Richard explains things very clearly, and points out important details. Teresa does a great job focusing on those details. I'm not allowed to cut grass before Easter so that we can hide the eggs better.
Damn Dodge!!! Thanks Richard!!! Got my 700R4 pump and converter in from a hard parts supplier in Chicago. After Dad played with the pump a half hour he realized it wasn't lined up!!!! Had to loosten up the bolts to line the pump properly. Shouldn't the pump rebuilder have the damn thing lined up when they shipped it to me???!!! Can't get good work out of anyone anymore. Thanks for doing good work Richard.
Love y'all.....tried to call....shop changes have me at a dead end. No worries tho....got our hard parts for our 700R4. 52 Commander....dude stabbed the torque converter wrong. Took an hour to get it out. Fresh rebuild so the pump & converter is all that it's getting. Thanks for all of the education!!!
Sonnax is the way to go, like you said it's a better metal and it'll be hardened unlike the factory stuff. Happy Easter. You're right about retirement, I'm busier now than I was when I was working. I don't work on school buses anymore but my own stuff and different projects never seem to stop lol. Next in line is my 71 Demon getting the transmission pulled and sent out for a rebuild and get it ready for a drag n drive in October. One of our stops will be Amarillo Dragway.
I’d second the motion to Sonnax upgraded spline. Hardened better quality larger shaft over unhardened shaft that just failed. Obviously a no brainer! Lol
I noticed your old transmission jack you had it I used to work with one that was made by gray automotive and that was one hell of a transmission jack the first stage was air and then you pumped it by hand, the rest of the way and what was need about that jack the lady told me I called her about some potential parts Find out we didn’t need them anyway that jacks were designed in the 40s and they could still get parts that was clear back into the 80s all right I like your shop unfortunately I wish you would do carryout but you don’t cause I have a 47 Rh for my Dodge and I really want you to do it but Anyway I promise you I know how to reinstall for example, your Christ or torque flight the torque converter was approximately 7/16 of an inch back from the flange of the bell housing. That was my old 727 all right catch you later this is six in a row.Jim from Kennerdell Pennsylvania
It is interesting that some transfer case seal kits will not come with the oil pump O ring. That is really something. I think I would specify using the brand kits that do include them vs. those who do not. Maybe those manufacturers need some feedback from the wholesalers to include them for obvious reasons.
Richard, do you ever get into the RFE units found in the dodge gas trucks? I have an 08 2500 5.7l 545RFE and would love to see a tear down on one at some point.
How did the splines get wore out, when it has that double lock that keeps any slack away from the spline's.?? it looks like even if the splines weren't there the shaft would still turn just using llocking dog's.
100% agree, my thoughts are this modification was done after the splines wore out, and if that is true, the locking dogs are doing just fine. if that was my transfer case i would say if its not broken don't fix it.
I've watched that show for years, and Richard is a really shrewd sailesmen. he talks people into buying way more expensive parts then they need on the pretext that the blueing is faded. or it Just might brake. I don't know, i'm starting to see a little underhanded sailsmen ship going on. He keeps saying he cant make build videos because it would take to long, is that really the reason?? he made one a few years ago, why have thing changed.?? @@frankmouskovias8921
Hey Richard this is Cam up here in Michigan im sure your busy right now making things look easier then they are. I dont have much experience rebuilding transmission ive down maybe 8-10 with a mentor. But im struggling getting any endplay at the input shaft ive got something messed up i just cant seem to figure it out its a 4l60e 2013 style. Ive got about .030 in the output shaft everything spins freely triple checked bearing placement clutch clearance is there any thing you could recommend i look back maybe a problem with the input drum assembly? Any recommendations would be appreciated thank you sir have a great weekend.
@@imtheonevanhalen1557 I don't have a problem doing that but I would prefer to get parts from a reputable place like someone that Richard and Teresa use, they are transmission specialists and have a large group of dependable suppliers to choose from
@@richardteresacricheducatio3542how do I get a hold of you for pricing on a 4T65E 2002 GTP transmission? It's supposedly a built one. Engine has some work done to it. But when I got the car it didn't last long
