Always Ready I was in I Troop at Pond Barracks 1974-1976. We rode thMe M551 Sheridans . At that time only M company had M60's back in those days. I had a blast in Amberg and the Border. I served for 16 in Europe. 12 in Italy. When I retired I had served for 22 years.

Toujours Prêt! I was also in I Troop at Pond Barracks. I was there 1978 - 1980. When I arrived we they had the M551 Sheridans. I never realized, until I saw your post, that they had M60s before the Sheridans. I was only on a Sheridan a short time before we switched to the M60A1RISE. I guess I hated it at the time, but now I wish I had re-uped and went for 20 years there. Thanks for the memories.

William, Wow. 71 year old here who spent 4 years in Pond barracks from 1971 to 1975. Your slide show brought back many memories. I came in as a slick 2nd Lt after Airborne and Ranger school but soon realized that I knew nothing. I was Platoon leader of 1st Platoon, I Troop. My Company Commander was Capt Downs. Great guy and ex helo pilot with Vietnam time I think. Your Graf and Hoenfels shots are priceless. Jeszzze, I remember freezing my balls off up there. As a driver and gunner you know what I am talking about. My gunner got my tank (M551 Sheridan) through TCQC with a great score. But what FUN was those LIVE fire exercises at night??? I still have not ever had my adrenaline pushed so high as those cold nights on live fire at Graf. Anyway, thanks for sharing your experience. You did well capturing some of your time there. I hope you are happy and well. Gordon Campbell, I Troop, 1st Platoon Leader.

The most common comments I hear from those who were at Graf and Hoenfels is about how cold it was. I was skinny with no fat to keep me warm, and I froze through two winters over there. When I got orders for Nam, the first thing I thought was "At least it will be warm." I had no idea how unbearably hot it was going to be. I went straight from the freezer to the frying pan. My name is Gary Stewart. I was a Sgt when I left Amberg in 68. Your slideshow brought back so many memories. I am 71 now and as I watched your slideshow I recognized so many of the guys. I had fun in Amberg and learned so much that I was able to take with me into civilian life. Thanks again Bill. It was really nice to see you and Bratland along with the other guys. Pray this finds you well. Stewart.

I remember you. I remember us drinking beer in the Camp Pitman dayroom with MIke Turner, Dennis Fountaine, Vito Pinelli, and others. I managed the dayroom one border tour. I also remember rail heading to Camp Rotz one night when you put some foul tasting chew tobacco in your mouth and there was no water on the train. It was great to hear from you. I have more pictures I'm sure you would enjoy seeing. I will post them on RU-vid soon. .Bill Miller
