My dad had a kidney-pancreas transplant in 1992, and has had three kidneys and two pancreases ever since. All of his native organs still had some function, so it was thought to be preferable to add, rather than to replace. Post-transplant medication regimens are complex, but critical to keeping your new organs healthy and preventing rejection. If you or someone you know is contemplating getting an organ transplant, it's best to prepare for it by making sure you are taking your medications correctly before the transplant, as that habit can save and extend your life after the transplant.

Tony Especially in the health/medical field, disclaimers are required by law. There's even a disclaimer on cigarette packs. Every patient is different, in some way. There can be two or more patients with the same (type of) issue, but they have different things done and/or have different results. In October '15 I found out I have heart block and ended up with a pacemaker. They could've recommended a heart transplant, but it's not really necessary as heart block isn't something that a transplant is particularly necessary (although I could get one). Siobhan, I appreciate the disclaimer. It's the smart thing to do.

So this may go unread but still wanted to express how much I appreciate what you do: I'm sure you, like any other person, do have your down days but the optimism you hold comes right through! I am a 19 y/o who has conditions that require regular hospital trips (and it's always been like that - in fine on the whole tho haha) and what I can is that a smile and the glimmer of hope that can give with a few optimistic words can do what sometimes even medicine cannot do! I've been treated by not so optimistic medics too in the past (although lucky not as often) and so I really appreciate how med staff like you show that glimmer of hope, where there otherwise may not even be, and that too when you yourselves work so incredibly hard!!!!!!

I love your videos I think you’re a remarkable person and physician. Your dedication to the patients and community you serve is very heartwarming. And to find the time to edit and make these videos and share a part of your life to the world is absolutely encouraging and inspiring.

I've watched your videos for quite awhile now... lately the stories you have had sounded quite familiar. Turns out I index your hospital records.. those 38 pages you took would be the reason I was so busy last week! Lol I have some medical training and find your videos so informative and interesting. Your dedication to uploading and the insane shifts you work is pretty inspiring as well. Love from a local

I knew all the transplant trivia cause I got one at 10 months old. Fun fact: mine were removed so I only have one, and it's been up and running for 18 years now. I have a special appreciation for what you do.

I had a kidney transplant from my favourite teacher Amanda! It took me a while to recover but Amanda (still today) is with me every step of the way from school to meditation to hospital addmitions to all the other stuff! And as usual Amanda sometimes had to be there when facing my biggest fear almost every day (needles 💉) but itz part of my daily meditation and it has to be done!
