Thank you for the entire series of vidoes. These are really detailed and practical how-tos. While I am trying to transfer a file from an External FTP or Import File from the External FTP, I am getting errors - without details. I suppose there is a firewall on the External FTP - which IP should I whitelist in order to establish connection from SFMC to the External FTP?

@@GayathriJayarajV import activity is different from file transfer - so please ensure you follow the correct steps - if the file mapping or even the data you are importing has any issues with respect to the field mappings / data types u specified, it can cause issues - like invalid characters or if u have null in a required field. You may want to try importing the csv file directly into the DE first manually from the UI and see if there is any errors.
Hello, I have a question, what if the folder where the file transfer need to identify for the file location is a dynamic folder and the name changes based on the date, will the file transfer and import activities still be able to perform?
If you mean to a folder in Enhanced FTP then yes - use the File Transfer activity with outbound option - Send file frm Safehouse to FTP. Ensure you provide the correct filename that you expect to get after decryption. But keep in mind this exposes your encrypted data on FTP folder.
@@sfmctrailblazers I need to move a clear CSV file from an External FTP to the SFMC Enhanced FTP and keep the External FTP empty until the next drop. Does it mean that I could use: File Transfer from External FTP + File Transfer from Safehouse to Enhanced FTP + File Import to import data to DE?
For Schedule automations, if you use File Transfer activity, you only have the option to specify the Filename pattern in the File Transfer Activity - and this doesn't use Begins with type matching - as you can see in the video, you can provide exact string along with any wildcard specifiers or substitution strings.

Its in Setup - Data Management - u need to have admin access to set up the FTP logins. Then u can use any ftp client to connect to the ftp url provided in setup - and use the credentials.
For the inbound flow - Manage file option - yes the file will be placed in Safehouse. Do note that for new Sfmc orgs sometimes the Safehouse may not have been enabled. You will need to raise a support case to have this enabled for the first time.
