This is one of a series of videos on the first Scottish War of Independence, 1296-1328.
After Robert the Bruce's disastrous move to take the Scottish throne in 1306, his army was destroyed, his womenfolk had been taken by the English and he was on the run, living as an outlaw. In the spring of 1307, he made his return to mainland Scotland's shores and once again staked his claim to the kingdom. This video covers the events of 1307 and the first tipping in the balance of power in Scotland.
Note the content of this video links closely with the events dramatised in Netflix's 'Outlaw King'.
