Another one from Season 1. Jaime and Cersei are talking about Bran becoming a cripple. Jaime says something about he'd rather die than become a cripple (oh, the irony). Tyrion answers: "I disagree, brother, death is so final. But life... life is full of possibilities."
@@alterworlds1629 Martin said in an interview that Tyrion's lines were like the comebacks that he would think of too late to be able to say naturally in conversation. Makes sense that the good lines ended after the show began to stray from the books.
"And now I've struck a king. Did my hand fall from my wrist?" He has many amazing lines but this is definitely one of my top favs. Basically anytime he makes a fool of Joff.
@Mike burner at least in the romantic view of abosulte monarchy ;) hade more royal guards operated that way i suspect there would been more monarchies still around
@@kk-pb3du It was a threat, joffrey called tyrion a monster and tyrion proceeded to insinuate that a king like joffrey could as well be killed just as Robb stark was. That's why if you watch the whole clip, joffrey tells tyrion that he could be hanged for such a comment.
I love how Joffery always had that small fear of Tyrion. He might mouth at him, but he was always apprehensive of the discipline that followed, and that showed up beautifully in the acting too.
He knows that Tyrion has no problem putting hands on him. It’s easy to be a bully to people who are scared to touch you. Not so much to someone who has proven that they’re not afraid.
Let's be honest, every quote of Tyrion is the best of Tyrion. Edit: alright guys this comment was made 7 years ago long before those last few shitty seasons came out and ruined tyrions character by making him make the same dick and ball jokes over and over. My comment was based on the excellent writing of the first few seasons.
For me, Tyrion was hands-down the best character of the series. Loved seeing his character develop into the man he became. He actually would have been the best King. If not him then Jon.
He'd make a much better king than Jon. Jon tended to do stupid things even when he was advised not to do them by people he knew had more experience and knowledge.
@@daverhoden445 Agreed, Tyrion would have been the best king of anyone in the show. Good enough to do the right thing, savvy enough to do the smart thing, and knew when to do which if he couldn't do both.
@@daverhoden445 : True, although Jon would have been a good King because of his good heart, honesty, moral convictions, and bravery, he did have the same weaknesses that his Stark father and brother Rob had. That was to occasionally make ill advised decisions from the heart rather than from the head.
Jeoffry: "If i tell the hound to cut you in half he'd do it without a second thought" Tyrion: "That would make me the quarter man, just doesnt have the same ring to it" 😂😂😂
He was the first character that really won my love on this show. So smart, funny, sarcastic, acid, brave and with a surprisingly kind heart. I'll be eternally bitter about the writers ruining him too.
I do too. I love how honorable he was with her and how he also defended her against everyone, especially Joffrey. I also love how Sansa was at first hesitant around him but then seemed to relax around him a little bit. I think they make a great match.
angel whispers Thinking back on all the other actual or potential husbands she has known (the sadistic psychopath Joffrey, the homosexual Loras Tyrell, the worse sadistic psychopath Ramsay Bolton, the brain-addled Robin Arryn, the vicious Littlefinger), I'm sure she adores Tyrion, has nothing but love for him, and wishes she had never left his side... LOL
"When you cut out a man's tongue you're not proving him a liar, you're only telling the world you fear what he might say" Is that one in the series or only in the books?
lalle5000 I don't remember hearing it in the show. I also thought it was littlefinger who said it. Its been a while since I read the books so I may be wrong.
I've read the books and can confirm: he says that after Cersei has the tongues of some guys who say Joff's a incest baby at King's Landing. Or it's that she wants Stannis's tongue cut out for calling Joff an incest baby. I can't remember which.
Davin Sweet 12 at dinner was still a lie, the idea of betrayal had a fight that killed loads as a result. Tywin was a cruel puppeteer, but honor is not among the qualities he possessed.
2:59 i love that bit " im not ned stark i understand how the game is played" Ned was truly a fool when it came to polotics he was a warrior thats it . Tyrion is no nool when it comes to polotics and he lets everyone know they can do him like they did ned.
@@daverhoden445 Even then, it took _everything_ the court could throw at him to make Ned break. If Petyr Baelish had even a shred of honor, Ned would have won. Hell, if Ned accepted Renly's offer to secure the royal brats, he would have won.
@@andyknightwarden9746 Ned basically did win. In the show there's literally 1 Lannister left while the Starks rule the entire continent. In the books Cersei's reign is in the shitter with like 5 rebellions happening at once, meanwhile the only thing the Northern lords disagree on is whether to install Jon or Rickon on the throne once every last Bolton has been assassinated. Ruling with honour might get you killed but it has the benefit of your descendents' subjects not wanting to murder them.
Violet Copper jack gleeson.... outstanding acting "monster.... perhaps you should speak to me more softly then.... monsters are dangerous, and right now kings are dying like flys...."
i think joffrey plays a better villain than ramsey...people just got 100% more triggered than they already were when he raped sansa...other than that joffrey is an overall better at being a villain
Abdo Lol no he isn't, Joffrey is a horrible villain, he does nothing but whine and order petty punishments. Ramsay on the other hand, is a great villain, he orchestrated the siege of winterfell by tricking Theon, and then tortured him and broke him down into a mere roach, he cunningly foiled stannis's plans to take winterfell (though they were already boiling down after he burned his daughter). Ramsay was a true terror, unlike Joffrey. The only reason Ramsay met his demise is because through insecurity and jealousy he killed his own father. Joffrey met his despise because he was an awful person with no value to anyone.
David Hughes No Joffrey was not horrible villian. He was just a normal useless whiner. He didn't have any character aspect. But he was lucky of his kind to be the crown prince. The only thing he got was that and that made him who likes to feel his strength since he had nothing else. He wasn't a villian he was just a vicious idiot just like tyrion said. But yes, Ramsay was a real villian. Smart, strong, brave and evil.
"Ohh a monster.. Perhaps you should speak to me more softly then. Monsters are dangerous, and just now kings are dying like flies." Tyrion has won the world
"I will hurt you for this. A day will come when you think you are safe and happy, and your joy will turn to ashes in your mouth. And you will know the debt is paid." THAT'S the best Tyrion Lannister quote in the entire series.
Tyrion MADE the show. Every time he was on screen I couldn't WAIT to see what he'd say and/or do. I loved the relationship between him & Sansa. He was so kind to her & she showed him the respect he deserved.
When you go into a show, thinking that the dwarf is gonna be a conniving coward with more brains than balls. Then you keep watching and realize he's the best character in the show and is just straight up awesome. IMP SLAP!
I love the part where Tryion responds "As has Jamie, repeatedly, according to Stannis Baratheon." If you look at Tryion's face, you can see him trying not to say it. But he just has to. Great acting.
They should've totally had the one from s1 e1 between him and Jon Snow. So many good ones to pick from. “My brother has his sword, King Robert has his warhammer and I have my mind...and a mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone if it is to keep its edge. That's why I read so much Jon Snow.”
I love how, whenever Tyrion says things to Joffrey, you can actually see in Joffreys eyes that he is learning from Tyrion, or at least taking into account what he is saying. He's also shocked that someone is saying these things to him xD
Tyrion was one of the few with the balls to call him out when he was being excessively stupid and had a backhand strong enough to knock some sense into him. I bet if he had raised the twerp joffrey would have grown into a far less worthless monster of a king. He might have been another cruel tyrant, but at least he wouldnt have been a petty obvious one.
They cut out one of the best jokes; "Cut off his manhood and feed it to the goats" Tyrion "There are no goats half man" Hill tribe man "Well, make do" Tyrion
Everyone does that it seems, also the Beard scene I believe was before that one, It's indeed the best one if done fully, because just the first line is Meh
Fiona Simpson Not him though. His family should be happy they never managed to get him accepted as lord of Winterfell. He'd be a very dangerous opponent.
Correction: he does care for her. More as a father figure than a husband though. He...feels bad for her because her brother, father, mother, and (at the time of marriage, believed at least) her SISTER was dead. She was abused by that little fucknugget Joffrey, and when he died it was a god damn Comedy Central special. L O L T H E R E S N O T H I N G E L S E
“I will *not* give my life for Joffrey's murder, and I know I'll get no justice here, so I will let the gods decide my fate. *I demand a trial by combat.”*
@@paeanblotch6396 Meaning obviously it's "one of, if not the best character in the show". It's the character with the most time in the books, so obviously.
Tyrion's words in the first few seasons - “Those are brave men knocking at our door, let’s go kill them!” "I drink and I know things" "I'm not questioning your honor...I'm denying its existence." "I have a tender spot in my heart for cripples, bastards and broken things." "The world won't let you forget what you are. Armor yourself in it." "Monsters are dangerous, and just now, kings are dying like flies." "We've had vicious kings and we've had idiot kings..but i dont know if we've ever been cursed with a vicious idiot" Tyrion's words in the last season - "VaRyS nO cOcK hAhAhA" "WhO hAs A bEtTer StOrY tHaN bRaN tHe BrOkEn?" Can't believe how D&D butchered Tyrion's IQ in half, as if his height wasn't enough of an impediment.
He was one of my reasons for watching this show. Great actor, great character, great writing and direction. What he may have lacked in size and athleticism he more than compensated for with mental acuity, focus, courage, humor and humanity. Truly the imp lol!
The slavers wanted to amputate Tyrion and sell his lucky charm to a merchant, They reckon they don't need to take the entire dwarf as proof of origin, Tyrion cries, "Guess again!" How Jorah and the slavers kept a straight face I'll never know.
Tyrion really has the same energy as Gregory House. Smarter than everyone, witty as all get-out, physically disabled. They even share a lot of facial features. And the funny part is, their actors are pretending to do each other’s real accents.
Queen Justin Bieber:You're talking to a king! Tyrion:And now i struck a king! Did my hand fell from my wrist? *tyrion walks away while king's guard opens passage* most epic moment till the trial
what happened to "a day will come when you think your safe and happy and your joy will turn to ashes in your mouth and you will know the debt is paid" in the books that scene and the scene where he stares down jaime are the best
Dan & Dave rushed the last season because they were promised to be at the head of the next Star Wars trilogy. That's why they screwed up the last season and rushed everything, destroying what was the maybe the best fantasy TV show ever. They could have taken all the time they wanted but crammed everything down into a few laughable episodes.
"A monster... Perhaps you should speak to me more softly then. Monsters are dangerous and just now kings are dying like flies..." is in my opinion the absolute perfection of lines xD. Threat, joke and truth all in one and it's amazing!
"When you tear out a man's tongue, you are not proving him a liar, you're only telling the world that you fear what he might say" This is one of the best Tyrion quotes, but I think it did not make it into the series. It is from the books.
Tyrion - "Where are the Gods of tits and wine?" Varys - "In the summer isles... they worship a fertility goddess with sixteen teets." Tyrion - "We should sail there immediately!" lmao... absolutely brilliant!
Tyrion was my favorite character from both the books and the series. And, Peter Dinklage did a fabulous job of portraying him! I had seen him in other roles and liked him, too, but Tyrion is the run away best!
The "half-man" is a foot smarter than Everybody else in the room! :-) Tyrion Lannister: they might call him the half-man, but in truth he is twice the man where it really counts! I miss his verbal bouts with Joffrey Baratheon. Joffrey could never better his uncle, however much he wanted to! :-)
@@Chalice1017 that's too true and accurate to our current.... leader. Man I seriously don't think of him as our leader. I feel like game of thrones "I'm not questioning your presidency but I'm denying it's existence"
His diabolical wit and paradoxical perspective always leaves me with the genuine gratitude of having the inability to reach the heights of his talented craft. Love him!
The man with small height but huge acting skills and perfect attitude to face camera Hail The Halfman, Hail one the best dialogue deliver in Hollywood Hail Lord Tryion🙌🙌🙌🙌
Honest Tywins failure was not noticing that Tryrion was EXACTLY what he wanted in a son, but he just couldn't look past the fact that Tyrion was a dwarf.
