25 KV-85 vs 15 Tigers - against the odds? Legendary German Tiger tank is going to face a slightly overwhelming number of Soviet heavy KV-85. For that, we jump back into Gates of Hell, a game with one of the highest realism levels of any strategy game, where we're doing our first cinematic tank duel scenario and it's going to be epic.
Besides, we use a custom map, which is a remaster from MoWAS2 RobZ mod, Warfare 3 MP map.

This is true turning a bit to the left or the right provided the same level of protection as if the front plate was angled vertically and can be seen in german army tank manuals of the time

@@SuperErikRoss and from the archive video's i've seen of tigers engaging most of the time they have their tank agled in contrast to the gun. Tiger crews were selected from the best regular panzer crews so they were elite in operating a tank. Unfortunatly this simulation does not take in account the bad optics of russian tanks and supreme optics of the germans, a tiger could not only defeat armor at range but confidently hit it aswell.

@@marcelkroeze7580 yep not only that but i saw a whole video about how the Gemans stole the steering system from the English This new system allowed one track to go forward while the other track went in reverse making the tank able to pirouette in place also had a steering wheel this system made the Tiger 1 easier to drive and much more manueverable then the old two sticks and all the pedals type of steering

Thanks to Warefaregaming for putting up a stunning looking video. In real scenario although German machines are unbeatable on paper. In reality 1. Half of the Tigers run out of gas before facing the russians. 2. After crushing 25 KVs Red Army send more 25 in battleground. 3. Russian artillery already annihilated half of the armour and ammunition depot. 4. Mechanical failure are chronic problem of over engineered German machines in harsh cold temperatures of Russia.

Sorry but that is BS... with only 135 KV-85s ever built you would not find a battlegroup of 25 anywhere, much less two battlegroups.Also Tiger I was more reliable than Tiger II due to its lighter weight. It did not suffer as many breakdowns and at this stage in the war the German synthetic fuel plants were running at 100% and the Ploesti oil fields were too...

Excellent and fairly accurate depiction! 👌 I personally liked all the suspension hits to the tigers with the flying mudguards and broken tracks. Russian gunners were taught to hit the tracks of tigers to stop them from maneuvering. Whereas German gunners were trained for first shot kill. Well done!

Seems pretty accurate. The Tigers prevailed, but lost 2/3 of their numbers doing it. Can't help but wonder how it would have gone if the Soviet tanks had kept moving instead of merely taking up static positions and allowing the German gunners to zero in on them. As the range closed, their 85mm guns would have become a much greater threat.

Actually the iron of the tiger make it more harder. Nominally is a 100-102mm in front but the great iron quality make it as 110-112mm.

British tests concluded that the Tiger's armor performed 13-20% better than should have been expected from the sheer thickness. In addition the effective front turret was 140 - 225 mm (mantlet + turret armor). The center of the mantlet was 140-150 mm, while the rest was 90-125 mm backed up by heavy bars of 100 mm turret armor.

As a russian, I would like to say that KV-85 had been very rare tank. It was replaced with IS-1 who eas a bit better, but, honestly speaking, IS-1 would be devastated by tiger too, unfortunately.

With only a total of 135 KV-85s built I think you would be hard pressed to find 25 on a single battlefield fighting Tigers... more likely you would find more Tigers vs the KV-85 than the other way around,,,

Umm using War Thunder as a source for Russian APHE isn’t a good idea.Their penetrations are slightly exaggrated compared to actual and they also ridiculously overperform against sloped armor.

@@Kalashnikov413 Before putting forward your opinion, read the documents and not the game World of Tanks. The KV-85 was produced in a limited batch and was considered an obsolete tank in 1943. Its 85mm cannon could pierce the Tiger's forehead from 800 meters, while the Tiger pierced the KV-85's frontal part from a long distance of 1,500 meters. The KV-85 was in no way considered an enemy of the Tiger, the real enemy of the Tiger was and remains the IS-2.

KV-85 wasn't a perfect design, it had some flaws. That's why they made the IS-1 and then IS-2.

the armor strength of the tiger 1 is wrong,110mm is the mantlet....the front is 100mm and the front hutt below is 60mm,and the front above is 80mm .....and the side below is 60mm,.....

The bottom front hull is not listed. 102 mm front hull and 102 mm on the front superstructure. But you are correct with 110 mm on the front Mantle and 62 mm on the lower side hull.
