In 1982 this converted F4U got a huge Pratt and Whitney 4360 installed along with getting clipped wings and a modified canopy and sloping turtle deck for reduced drag. In its first Reno race it finishes forth in the Gold Race. Steve Hinton and John Maloney race this winning airplane for 12 years before it goes down in 1994 at the inaugural Phoenix 500 Air Races.
