This is a very nice lift kit. When I bought it, I don't remember seeing very many things about this kit. I hope this helps guide your decision on your Jeep's lift kit. I made an incorrect note about the shocks. The SX6000 is hydraulic only (will not return to height by itself) and gives a softer ride at the expense of fading when overworked. The SX8000 is nitrogen charged (will return to height by itself) and gives a slightly harsher ride. For an off roader, the SX8000 charged would perform better than the SX6000. For a strictly on road/ light off road, SX6000 would ride a little better.
As for the ride quality, it is very nice. Springs are much stiffer than the 235000 mile stock springs that came off, but it rides and handles quite well. I am very satisfied with the kit

Nice old ZJ you have there man. I really like ZJs especially the early ones 93,94,95 obd 1 . I have the twin older brother to yours, mine is a 95,. Except mine was a factory rear wheel drive and I converted it to a four wheel drive with a 242j transfer case. I too have installed a 3-1/2" suspension lift on mine,. But I did just by a kit , I put together what I believe to the best parts for my budget and the intended use that I am going to use it for. I have Rough Country lower control arms, Core 4x4 upper adjustable control arms, and I went with Rubicon Express front coil springs, And I swapped the front springs to the rear because they were in excellent condition and just needed a coat of paint. I'm running the stock track bar in the rear, but I went with the Rough Country 3-1/2" drop bracket for that because I like that it doesn't cause any kind of rear axle clearance issue do to the fact that it bolts to the frame and not the axle, and it you don't have to drill and holes or anything to install it. I made my own bump stops from some parts that I bought from Energy Suspension,. And I also made my own rear sway bar links from some grade 10.9 bolts. My shocks are Bilstein 4600 at all four corners. For the front Track bar I went with a Rusty's off Road adjustable bar because steering stability is very important,. The front axle I used is one That that I found on Market place from a 2003 TJ wrangler. That was in good condition,. But before I installed it I replaced all the seals , gaskets and oil,. And I replaced the ball joints, and also the lower control arm brackets with a pair of Barnes Four wheel drive brackets, I highly recommend those over using the stock one's. I also installed a reinforcement bracket plate for my track bar mount on the front axle , because I don't want the original hole to elongate or crack like they often do on lifted jeeps. My only regret so far is that I went with Rough Country front sway bar end links, because they are made pretty cheap, especially the bushing sleeves. But I plan to replace them in the future with a better set , or built my own. I know this is a lot to read, but you seem to be a Guy who likes ZJs such as myself so I hope you don't mind. Maybe some of this jibber jabber will help you out or give you some future ideas for building your own ZJ. Thank you for your videos. Tim from Wisconsin.

You know, I never could understand why jeep ever put out 2wd XJs/ZJs/WJs... But thanks for sharing, sounds like you got a fun one. I do wish I went for more adjustable parts in the front between the trac bar and control arms. Dealing with some less than ideal steering right now even after getting it aligned at a real shop. Haven't touched the jeep much after lifting it, but it's next in line to be back in my shop to figure out the transmission leak and do interior work and all that.

@@cammedup3078 That is pretty common when you install a suspension lift,. You are probably not going to be able to run with the factory caster adjustment on the lower control arms. If you can set it up with 5 to 7 degrees positive caster adjustment would probably be about a setting. And then if you still need further adjustment you should probably go with some adjustable upper control arms to help dial it in. Considering all the original parts are about 29 years old, you may want to consider replacing the bushings for the upper control arm mounts on your front axle and maybe the ball joints also. I replaced all of them on mine, I went with Moog bushings, and I also welded on a reinforcement plate on the passenger side upper m

Added a plate for the upper passenger side mount, I made one, but you can buy them from Barnes Four wheel drive or some other places. My biggest issue in the beginning was drive line vibration,. And adding a transfer case drop only seemed to make it worse,. I tried one of those washer plate kits from Zone off-road for the rear, where you slot the upper rear bracket bolt holes,. Do Not Ever Use Those! That is what I went with because I bought the upper adjustable control arms from Core 4x4 . So I ended up having to weld up the bolt holes and repair them.. In your video it kinda looks like you have some camber issues with your ball joints,. Like I said it just looked like it in the video. But if you are having steering issues, and your jeep has a lot of miles on the original parts,. It would probably be best to inspect everything very well and replace anything that is worn out or that looks suspect for wear , with some good quality parts. If you have any questions, or even any ideas you can just send me a message if you want. I am a bit of a old timer and have been working on stuff for forty years, maybe I can help,. I don't claim to know everything but I don't know mind sharing what I do know or trying to help someone else out if I can.

@@tsmith578 I do intend on giving it a whole look over once I get it pulled in my shop. I'll check the whole steering system for slop and wear. But thank you - I always appreciate any insight and those willing to share

I got a 97 Jeep grand Cherokee 4.0 6 cylinder 4x4 with a 242 transfer case.. Excellent running Jeep very clean but down side I bought it for 1800 and it has no front drive shaft so I need the transfer link kit and a front drive shaft to hopefully get it working. It’s in 2wd at the moment.. I bought new headlight assembly and spark plugs and wires and distributor cap and 6 fuel injectors tore out after market wires that was poorly installed and got a Sony stereo and Sony speakers.. had to replace all window regulators because only one window rolled down. It dropped oil pressure at idle but not when accelerating but since I did a complete oil change and fuel injectors it stays normal at idle and acceleration. Strong running Jeep the engine is actually quiet and smooth the transmission switches gear amazing and no wheel wobble I can drive 85 mph with no problem. The a/c and heat work.. I did a lot over the last 2 weeks now about to get this lift kit that your installing and maybe 31 inch tires. I put the flowmaster super 10 on it as well.. I love my Jeep. Thanks for sharing this video looking forward to doing what you are doing in this video.. 🤘🏼

I've got a 1998. I skip through the video to see what size tires you put on it so to get an idea what size to put on mine.

Don't know why you didn't mention what size tires you originally had on it, as well as what size the new tires are? I've got a '93 ZJ - same color as yours, with the same factory wheels. Went from a 235/75R15 up to a 31x10.50R15. - Still riding on the stock suspension. The only thing I had to do was to slightly trim the front bumper plastic. They rub on the lower control arm at full turn - I just have yet to readjust the steering stops. Thanks for sharing this content.

The old tires were stock 235/75R15, just like yours. My bad if I forgot to mention the new size - they're 31x10.50R15 as well. With the lift they clear lock to lock with no trimming or rubbing

@@cammedup3078 Appreciated the reply. Forgot to also add that when I watched this yesterday, I think you mentioned something in the video about "tryin' ta keep a classy look". - - I have felt the same way about 'my' ZJ since I bought it - and cringe sometimes when I see people hacking TF out of their front fenders and rear quarter-panels to make clearance for oversized tires. - - It may sound silly to most, but I actually like the look of the wide plastic trim at the bottom of the doors. Not sure if your channel has vehicles that you own and plan to keep, or you simply buy vehicles to flip them, or...? In any case, I subscribed to your channel yesterday - mostly in the hopes that you'll have future content about your ZJ. There are SO many different lifts available, that I just don't know what's my best option for the least amount of money and to be truthful - I highly doubt if I'll ever actually 'need' a suspension lift, because I don't want to take the chance of trashing my classic ZJ on the side of a boulder or tree somewhere, because I'm sentimental about this one. - - It was purchased from my in-laws, who have had it since it was new off the lot. Any@#$%^ - I'm babbling. Thanks again for the reply.

@@dawabbitt3079 Most of what I feature on my channel are flip vehicles. The WRX is the only vehicle I have videos of that I plan on keeping forever. I also have a rust bucket Cherokee that I have all cut up and rigged out that I'll probably keep for a while until its value shrinks to nothing

@@MidnightPolaris800 I wouldn't say garbage, but I will agree that they're money pits. The plan is to gradually modify it until she blows then drop a new short block in and carry on with the mods until I'm happy (probably not possible...). Certainly helps to have multiple vehicles for backups. At least mine doesn't have an EJ plant, like donut media comedically tried to make work
