dark humor is vastly under appreciated in our star wars meme culture. Apology accepted after choking someone out and then getting staff members to take the body like it’s nothing. It’s hysterical
Vader is always making fun of his adversaries letting them know he has the upper hand in every situation where you share a room with him. You enter a room, get caught off guard by him, try to shoot him to no effect whatsoever, and then to add salt to the wound he formally invites you to dinner as if nothing happened, because you're just that irrelevant to him. Vader truly is hysterical in a "dark humor" (wink wink) sort of way.
The line where he says “Don’t be too proud of this technological terror you have constructed, the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force” is so genius because he basically had to come to terms with what he became and his limitations. He’s one of the wisest movie villains ever.
Captain Needa actually survived the encounter and returned with a different uniform as Captain Leopold since Lord Vader is like the Incredible Hulk: rebel terrorists are worthy targets.
Most of Vader's voices seem pretty sinister. I think I might rather see Palpatine show up. Imagine Vader showing up. He tells you the Emperor is coming. Then you stupidly ask Vader if the Emperor is coming, and he says 'That is correct Commander, and he is most displeased with your apparent lack of progress.' I would abandon ship, for sure. He didn't even say anything sinister in that line. He just warned the guy.
@@laisensei6984 True story. He actually sounded sad/concerned that time. He also didn't sound too scary when he asked Luke to help him take his mask off.
@@827Drew i read the comics and books involving vader. vader was straight up, "you fail, you die." even when vader first made his presence known after the implementation of the suit, ppl didnt respect him and demanded to palpatine that he call the highest command forth, he'd either kill them all or some of them. tarkin was going to die but the emperor said everyone but him. vader is about as ruthless as ruthless can be lol. one thing that stood out about reading the books is that he never laughed once.
I love how when he’s talking to the bounty hunters, when he says, “No disintegrations” he specifically turns and points at Boba because Boba’s got a reputation for that. Even among the Empire, his reputation is still legendary and second to none.
In the original cut, Boba fett killed Luke's family by lining them up and burning them, execution style. They cut that for obvious reasons. Keep in mind this was Anakin's family too, so he might have been genuinely irritated, even though they technically enslaved his mother.
@@iamblight707 "In the original cut"? George Lucas had total control of the entire saga and wasn't under any pressure from studio executives or financiers to cut anything. Moreover, to what film are you referring? Boba Fett was first introduced in The Empire Strikes Back and Luke's family had already been shown killed by stormtroopers in A New Hope. Fett was an independent bounty hunter who had no reason to kill anyone in Luke's family. Then, of Luke's immediate family, only his mother is dead. His sister and father are both alive and well (albeit his father is 'absent').
@@recht_voor_zijn_raap5506 Expected from my part, considering the new values they are showing up since the many upgrades they made to their previous Star Wars game: Battlefront II!
@@JonathanLauzon Make no mistake about it; it's the developers leading those decisions, not EA. Local development leadership is pacing development. EA just decided to keep their hands off. Don't give them unearned credit; Fallen Order was all EA.
It'd have been a laugh if he'd said "Sister... You have a twin sister. Oh, my lightsabre, I'm dad to a little girl, tell me all about her, is she too old for dolls? I know where to get them cheap. Where is she? I want to see daddy's little princess!"
@@whisper__ That might be partly a reference to How It Should Have Ended. They have a running gag where Anakin, both as himself *_and_* as Vader, gets excited about when he or people associated closely with him have families.
In the OT, his wounds were very much healed and he was much much more calm. In the time between prequels and OT, he was hurting and much much more menacing
"Obi Wan _is_ here, the force is with him" "The force is with you young Skywalker, but you are not a jedi yet" "The force is strong with this one" My favorites
"Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed, the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force" - BEST DARTH VADER QUOTE EVER!!!
Nycot size and distance is irrelevant when it comes to the power of the force. Grab a lightsaber from across a room, choke someone on a different star destroyer, fucking kill a bird halfway across the galaxy? The force is connected to everything.
One of my favorites is in Rebels when he orders Minister Tua to meet with Tarkin: "He expects you tomorrow... to *account* for your *failure* " Because who isn't scared of accounting for your failures? Vader knows this. He also knows the failures of nearly everyone in the galaxy pale in magnitude to his own colossal failures. It amuses him to terrify smaller people with their own shadows. It's an expression of his anger that theirs will never be as dark as his.
@@omariroberts5484 Yes that is the way he make the emperor scary They made Vader menacing and made vader scared of emperor they dont have to Show the emperor's strength now twice less work they are geniuses
0:35-1:21 - I always show that footage to all of my high school engineering students. So they can learn the engineering workplace dilemma of Project Uncertainty. Then I ask, "Now, after watching that, who wants to be a Project Director?"
You left out my favourite line! "Sister! So... You have a twin sister! Your feelings have now betrayed her too." His utterly malicious delivery gives me chills every time.
4:14 this line here is really underrated imo because I completely forgot how low and quiet vaders voice can go and it sounds extremely menacing, perhaps even more menacing than his most commonly recognised tone
"Leave the Wookie to me." (Chewy survived). "Leave young Skywalker to me" (Luke escaped) "Leave the Princess to me ..." (in the end, she prevailed). In short, the safest people in the movie seemed to be the ones Darth was going to deal with.
"The emporer is not as forgiving as I am." Not only did the people fear Darth Vader but it made him more feared and on top of that it made those scared terrified of the emporer.
Really?? There's a "end of Kenobi' line? Damn, that only makes the prequels dumber then they already are. "Oh Anakin, you'll be the end of me" Shut up, Lucas!
This is how it feels to be Anakin Skywalker, *forever:* You can hear yourself breathing. It comes hard, and harsh, and it scrapes nerves already raw, but you cannot stop it. You can never stop it. You cannot even slow it down. You don't even have lungs anymore. Mechanisms hardwired into your chest breathe for you. They will pump oxygen into your bloodstream, forever. - On Anakin's rebuilding.
@@MingusDynastyy This is from Vader's surgery in the Revenge of the Sith novel, you can find an audiobook clip of this on RU-vid, it's called something along the lines of "Anakin Skywalker: Forever". I'm reading the book right now and I think it's amazing, I'd definitely recommend!
For those who didn’t know Admiral Piett had been secretly making Ozzle the former admiral of Death Squadron (Vader’s fleet) look bad in front of Vader for about two years before his death. Ozzle was overconfident underqualified and apathetic. As we all know Apathy is death. He got his high possession due to money and a long family history of republic officers from the core. He even believed he was the true owner of Death squadron when everyone knew it was Vader’s fleet and Ozzle was just a figurehead. Piett on the other hand earned his position through hard work and loyalty. He came from a poor planet in the mid rim I think. He was so well known Vader hand picked him to captain the Devastator then later Executor after it was built and was one of the only officers Vader never killed. Among those in the Imperial Navy Piett earned the title “The man so valuable even Darth Vader couldn’t kill him.”
“Your weapon to destroy a planet is still insignificant compared to the force” I love that line so much because no matter how evil he gets he still believes in the force 😭
*"Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed, the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force."
Well the sith love the force too but I do believe the way he said that was more Jedi like since it seemed he was more about serving the force in that line
"Apology accepted, captain needa" "I find your lack of faith disturbing" "Perhaps you think you're being treated unfairly!?" "What is thy bidding my master" "The emperor does not share your optimistic appreciation of the situation" Those lines gives me chills
"YOU WERE WARNED, WHAT DEFEAT, WOULD BRING! I will tolerate your weakness no longer." One of the very few times we ever hear Darth Vader literally scream.
@@FranzFerdinandVIII don't know what his title was - but the quote is accurate - I remember reviewing a video clip before posting this comment to be sure
"The ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the Force." This line gives me chills because it's the Jedi in Vader talking there.
'Don't be too proud of this technological terror you've constructed'. I fucking love that line. Vader swiftly puts it into perspective that even a moon sized planet destroyer pales in comparison to the infinite reservoir of power he and others have available through their faith. He rightly puts it in it's place and sharply denounces it as nothing more than a 'technological terror', regardless of the world of devastation it could and does bring over the course of the saga, because he understands that the force surrounds us, it penetrates us, it binds the galaxy together. An unnatural weapon of evil such as the death star, regardless of it's size in proportion with our heroes, pales in comparison to the power and scope of the energy comprising an entire galaxy and Vader doesn't miss a beat in letting any sneering admirals know that truth.
Darth Vader is the greatest villain in cinematic history....HANDS DOWN. Every single scene with him in it is perfect...literally. Will anyone EVER forget the opening scene of Episode IV, when Vader enters the blown out blast door & surveys the dead rebels. I think not. That scene was burned into my head at 7 years old & it remains my favorite of all time. There should be a whole series of episodes of no one, but Vader.
I cannot agree more with you. I was 7 years old when I went to see SW with my dad (rip). I think the age minimum was 10. I pretty much scared out shit when seing that first Darth Vader scene and I went down hiding behind the row of chairs in front of me every time during that film when Darth Vader emerged, so my very first SW experience was pretty much jumping on and off my seat.
To me Darth Vader ONLY falls short to the Joker, but it's really tight. As for the rest, i agree 100%, he's so iconic that even people who've never seen Star Wars know who he is and know his lines. He's that huge
Abinash Pattanaik well the problem is that the final trilogy of this franchise added NOTHING to the universe building or aesthetic of Star Wars while shitting on what has already been built, and it does so in canon
R.I.P David Prowse, I’ve never been a Star Wars fan but I will always enjoy David Prowse as Darth Vader and James Earl Jones as the voice of Darth Vader. May the force be with you David Prowse and remember you don’t know the power of the dark side.
My first introduction to Star Wars was in 2002 in Nigeria. I was 8 years old and randomly skipping channels on cable TV when I stumbled on A New Hope airing. Back then, lots of old American movies would air on local cable for free. I had no idea what it was but teh sci-fi look instantly hooked me as a little boy! I watched teh entire thing that afternoon. Thankfully, the power didn't go out as it tends to in Nigeria and from that day, I became a Star Wars fan🤩🤩 Fortunately, the week after that, I saw Empire Strikes back on the same channel at the same hour! Turns out, the original trilogy was being aired for free that week. Truly, it was pire chance but wonderful that it happened.
