This video features the drive between the town of Fairplay, Colorado and the city of Denver. We will be following US-285 on its journey out of the Rocky Mountains and into the Great Plains as it descends down into the Denver Metropolitan Area. We will pass over two mountain passes before following the North Fork of the South Platte River as we make our descent. We will also pass through the suburb of Lakewood as we approach the Denver city limits and end the video at the northern terminus of US-285 at I-25 just south of downtown Denver.

Love seeing the transition of US 285 from a rural 2 lane road going through the Rockies to a major roadway near it's terminus in Denver.

Memories abound! One of my weekly routes way back when I was haulin' for Brisk Transportation (to a few City Market stores). It was a blast, too! Almost like being on vacation that I got paid for!

Love these Colorado drives but please keep the captions on the screen a bit longer. Otherwise I enjoyed the scenery of a section of 285 I've never driven.

I remember when US-285 was mostly two lanes, with the two main exceptions being at Conifer and Aspen Park. Thanks for the ride! Very enjoyable. If you turn left at Como, you can go over Boreas pass to Breckenridge (an old railroad grade of the Denver, South Park and Pacific RR, one of the water towers still stands on the west side last I went over it in '96). And you can still see it's roadbed along the road over Kenosha Pass in your video.

Thanks for this video. Will be visiting Denver. From Denver we plan to go to Black Canyon Of The Gunnison, South Rim. Will be towing a travel trailer and wondering if 285 is a good route or would Hwy 25 to Hwy 50 be a better route? Would lie to take the easier route even if longer. Thanks for any advice.

Beautiful Drive on US 285 through the Rockies. Have you ever driven up the Mount Evans Scenic Byway or the Pikes Peak Road.? Colorado has so many beautiful routes besides I-70, Another great video Kyle!

Thanks for the triggered memories! My wife and I were on the stretch between Jefferson (town) and Denver, back in the late 80s. Just north of Jefferson is Jefferson Lake, a very scenic drive up to the lake and the area was beautiful. I went fishing (caught some trout) and we ate a picnic dinner there. I recommend the area for camping, picnics, and fishing. The road has been improved since we were on it - more beautiful and in some areas, smoother. I do remember some of the scenes along the drive, and it was enjoyable to see them again. One thing I didn't notice was at the pass - when we were there, there was a rest area/welcome center like structure. We went there in the middle of summer, and the pass was still quite cold and windy. (Jefferson Lake was comfortable, but got cold once the sun started down.)

I forgot to add - Jefferson is the little town you passed through right at 6 minutes in your video.

While still in Colorado in this series, this is still just east of the Continental Divide. I hope we'll see another video to cross the Divide next, but only time will tell.
@InterstateKyle
@InterstateKyle Год назад
I’ll have one video crossing the divide twice in one video coming in a few videos.

You do realize you already have videos of Denver filmed back in 2020. When you arrive in Denver in 2021, which routes did you take and how did you leave Denver at that time?

If it wasn't for potty humor I would be a fan of South park

Not to be a nerd but the actual elevation of Denver itself is 5,278 feet. there is a step on the capital steps that marks the 5,280 feet.
