2nd Performance - YellowJackets - "Dynamite" By Taio Cruz - Sing Off - Series 3 

Soemthing that really gets me: all these people jumping on Jamal and saying he can't sing. Um, people? He's classically trained. He's attending the Music school at the college. He CAN sing. And if you're wondering about the first verse: can you not recognize that he is imitating an autotuned sound for effect? Sometimes that's harder than singing naturally; it takes more effort. So leave the poor guy alone, he knows what he's doing. It was just a choice they made, not a lack of skill or know-how.

i love these guys and jamal was pretty good, danny was awesome and aaron is not only adorable but i absolutely love his voice.

"Your pitch tolerance is wide": nicest way I've heard of saying, "you're going off key".

I know that they may not be THE best group in the competition. And this performance may not have been WAY awesome, but what makes this group so interesting and amazing is that they give it their all everytime, even though the vocals, tempo or whatever may not be completely perfect. Even so, they're one of my fav groups

What in the world is the descriptor saying?!? OF COURSE they are "trying to mimic Taio's singing...." That's what you do in the performing arts! Especially when your audience is millions of people who are looking for a great show. Fantastic job to the Yellow Jackets for doing as well as they did. Props to them all the way.

I LOVE Jamal's voice. I'm a sucker for baritones/basses, espacially if they have unique tones.

agreed with the judges on this-- had some technical issues, but it was still great fun. YJ continues to be the most fun group to watch. Loved the shimmying at the end :-)

@mrduckbear11 If the Yellowjackets want to mimic the original vocalist, then they should! Last year, Groove for Thought went home because they owned each song a little too much. They didn't mimic enough. The dissonance in Changes was just the straw that broke the camel's back.

@shortboypinoy He's affecting his voice at first... once he goes into his natural tone, he's got a really intersting, powerful baritone. (Just my opinion, every one's entitled to their own...)

@dancechica028 Well each group has their own interpertation on songs which is what makes it such an amazing show.

Liked this song WAY better than last week's, but a friend who heard these performances in person said they were way better in person.

@shareekah1 He is attending the Eastman School of Music which is consider to be in one of ten schools of music in the world, so I beg to differ.

That is hard to do, and keep it together. Hes a great vocalist, a lot of the stems from him being an opera major.

I have to disagree with you, mrduckbear11. Maybe Jamal tries to imitate Taio, but I think that Danny and Aaron have this crazy energy about them which is completely their own. While Ben said it lacked "stomp", I actually really enjoyed that they took a song which such a heavy beat, and made it a lot more musical, while maintaining a ton of energy and the rhythm.

Great choreography, great arrangement, inconsistent but usually decent tuning, but bad soloists.

the arrangement and backing vocals were impressive. But that lead.... I'm thinking the key was wrong for him. He usually sounds so much better but this was.... bad. Loved the choreo. Just... This following Urban Method's good performance does not make a lasting impression. YJs are much better than this.

There is such a thing as hamming up performances too much and the 2 muffins doing the funky chicken out front is damn near the most horrendous thing I've ever seen on this show.

This wasnt really their best performance.
