7:27 Wait how was his DI not on point? I thought that if you were launched horizontally the idea was to DI back in, which was the case! And if you’re launched vertically you have to Di towards the top corners..? D:
Such a hype set....with very uninformed and unhype commentators.... *Sigh* I know this game is young, but the characters we should at least know about are the ones we see all the time. Kuroganehammer exist for a reason people....
So here were commentary things that I found particularly interesting. 3:10 "Got the tech, but not the stong hit [of D-smash]" Wrong, there is no sweetspot on D-smash, only a hit one and a hit two, but he probably meant that it didn't send Nairo to the closer blastzone. 5:17 "I'm actually really surprised he managed to live that, especially at the edge of the stage" So this is kinda obscure, but he really should be surprised because pretty much every other character close to sheiks weight class would have died in that situation, but void used bouncing fish, Bouncing fish on frame 1 of activation cancels all current momentum to carry out the attack in the correct direction, Nairo also does this within the set to live a couple of close calls aswell. Not really their fault for not knowing.Happens again at 13:03 just for reference. 7:07 "If Nairo was a little further back, he could've caught the vanish with the D-smash" Again it was something that I managed to catch, but I could understand if someone else wouldn't have, if you look closely it was honestly just mis-timed, not mis-spaced. Completely forgivable though. 7:27 "DI wasn't on point, he was already holding forward from the forward air" Well 2 things, if he was holding forward from the F-air that was actually on point DI just sayin, and It only killed cause it was a fresh Sweetspot nair and Nairo was at 147 near the ledge on smashville.Again I guess the heat of the moment can make you miss these things. 12:08 "No tech animation out there" Don't honestly know if he knows or not, but sliding off a platform is un-techable.Again it's pretty obscure to know that. Completely forgivable. 14:29 "I gotta go up there and turn this song off" HOW DARE HE!!!SWAN LESSON IS actually yeah I don't like this song either lol. 15:59 "yeah didn't get the sweetspot" Ehh I'll be honest at first I didn't know ZSS bair had a sourspot (I'll hold that L), but Nairo did indeed get the Sweetspot if you look at the percents, this again was a classic case of BFMC (Bouncing Fish momentum Cancel)16:18 is good reference of Nairo using Flip jump kick to cancel momentum, he would've died had he not buffered it.(again at 16:26) 16:56 "Oh he didn't get the sweetspot up-tilt" ...Up-tilt doesn't have a sweetspot or sourspot, it just staled cause Nairo hit with it already.(I looked closely to see why it did so little damage, and Void jabbed the 1st hit, and was only hit by the second. Admittedly I was surprised it was so weak). 17:29 "No punish from void, but still staying safe" At first I thought it was a miss imputed f-tilt or something, but after rewatching and listening to the commentary I think he was baiting an up-tilt. Not really misinformation just some food for thought.
So honestly I did come off as a dick at first, not apologizing I know I'm an asshole lol, but I never meant for it to come off as an insult. There were things in the commentary that came off as un-informed snitbits. As for it being un-hype let me explain. Their synergy as commentator was really excellent actually, and I was actually taking note for when ever I ever feel like getting on commentary at my locals, but my main qualm was that they were saying very hype things in very mono-tone voices leading their commentary to be less impactful. Take a moment like 17:35 for example I could connect with the commentators, I could feel their hype with their expressive tone. Then take a moment like 8:00 the commentators were talking rapidly like they were getting hype because of how fast the match suddenly got, but it didn't really feel like they were actually invested from the tones they represeted. There were also a lot of really cool things that got missed and if you want me to highlight those aswell I could go do it I guess, but Missing a couple of moments, or talking over them is admittedly fine as long as it's not happening the whole set.
