Re #15 and #12, I did those surveys, called the American Time Use Survey, for a living until my retirement last fall. Working for the federal government became more and more strenuous during the time of shutdowns and malicious politics, but when we see the results of our work used on such visible and great sources as List 25, it makes it all worth it! Thank you, Mike. And to all List viewers, you're welcome for the info in those two items!

Since you have revealed the existence of this discrepancy, you'll have to be called in for interrogation. It could get rough." JUST JOKING, if my ex-employer is reading this. Actually, Mike's script did not account for the singles compared with couples, children who do housework (which I suppose happens once in a while), hired housekeepers, and maybe even robot vacuum cleaners. IOW, for several reasons those numbers should not be expected to add up to 100.

Hello ☺😎😇 ! What strikes me as the most shocking is that 50 percent of Americans couldn't read a book! Incredible sad to be honest. All that generation who hang out in the park scrolling thru their cells all day long? For info: I read books in 3 languages, fluent, and talk them, too. My small apartment I share with over 3.600 books in each language I read, most are literature, biographies, mythology, history, art history... and.. I love my books, couldn't do without them. And their knowledge! A largely unknown fact is that the adult lifespan has not increased significantly over the past centuries; the statistic about average lifespan being thirty years in the medieval period was driven by truly horrific rates of infant and maternal mortality, with up to half of all children born dying before their first birthday. Barring death from military activity or accidents, if you survived to adulthood, you could expect to live to your sixties.

Could someone please explain about number 2. He states that the percentage of mothers dying in child birth is closer to 100%?? That means I don't have a mother, you don't have a mother. He doesn't have a mother. Which I know for a fact is 100000000000000% false. Yes some mothers die during child birth, but I'm willing to bet my life and a cookie that it has never been at any stage of human history ever been remotely close to ever reaching even 40%, let alone 99%. Should you expect someone aged 27-42 to have sufficient funds for retirement? IN my late 20s, my wife and I had no money at all in retirement. IN our early 30s I was able to start a 401K (they just started becoming common) and our net worth may have finally started being in the black if we didn't use HHG as an asset. Our early 40s was different but we certainly didn't have enough then. We ended up retiring at age 58 & 59. It is unrealistic to think you would have sufficient funds to retire by that age.

80 times driving drunk before being caught? 1) That's a very precise and round number. Why not 81? or 79? 2) Are we allowed to ask where they ascertained that figure from? Is there a national spreadsheet of people who call up to log each time they have driven drunk without being apprehended? This one definitely falls under the 'a number plucked out of someone's arse' category I'm afraid.

I keep stuff on my bed, but that's because my arthritis causes me to roll over or switch and in the past, until I realised what was happening, I fell out of my bed, or hit the wall. It hems me in along with furniture up against my pillows. In the UK we have state pensions, but you have to have accrued enough income tax to get one, otherwise you have to have a private pension or live on benefits in old age, if you can get it. The problem with actually being clever, is realising what a lot of big headed idiots, some people are. It always shocks me how many people ignore eyesight problems, some of then walk into other people in the street. My late father was a student at Cambridge, when he met my late mother who was working for a government agricultural office, as a secretary, in Cambridge, England in the fifties.
@kaydisney9872
@kaydisney9872 Месяц назад
Except if you are say on disability benifits and cannot pay taxes, they are payed for you but still technically not enough. You still get a state pension however, which is then topped up by other benifits, so you get the money anyway!!!! It's not like you have none. It's the exact same amount as state pension, more if you need help, such as attendance allowance to pay someone to help you with stuff, on top of everything else.

My mother says she "has loads" on pension plus pension credit, but I think that's a boomers thing cos like my Heart Generation grandmother was same, like she died a LOT of years ago, but was so grateful for, you know, benifits!!!! I feel like the older generations remember having nothing, or growing up with parents who grew up pre benifits, so to them they are just so happy to afford stuff. My mum can pay her bills and food. On other hand, when we were kids they struggled a LOT. (My siblings and I are a mix of young Gen X and Millennials) I worry about what happens when especially us younger ones end up as pensioners! Statista Consumer Insights reported in 2024 that **50%** of Americans are baseball fans. Maybe you misread the stat for people who have attended games in the past year, or people's favorite sport, or who have played the sport at HS level and above? Either way, you should really do more rigorous research for all statistics, let alone the one quoted in the video thumbnail. (Unless I've just bit on some particularly Evil bait, with such an absurd "stat" displayed specifically for the purpose of antagonizing baseball fans.)

As for that 19% statistic, we gay men skew the numbers. If we don’t do our housework the only person we have to pawn it off on is another man. 🙂

Wechsler Adult, Stanford-Binet or Cattell? Stanford-Binet is the most popular and common but their scale runs thusly..... 80-89 low average, 90-109 average and 110-119 high average. I believe Wechsler is the same but I am not certain? 120-129 is considered superior. The rest, above average are 130-144 gifted or very advanced 145-160 very gifted or highly advanced.
