The larger airspace will be ok..I think a rear facing slotted port to specs. Would work better than the large open port..it would provide increased back pressure to keep the EVL's from bottoming...but damn it's flexing really good..good voltage..so this setup is very close to being a hit!!!!!!!
I wonder what frequency that 144 was at... Three 10s at .67 on a 4500 and only doing a 144? Lots of room for improvement. For comparison, my two 12s on 1k in a STOCK Accord are doing a 143 dash and 144.5 kick
@@jimjones3287 SPL orientation depends on car. I'm running sub back port drivers side (143 on 1k). Another guy I know said sub up port forward was best in his Civic (155 on 4k). Another guy I know has sub and port forward in a camry trunk wall (153 on 15k). There's a guy I see at shows occasionally running sub up (8x15s) port back (3x12 aeros) in a Suburban doing 166+ on 105k
@@thelifeofriley815 Yes and that's why subs up AND port up in a small no wall trunk is terrible for SPL because front and back waves are smashing into the top of that small trunk.
I am doing 145.1 off two 10" CT Sounds Strato's off 1000 RMS MB Quart old school amp. Box is subs up, port back though. I am only giving my subs half their RMS to boot. This dude needs a box with port back or face forward. Sweet looking build, just don't seem optimal. This thing should be pushing 150 with correct box and electrical.
Nice Skar build. Like the finish on box. Kinda sounded like speakers were bottoming out??🤔 Just wondering why not face the woofers forward into cab and port to side or back? Nice.
Smaller cars like sub up sometimes. I'm going to build some cheap boxes and do testing over the winter to see what the best orientation is for my car. Talked to a guy at the last show that did something similar and he said sub up port forward was loudest in his civic. Said he did a 155 on 4k.
More efficient subs, prefer larger enclosures, where as less efficient drivers prefer smaller enclosures. The EVL series drivers, aren't very efficient drivers at all. They have lower BL as opposed to the ddx and others. There is only so much you can do with those subwoofers. They weren't a good design from the start.
@@Trucker-Belly possibly some of their drivers, yes. I would have to run DATS to get the actual tsp's of the drivers, to know what it kinda calls for, then graph it out. If you have higher efficiency drivers, they typically always prefer larger enclosures. If you do not have as much space to work with, you want to find a lesser efficient driver. Vas(from the tsp's)can give you an idea, of what the driver will like. I'm sorry about not being too familiar, with alot of JL subwoofers. I haven't really ran them since the mid to late 90's with the exception of a 13w series,a guy gave me on trade to do some recones, and it needed refoamed. If I remember correctly, it took a little larger enclosure, but that was a few years ago.
I also have 3 10 inch ddx each on its own rp1200.1 h.o alternator 250 amp ,5 energie pr 1200 agm batteries,1/0 awg wire whole car.i have the skar enclosure for 3 10's its tuned to 38 hz.problem is I feel like the box isn't big enough for my subs.any suggestions on a box for a 2014 accord sedan for 3 ddx 10's?any suggestions or ideas appreciated
That's crazy to find this comment of yours. I just did an enclosure for a 2013, it was 3 Skar DDX 10's and the enclosure was subs up, and aero port back. Was 4.15 cubes net, after sub displacement and bracing. Tuned it, to 28hz and it does very well musically. The ddx subs are a better choice over the EVL series, all day long. They may be only 2.5" coils, but have bigger motors versus the EVL, they have higher BL and just all around better tsp's. Hope your build pays off for you brother! I know he was very happy with his. He runs the Smart 3k with it, and was pretty decent power.
@@johnnycorn7225 yea ive always like sealed builds im thinking about doing four fifteens or six twelves sealed ive got eight eighteens right now sixth ive had fourth orders everything but a big sealed build i want one more for regular music ya know gets old listening to decaf music all the time I like metal and some old school pop ya know
@@iblameshanemane9204 man we are cut from the same cloth!! I'm 47 and have had a ton of builds and you can look up on my comments that I have repeatedly said I can't resist the temptation to run 415 or 6:12 sealed in my new SUV!! I listen to everything and I'm a musician so sealed is what I want
@@johnnycorn7225 yea im thinking its what im doing this time I love big bass and all but my build right now sounds sloppy as all get out on fast rebound bass like say some protest the hero or dream theater is just im not happy with it anymore honestly and I want something I can slide out these built in walls man im getting tired of cutting them out when I want to try something diffrent that and im gonna be going for cheaper subs that arent just low end subs that or recone mine with some spl surrounds and steel coils idk yet tbh lok
@@johnnycorn7225 been thinking about trying six twelve inch skar ddx's out theyre so cheap figure if I dont like them it wont be to much of a loss and keep it around a six or seven k build as far as amp power maybe eight thousand Watts try to go for efficiency and accoustic's more of a old school build loud and tight in a small car lol
@@bassanonymous4923 I agree 100%. U do it for a friend or family member, they show it off, then everyone wants a “favor”. I hate saying no and charging normal prices for anything I do, so I end up mad at myself and eventually hating the whole process.
"Big as I can than fine tune it".....No No no, that is not a good formula, there is a such thing as having a box that's too big, as the case with this one. Too big of a port is a thing too, the bigger the diameter the longer the length has to be. A 8 inch port will have to be very long, that box is acting like an infinite baffle because of the box and port size, them subs aren't gonna last long. The box and port needs to have enough back pressure to keep the sub in control, without it it's just like putting the subs in the trunk without box and playing them. If you stay within the recommended specs of the woofer or a little bigger you'll be just fine.
So stupid!!! One car length away all you hear is bass you wouldn’t even know the song or artist! It’s like going to a concert and only the band is there but no lead singer so lame!!
