Dre and we're talking about you while we were mowing Ethan!! Dre was like that boy is the best lawn mower ever and he did everything so fast and perfect every time - And he always had a smile on his face!! I was like, Yep - That sounds like Ethan mowing grass!! I was talking about you with my dad about a week ago. Sounds like you are crushing it at Givaudan!! I'm so happy for you Ethan.
@@LawnCrack thank you so much Ryan that truly means a lot to me coming from you! I mean that for real. Yeah I really enjoy the job a lot but I do miss the daily grind of cutting grass… I hope you let Dre know the only reason I knew how to cut grass perfect like that every time is because I worked with you the whole first season. And our boy Leo!! Miss ya Ryan would love to get together sometime!
According to the zoning inspector we can start at 7. Out of respect for the clients and their neighbors we try to start the first lawn around 8:15. The morning dew here is really heavy and wet grass makes a mess so that’s sometimes something we have to wait on. As far as bees, late August and early September we have to watch where we step. Ground bee nests open up in a day. A lesson we have all learned the hard way.
I can't believe that was the first time I'd every had multiple stings! I didn't know there were 'real rules' about when you can start! Thanks for the comment Chad!!
That is great!! Thanks for sharing. Little things like that go a long way. I put some empty trash cans back to where they go from the street...another example of something quick and easy.
My thoughts are do it. I only trimmed a handful of the lawns, basically I trimmed the push mows. Dre noticed I would trim them out most of the time and started to do it too. It was sweet to see him do that without me asking him too. My main goal was to do a pretty solid job for my buddy while he was out of town...much different than owning the business. Now I better understand employees lower quality of work...in most cases. They don't 'know' the customer and it's not their name on line. Pretty eye opening...I think one key to success with employees is to empower them and get the more involved in the business, not just the labor part.
@@LawnCrack One more quick question for you. Well first of all let me give you a shout out to great videos a lot of tips and tricks have helped me out a lot appreciate it. And now for the question is what was your way of hiring good help? Also I assume you interviewed him what was your basic questions in any tips and tricks on hiring good help?
@@dennyoverbey8798 I had a couple of good hires from interviewing people over the years. My best luck came from friends, family, and friends of friends. These people cared much more and I trusted them a easier with all my stuff and at my customers properties. Just got to make line 'work is work' line clear and let them go if they gotta go.
I think these may have been 'bumblebees...' I couldn't imagine getting stung by multiple yellow jackets! Apparently, Billy did get stung several times by them not long before I was at another house - needless to say, we skipped that house. We went to it and I asked Dre to show me where the underground nest was. It was in the middle of the backyard with 10's of yellow jackets swarming it before we even started...I was like, SKIP!!
That's for the tip Cherie! That's funny - my mom is retired and now makes soap for fun and her first little business venture. I bet she has a ton of Lavender Oil! 😀
