Must be nostalgia, but there's something very special about those old models. This video was like a mid 90s White Dwarf come to life. Excellent work all round.
I always struggle to concentrate on battle reports. They have a tendency of being kinda boring but yours are easy to follow and lots of fun to see. Great work!
Same here. These are the best battle reports out there! They’re the right length, they’re exciting, and they skip all the banter and get right to the action.
Being like, 3 v 5 units helps with clarity a lot I feel. Modern 40k is huge, and while I enjoy playing a big army, I get lost trying to follow 2 massive armies and what they are trying to do. Simpler is better!
If you are after enthusiastic battle reports bristling with narrative I’d suggest taking a look at Rogue Element Gaming, which focuses on 6th ed Fantasy but also dips into Necromunda. It too has an almost white dwarf golden era feel.
GW was already getting started in their tradition of loading up with special rules on top of special rules. At least this battle has no special characters.
@@Bagration421 I think early GW had an expectation that players would have gentlemen's agreements and make up the game they liked. One of my favourite passages in 1e WFRP is a rules section in Apocrypha Now about converting your RPG characters to battlefield models and back. And they outright state that the system taken literally can add rounding errors on rounding errors and should not be used as written.
This is the perfect battle report series. Short, exciting and ultra-retro! My only thought would be: for more campaigning, it might be really cool to see heroic characters and squads return in future missions with veteran skills, so we can follow their continuing journey across Armageddon!
This is so fantastic, well done. The filming, editing, voice work, models, terrain... Just increadble. I'm going to enjoy this while it's pure and before you blow up.
I am so glad you're covering Warhammer 40K 2nd edition. I personally feel that it was the best Edition, yes it maybe clunky compared to the newer additions, but I love the smaller scale and more personal level to the combat. I have never gotten rid of my second edition along with all of my supplements. Not only because they were the best games that I and my light Brother played, but they were the most enjoyable games I've ever played. Thank you so much for the Memories and keep up the good work. Cheers
Ok, first thing, I am an old timer, I started playing WK40K just before the release of the 2nd ED box set and I still prefer the 2nd ED to any of the following editions. Second, my sons got into playing WH40K in the middle of Covid as the world was all getting cabin fever. My youngest saw and asked about my boxes on the top shelf of the closet that absolutely no one was allowed to even look at let alone touch. Now as we play a game at least once a month and they are able to play games without me, my oldest came across your channel and told me about it. I as the old wise man, said yes, an excellent channel fulled with the grandeur that is WH40K! I rewatched this particular battle report with them and one of my sons in a joking matter that is so much a part of the game, as far as it was back in my day, he said and I quote..... "He should repaint those Blood Angels to make them Lamenters with their luck and all!" I could not stop myself from laughing. Thank you for going back in time to show the world how amazing 2nd edition was and still is, you have 4 fans in us, so long as you continue to do the Emperor's work.🤣👍
Excited for the next one. As someone who started playing in third edition I appreciate the more narrative style battle report. 2nd edition rules are slightly confusing to me
Man you really need to do more of these Minisode battle reports. Or at least produce more conduct. You have nearly 9000 subscribers from a handful of videos. And its because your content is really well done.
Love the story narration, and the bright 90s style Blood Angels. Especially as I played them in 2nd. (Yeah, I had 4 armies and 3 of them were Space Marines. These guys were some of my favorite, though. Especially veteran assault squads. I had half the veteran company plus support.)
I must say these Battlereports are the best I've seen this far on RU-vid. The editing, painting and landscape are marvellous! Keep it up guys, you're doing a great job. :)
Lovely looking armies, nice rich red Blood Angels armour and vintage Orks showing off how well they look with some TLC. Enjoyed this timewarp batrep and the sneaky peek at the end .. mmm more shiny toys, great!
Great game! Awesome looking forces! I'm hoping to see the Orks field a shokk attack gun or a Bubble-Chucka in the future. Also looking forward to seeing the custom Land Speeder screaming into battle.
Fantastic fun battle report, fills me with nostalgia for 2nd edition which remains my fave to this day.. Am I miss-remembering or have you now lost all 4 of the battles so far?
More 2nd Edition cinematic batreps? Amazing stuff! Seeing "the classics" alive and kicking again is such a buzz, especially when it's this well presented. 😊 This said, I'm afraid it does make my eye twitch to see the ruins at a diagonal angle to - and often intersecting - the roads on the gaming board. 😅 I appreciate this is probably for the sake of adhering to mission rules and ensuring fair play, but seeing a future batrep where the ruins "fit" the road layout would add to the immersion, and take this from a 9/10 to an easy 10/10!
I watch a lot of 40K 2nd ed content on RU-vid. Whilst I understand this is a small scale game, I must say I am very impressed with the way it is presented. Thank you very much for sharing and I hope to be able to watch more of your videos as a result :-)
Yeeeeessssss after all the waiting for another battle report finaly thannnkkkkssssss it made my day i hope you make a video where you paint those orks🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
What an amazing conclusion to the Armageddon series! Love the battle bunkers too they are brilliant. Looking forward to all the new models joining the armies too!
Awesome battle report! Just one minor gripe: the word "grâce" in "coup de grâce" is pronounced roughly as "grawss" (with a hard 'R'). No idea why anglophones don't pronounce the 'ce' part
The Space Marines have spent weeks "beating off" the Orkz? I didn't realize they shared that kind of relationship. The ruins look soooooo cool, and I'm really looking forward to the next instalment.
An amazing battle report, quick and punchy with a real back and forth. The marines put such a good fight up and really seemed to be blunting the Ork offence at the start, it could’ve gone either way and that’s great, nothing worse than a 1 sided battle report
I've now seen you guys repeatedly roll only a single shot for heavy bolter fire. In Second Edition, my recollection is that the heavy bolter rolled a single Sustained Fire die, so could end up with multiple shots (or a jam result).
