I'm very fortunate didn't make a millions mistake. There are honorable mentions like when Hoover in England sold vacuums really cheap and gave trips to US but the real earnings weren't enough 😮, when Edna Morris at Red Lobster sold at the all you can eat King crab legs that in 2003 were scarce and sales weren't enough she ended being fired The president of Peanut Corporation of América who let sell peanuts that weren't good quality people got sick and some died, he ended being jailed 😮

I tried New Coke, and all I can remember is it was very sweet (sugary) and that it was on the shelves for months at stores.

A greater mistake for the titanic was the replacement of one of the officers, the one that was replaced still had the keys to the binocular locker on him. Thus the lookouts didn’t have access to them.

I tried New Coke. It was super sweet even sweeter than Pepsi. The thing was they switched from real sugar to high fructose corn syrup, and they had NO IDEA IT WAS SICKENING SWEET. they reduced the amount of high fructose corn syrup and went back to the original recipe. Today's Coke isn't quite as good as the original. You can taste the difference. Try a can of coke, then try a Mexican coke in a glass bottle. New Coke was an attempt to save money

A mistake by a bank in GB putting 50 pound notes instead of 5 pound notes cost the bank millions of pounds if they took out 50 pounds they got 500 many people ended up draining the machine when they found out the mistake

#26 Missouri, Texas Post Office ... Package delivery stalled for weeks ... Pulled out old sorting equipment (both lines) and then found new equipment would not fit in building. No solution as of today.

That "Silver Lining" after the Titanic disaster is what led to the Eastland disaster which killed even more people and didn't even make it out of the port. Basically, lifeboats are heavy AF and since they needed enough for everyone... they did just that. So lots of extra weight from the lifeboats + overcapacity on the passengers and... "Do a Barrel Roll!" took on a new meaning back then.

One of my good friends lost his little sister in the Cedar Fire. It nearly broke him. My husband and I volunteered to work in one of the red cross shelters in the early hours of that fire. It was absolutely terrifying and I get anxious when we have the same weather conditions.

My high school built an addition in 1977 that included a swimming pool. It was supposed to be measured in meters, so it could be used for official swim meets, but somewhere along the line, meters got recorded as yards. So the 50 yard pool that was supposed to be 50 meters was over 2 1/4 meters short, and by the time it was discovered, they couldn't just bust out a couple walls, and expand it. So it could only be used for recreational uses. And I don't think they ever tracked down who was responsible

A woman in Louisville was delivering newspapers at 6 am - one of three jobs she was working to get by financially - when found an oddly grey M & M in the bag she was munching. She ate it along with the others, then less than an hour later heard on her car radio an ad for the M & Ms Million Dollar Giveaway. The company had placed 12 grey ones in random bags shipped around the nation - with each grey M & M getting the lucky purchaser $1 million. She had eaten a million dollars. This woman was a writer who wrote an essay about the episode of her million dollar morning snack, for which she won the top award at an open mic night (I also read at that one, and she stole the show!) She’ll keep our respect and admiration for a lifetime, whereas the million bucks would have been gone decades ago!

The Titanic one is a myth. The Captain was not in a race and while the life boats were definitely lacking and few were sent off full they met with current regulations. The sinking did change regulations making ships carry enough life boats for all on board.

Although not as costly as some of these, another fun one was the Corpus Christi Harbor Bridge project, which is supposed to replace the US hwy. 181 bridge in Corpus Christi, Texas. Started in 2016 and slated for completion in 2020, it's still not built as of this writing. Original price tag was $930 million, but it's been estimated to cost so far over $1.25 billion and the final price tag is still unknown.

Hi Mike! The new Coke was too sweet and kind of flat. R C is better anyway. By the way, there isn't any difference in taste between fructose and sucrose. Just try some Coke from Dublin, Texas, made with sugar (sucrose) and regular Coke made with fructose. You can't tell the difference. I know it's not just me because I've had people who swear there's a difference, try to pick which was which, and hardly anyone got it right.

I was actually part of the desperate taste testing for new Coke VS Pepsi and RC Cola. I was easily about to tell the difference between them, since I was I think 15 at the time, and was a Coke Girl, not Pepsi. New Coke was bland and dull, barely carbonated, and caused an instant film in your mouth. You do not want to have to brush your teeth after having Cola of any kind, UGH! It truly was terrible, and I did advise the New Coke was a bad idea that could destroy the company. The Testers were unamused, yet they agreed with me!

I was born in 1970 and I tried New Coke. It was sweeter than old Coke and less bubbly as I remember. I was a Pepsi and Dr. Pepper drinker for the most part so it was a fade in my eyes. What I miss was Crystal Pepsi, it was good but Coke torpedoed that with Clear Tab which was god awful.

My biggest and most expensive mistake was when I accidentally “killed” someone. Well I mean this not literally. See life insurance is all about life and death. And the beneficiary gets the money of the disease. I accidentally marked someone who is to this day prob still alive as dead and yeah… it’s expensive to fix that mistake. (Luckily it is the most common mistake for beginners)

New coke tasted flat and had a twang I disliked. Original coke was much better with fizz and a slightly sweet taste. Mexican coke made with real cane sugar is the closet thing to real, old fashioned coke today.
