Hey guys, Chop here! Delving into another 3.6 Genshin Impact lore theory, I decided to look at the symbol that is found on the door to Khaenri'ah. This video explores a lot about their history and nation, with some fairly major guesses that ultimately connect back to fate. What connection does Khaenri'ah have with fate? How is Khaenri'ah a rune? All of these questions and more are answered during this video. Chop out, bye!

Here are a couple of the theory videos I did that will help in understanding this video:

"[3.5] Who Controls Fate in Teyvat? | Genshin Impact Theory": • [3.5] Who Controls Fat...

Baizhu wishes to keep giving life force to patients but also wishes to keep living a long life, his combat kit actually looks like he steals life force from enemies.

The achievement after reaching there is called: *"ye who enter here, abandon all hope"* This line is from a 3 volume poem called "dante's divine Comedy".in that he explains that he found a gate to hell and explores all 9 layers of hell.

On the upside down tree thing. It always seems inconsistent. For example if the tree is upside down then the roots are not underground where Khaenri'ah is but instead up in the sky, or at least on the regular land surface. Therefore if the tree is upside down then the city/country founded on the roots of that tree should either be in the sky or on the surface but that's a fail for matching Khaenri'ah.
@SenseiChop
@SenseiChop Год назад
Well the roots I suppose could still be underground, but they're higher up underground than the rest of the tree. So I do still think it's possible! Although I've heard theories about the roots or branches of Irminsul being the fake stars, which wouldn't be the craziest thing, it just seems conflicting with it being upside down as well like you say. I'm not sure if Khaenri'ah is upside down, to be honest, I just think there's good evidence but like you say it does conflict with logic somewhat.

The symbol of Khaenri'ah is simpler. It's not the symbol of Khaenri'ah but the symbol of the last dynasty - namely the Eclipse. It's an eclipse symbol (or "black star" in Chinese). It has a central circle and 8 points coming from it. You can see it in Hilichurl camps sometimes. An eight pointed star is obviously also used commonly in other places most obviously by the Adventurers' Guild which is symbolized by the compass. Compass symbolism often doesn't have the central circle but often does have an outer circle around the radial points. In general the symbolism of the game isn't too exact though. The same symbol doesn't always look the exact same in each case. Even the Knights of Favonious symbols are often a little varied from each other and that's probably the best example of a symbol or icon that is often exactly duplicated down to the tiniest detail. The 8 pointed star in the Hexenzirkel doesn't feel like an eclipse but is more compassy but I don't think it's meant to be either one. Because of the second asymmetric star behind it and the rotations and bramble symbolism. Fate is connected with the pre-Abyss order Lector and the Sinner.
@SenseiChop
@SenseiChop Год назад
Is it the Eclipse Dynasty symbol? Dainsleif is part of that and he doesn't have the symbol anywhere on him, but it is on the door Khaenri'ah and on Abyssal monsters, which led me to believe it's the Khaenri'ah symbol more than for the Eclipse Dynasty. I don't think the Adventurer's Guild has the eight-pointed star, does it? I didn't know about the compass symbol they have, though, so thank you for letting me know about that! You're definitely right about the symbols not usually meaning much, I mean isn't Kaeya's vision smaller than the other visions or something even? xD It doesn't seem greatly consistent, although I do think it's interesting that we keep seeing the symbol with Khaenri'ah and fate, though, and the connections that nation can have with runes. It definitely seems like it could be some runic magic, hence the witches also have it :D

this is a pretty interesting take i knew the moment i saw the title you'll say that it represents fate which in itself it is true, the 8 pointed star symbol has been used so far 3 times in MiHoyo's games in Honkai impact 3rd, Honkai star rail and Genshin and in each of them , this symbol is related to destiny/fate/ time and all of this words are connected to each others, you probably never played the other hoyo games but i wanna give my opinion regarding this topic in hi3 , it represents time, this power is called "the Finality" which symbolised by an 8 Pointed star , this power keeps reseting time and recycling cvilisations all over again until they reach the right outcome which in itself, changing destiny over and over again in star rail , we know that there are aeons , higher dimensional beings that have power over "paths", these path are like phylophical concepts, "destruction , beauty , hunt , abunadance , nihility etc..) and again , each has their own symbol, then there the Aeon of Finality and it's symbol is again 8 pointed star, the Aeon was said to be surfing the universe while moving "backward in time" while murmuring a prophecy that is yet to happen, again, this is related to fate and destiny in Genshin now, we know that teyvat could be in a constant state of "timeloop" from various hints and that changing destiny is one of the core themes of genshin , we know that , there's a god of "time" called istaroth, and if you search for the name ishtar, she's a goddess who's symbol is either 6 pointed star or 8 pointed one , and istaroth was present in khaenri'ah and the DAY the cataclysm happened, and MONA believes that "changing fate" is impossible
@SenseiChop
@SenseiChop Год назад
Well your assumption on me not playing the other games is certainly true, so I always appreciate help in these details that cross over, thank you very much! I have actually started playing Star Rail recently, just because when they threw words around like Aeon which I had already read about so much for researching Gnosticism, I just had to see how they used the terms here. I've not seen anything about an Aeon of Finality yet though so I'll have to keep my eyes peeled. It seems the other two definitely have a timeloop theme going on though, which I think Genshin will break thanks to the Traveler. Is it broken in Honkai Impact 3rd at all or no?

As for things living by biting on the roots of Irminsul trees Albedo says there's a species of spider that do so. At the time I thought that was a nod to the Nithog myth. But in general I don't think any out of game lore ever carries over into the game, except to be a source of names. For example while gods names come from Ars Goetia the characteristics of the corresponding demons have no relation with the game lore and have no predictive power.
@SenseiChop
@SenseiChop Год назад
I mostly agree that it's mainly used for naming schemes, although they have based the main points of stories on stories from the real world. And the Ars Goetia names do tend to have some basic connection to their Genshin counterpart! Like Guoba's Goetic devil breathing fire, for example. Or Paimon having a loud voice. It's not a deep connection and I never think it's much, but I do think that they tend to name certain things because of a basic connection, like perhaps nibbling on the roots of Irminsul (it could just be that they're a dragon but that's why this is a theory I suppose haha)!

@Sakuyamon Год назад
I just wanted to make an addition to what you were saying about vikings and the compass. Naturally, compasses werent yet invented, and Vikings used the stars to navigate, buuuut! They did have something that acted like a navigational aid! There are texts that mention what is called a "sunstone". And what is a "sun", but a star? Its also quite interesting that Deshret is illustrated as a star/sun, and it ends up looking both as the Khaenriahn star and the sign of Apoasha!
@SenseiChop
@SenseiChop Год назад
Ah yes I've read about this also! I think it's called the 'azosite' or that may be another stone they used, but it's very similar to the energy source the Khaenri'ahns used before the abyssal energy. It's a very good point you bring up :)
@Sakuyamon
@Sakuyamon Год назад
@@SenseiChop uh um no? Azosite is the energy fuel rocks in game. The sunstone was thought to be normal Cordierite or Island Spar. Although, its possible that the sunstone inspired the Azosite. But the sunstone wasnt an energy source. If it was a Island spar, then it would have been a see through crystal that would polarize the light while the sun had set or was obscured by clouds and thus orient themselves.
@Sakuyamon
@Sakuyamon Год назад
@@SenseiChop Oh by the way, I just remembered something... Azocite actually sound partially like Azoth, an alchemical component thought to be essential to alchemy. And it is actually already in the game. We actually use Dust of Azoth to transform stuff. They may be linked.
@SenseiChop
@SenseiChop Год назад
@@Sakuyamon Ah yeah seems it's a different thing nvm xD quite interesting that they use stars for navigation and the symbol seems to be connected to fate which is also represented by stars!
@Sakuyamon
@Sakuyamon Год назад
@@SenseiChop yea... maybe people started believing your fate was written in the stars because they navigated with the stars... if you couldnt read the sky, you would be doomed for sure... ah! I just remebered something! Long ago, I heard someone say that pirates used to use fortune tellers to tell their fate and how the should chart courses and plunder and such. I cant quite remember if they said they would read the stars for them... but its an interesting correspondence! Vikings were close to pirates (and a certain someone claim his grandfather was a pirate) and fortune tellers are close to astrologists, both are pretty prominent in genshin...might be worth looking in on that!

Good theory and awesome observations, but I disagree that the 8-pointed star is a rune. As pointed out (pun not intended) in the video, Odin (or Genshin's sinner) learned about Runes (which are pretty much called Khemia in old hebrew script ... also known as Talismans or Sigils) while hanging upside down on the tree of life (Yggdrasil / Irminsul... where the last also corresponds to physical "pillars of the world" worshipped in "pagan" rituals in the old Germanic world - Charles Magnus burned that stuff down)... ... BUT said Runes are the letters seen in Abyss mages and Lecters' spells, written with a certain "script" also used to write the "true names of angels" and the such in IRL "Alchemy". The 8-pointed star doesn't correspond to any Rune: it may be a symbol for something norse or viking or mesopotamian... but not a Rune, I don't think so.
@SenseiChop
@SenseiChop Год назад
Oh no I don’t mean that an eight-pointed star is a real-life Nordic rune, it’s not from the Futhark alphabet at all, at least. I think this is just Genshin deciding that it’s a rune, sigil, some symbol imbued with magic in whatever way.

@SenseiChop
@SenseiChop Год назад
Oh yeah 100% it's not 1:1. Not everything I say is about Genshin, it's more so establishing the myth and their culture, then how that could potentially relate to Genshin and the implications of that. So for example I talk about Níðhöggr nibbling on the roots of Yggdrasil, but in Genshin it's probably just that Nibelung is in or around Khaenri'ah/the Abyss. They usually use it as a very basic starting point and branch out from there.
