FYI: Originally Till pierced his cheek, to get the cable for the light through, it, for this glowing mouth effect(you can see that in the "Ich Tu Dir Weh" Music Video), but it got infected so he had to go with this version with the skin colored cable, which people recommended him doing from the beginning, but he insisted on piercing his cheek.

Fun Fact: The first part of verse 4 is a reference to the song "Geburt einer Nation" by Laibach which are often named as one of Rammsteins influences. The song "Geburt einer Nation" is actually a translation of Queen's "One Vision".
Granny King you pronounced Rammstein like a pro! I have seen Rammstein here in the states but the sets they use are not as extravagant as they are overseas. While they do have fanbase here, its nowhere near as large. I was supposed to see Rammstein this summer but was cancelled. But lucky you, they have rescheduled their tour for 2021 and now you will have to buy tickets!
The problem why the show by Rammstein is a "light" version compared to the show in Germany (full pyro) is that America has a lot of restrictions about fireworks and pyro. And this changes state to state. They could not play in Chicago with pyro in 2007(?) because of the city law

Stories about gigs getting cancelled in the US, the band almost giving up on the American market due to all those restrictions, stuff like that. A guy who has worked with Rammstein on their American tours in the past entered the chat and had this to say, and I quote: "The current stadium tour (when it happens) will be the exact same production that was overseas last year. Since touring in the United States again in 2010 all shows and concerts here have been exactly the same production scale and size. Nothing has been cut or changed except for the "Buck Dich" dildo spray, which is a very small, non pyro minor effect. All pyro you see is exactly the same everywhere. Nothing has been cut back or scaled down." I really really hope this dude is legit and you guys are getting the full package! Much love from Germany :)
Till (the singer) is dressed so theatrically in this video, but in real life he is apparently very shy and quiet. The band started using the pyrotechnics to take some of the attention away from him. I would love to see a Rammstein live show, it would certainly be an experience.
Yaay! Rammstein! Yaay! I never went to one of their concerts. But they had one approximately 700 meters from where I worked, back in 2010, and I remember the office windows trembling like crazy that day.
The metal genre is a total gold mine, but this band is the finest nugget in the whole lot. Metal is a global storm, but this band is the lightning bolt that strikes where it means the most. I love Rammstien.

EDIT: To answer your question: I saw Rammstein live in 2019 for the first time. Been trying to go to their shows for years, but I'm German and they sell out in like 2 minutes over here.^^ Long story short, it was pretty much the best thing I've EVER experienced. If you ever get the chance, GO SEE THEM!

I’m from West TN, but dragged my husband to NYC to see them play at Jones Beach theatre in June 2017. He thought I was crazy to plan a trip so far around a concert, but then he absolutely loved it! I adore this band ❤️🤘
If you want the real "Baby" effect with them, Look at some live stuff from 96 i think...but everything around those years. You will also see how much they grown as musicians, as a Band, as performers and most of all, how much Till has grown as a frontman. I think you will like to see where the journey started.
I've seen Rammstein live in Dortmund, Germany in 2009 and Live in Gelsenkirchen, Germany in 2019. Fantastic shows, Loud as fuck pyrotechnic and explosions, the flamethrowers etc. are HOT and it is always soooo much fun. My favorite song my them is Adios, It's about a drug addict who is doing / dying of an overdose.
I was at that concert, Madison Square Garden 2010. It was the greatest musical experience of my life. My husband and I traveled to New York from California to see them live.
My brother did see them on a metalfestival. He was not going to look at them becouse he diden´t like them. I told him you must you will not regret it. 20 minutes after the show ended he calld on the phine me and said that was the best live show he have ever seen. They are AMAZING live no other band can compare against them live.
I was at a Rammstein concert in 2011 in Johannesburg, South Africa, and it was the most epic experience of my life. You feel the heat of the fireworks and you are constantly jumping up and down. There is not one moment you are not entertained by these guys. Till is a big guy in real life and looks quite intimidating close up. They make their shows theatrical because not everyone understands German so they go all out to ensure fans enjoy the shows.
It took me about 25 years to come to grips with this band as I'm not really into industrial metal. but these guys know how to put up a show, how to make really intelligent songs and are all in all really hilarious.

One of the great things about Rammstein is that they're very aware most of their audience doesn't speak German; so they try to reflect that by making songs everyone can get into and by making things very theatrical. I hope you ladies keep revisiting these guys. Their live performances and videos are fantastic.

Its a piercing with a small LED light that makes light glow from his mouth. Seen rammstein live last year and it was like a party the whole show from start to finish was a treat for the ears and eyes. Love love love this band
first time they tried the light-coming-out-of-his-mouth trick the singer actually got his cheek pierced and stuck the little lightbulb through the hole so it'd be as authentic as possible :)
I am a German and I have been to Rammstein concerts. It is a truly surreal experience. The most memorable experience has been with the song “Sonne”. They played at a festival that had been plagued with heavy rainfall and had nearly been cancel. But they got the permission to play and “Sonne” was one of the last songs for the venue. You can see in the video you reacted to are two towers within the crowd, roughly 30 to 40 yards away from the stage. When the towers started to spew flames all the dampness from the ground and the crowd started to vaporise, the song came to an end and about 2 to 5 minutes later it started to rain for a bit even though the sky was clear. That moment hit hard when I realized that their own pyro show creates their own rain clouds.

I never realized Rammstein singer was older than me (I'm 55) - WOW - He is incredible and this band (that are new for me) are fast becoming one of my favourite ever groups.
I was at this show. December 10, 2010. I was 49 then (and 59 now). My seat was on the right side, overlooking the stage. Since I went by myself, I only bought one ticket. The folks next to me flew over from Germany for this show. The last time Rammstein played in the US had been in 2001, so it was kind of a big deal when they announced this show for 2010. The dvd of this show is fantastic; well, the show was fantastic. I highly recommend you watch their encore: “Engel” . It’s beautiful. I walked out from that show knowing I’d been part of something special. Then I saw them again the following May (at a different venue). “Engel” live from MSG, and “Feuer frei!”, official video from the Vin Deisel movie “xXx”. That’s pyrotechnics. (It’s also my favorite song to drive to. 💜💜💜
In German when there are two vowels next to each other, most often the pronunciation is based on the second vowel sound. So Rammlied is pronounced with a hard 'e' sound. That is why Rammstein is pronounced with a hard 'i'.
I took German classes for a couple years from a native German when I was in High School and I dont think she ever once mentioned that tendency of the language. Would have helped so much back then lol.

Awesome, love you girls. I was waiting for this reaction for so long. I was in 2016 in my first Rammstein concert in Switzerland, and I went with my husband, he as a German speaker don't like Rammstein at all, but anyway he was with me in that concert and at the end he said that the concert was the best of his life, he enjoyed so much the show and all the pyrotechnics, and that they play amazing in live concerts. I had tickets for their concert for this year in Switzerland as well but it was canceled so I must wait one year again.
I'm almost certain, the first time I heard Rammsten, was during the film Lost Highway. The song Rammstein plays during a very intense, trippy scene. I'd love to see the Grannies watch that scene.
Me too. There are a handful of bands who had such an impact I can clearly remember the moment I 1st heard them. Rammstein in Lost Highway is one of them. So glad Trent Reznor introduced them to David Lynch!

Rammstein in one the bands I respect the most... The band that introduced me to the german language (in which I felt in love with) and to study the german culture and history... I strongly suggest you to watch their videoclip "Deutschland". Its by far the best produced videoclip I have ever watched.. It resumes almost 2000 years of german culture and history in nearly 9 to 10 minutes.. sometimes criticizing and passing through some real heavy moments of german history..
One of my favourits Songs Frühling In Paris and Rammlied is very nice. I was last year on my first Rammstein concert ever it was the 05.27.2019 in Gelsenkirchen Germany. The date of the concert was 17 birthday i was so happy on this. Rammstein is my love.

In this particular video, the led light in his mouth is the same type of light my Vet uses on my horses when she’s doing dental work. Watching this, I was waiting for a Vet to appear with grinding tools. That might be in the next show!
I’ve been to two of their shows. First one in Worcester, MA and the second in Las Vegas. I was in the pit right on the guardrail for both shows. If you ever get the chance to attend I highly recommend it. The whole band’s stage presence is awesome and the pyro is phenomenal!!!

I was at this show, definitely one of the best shows I have ever seen, if not THE best. Felt like my eyebrows were gonna singe. It was VERY HOT in the front, and absolutely worth the trip from Portland Oregon, waiting outside almost the whole day even as it started to SNOW on us for the last couple hours before the doors opened. Best birthday ever.
I went to 4 Rammstein tours so far; the 5th time for me is postponed until Covid is gone. They have an incredible show! Lots, and I do mean LOTS of pyrotechnics, and always an amazing stage. Utterly recommended!
They sold this MSG show in 20 mins. There were 18.000 people and they recorded a DVD from that show. I'm from Europe, Latvia. I had visited Rammstein shows 3 times. 1st time was in 2016 Poland, 2nd in Estonia 2017, and 3rd concert was in Latvia 2019. Firstable them have really good sound technic. Concert is very loud, with very good basses + they use pyro.. when they use fire, you can feel it so good, because in arena gets so hot. And I have met them in Meet&Greet festival. They are one of the sucessful bands ever. All they shows are sold out in minutes. You need to see them for sure!
The glow out of his mouth comes from a lamp which was put in his mouth before the concert. There is a cable which is going through his cheek. Because the singer Till Lindemann insisted that the cable of the lamp cannot be seen, he had a hole made in his cheek for the cable
Till Lindemann actually has his cheek pierced and used to put a cable through the hole with a little LED at the end, but the little hole annoyed him in his day to day life, so he now uses the method seen on sceen. I saw them live on their latest tour opening night and it really was a blast!
I saw Rammstein in Indiana in 2001 (I lived near Chicago but they refused to play in Chicago at that time because some city official was blocking them doing pyrotechnics in their shows, is what I heard). This song didn't exist yet, but the show was awesome, one of the best I've ever seen.
I was at one of their European Stadium Tour concerts in Germany a few weeks ago. They are now even better than before. BEST CONCERT EVER. They are soooooo good. It's an experience of a lifetime! We were over 50.000 people. The stadium was built by them for them solely. Ridiculously good. By the way: I love your reactions to them :)
Incidentally, Rammstein is a US military base in Germany and many years ago there was a big accident during an air show where many people died. The band named themselves after this base
Hello grannies. Rammstein is my favorite band. I have known them since 1998. I have been to all the concerts they have done in Spain. And I have also seen them in France, Germany and the Czech Republic. They have participated in soundtracks of films such as Triple X, The Matrix or David Lynch's Lost Highway. I think that two songs that would impact you and more if you knew the story and lyrics, are Mein Teil and Puppe. Both with a lot of pyrotechnics. Thanks for your authenticity. I've seen Rammstein 14 times since 2005, two of which were rehearsal shows that I won a ticket for in Berlin. I am one of only a handful of people to have seen Mein Land live. I have 4 more shows for 2021 rescheduled from this year for obvious reasons! I've seen them in the UK, Germany, France and the Czech Republic.

I have been to two concerts. It's the best show I've ever been to. Music is great and the crowd is pretty wild. I was in the front row - 1 or 2 people away from stage. This is where you really feel the fire, as the columns of flame shoot above you and back. I think I felt I lost a little bit eyebrows, and it's gotten quite hot. But they thought of it too, since by the end of the show they covered us in foam and confetti. Very energetic, very loud, very melodic. Thanks for your song/video reviews. Good stuff!
