I came ready for the phelia decks but anticipated a lot more boseiju. I didn’t anticipate so many people responding to phelia decks with path so I got rocked by that

I was also shocked not to see more Boseiju. I think the Mox + Inkmoth + Boseiju deck is legitimately very good and I never would have guessed that only a single player would have submitted it.

The deck seems like it would lose to both the knight deck and the cenn answer to the knight deck though

Boseiju I feel like is tricky to use because it means your removal is also your mana source. You’d need another card that benefits somewhat from one extra green mana but still works without, as well as the ability to separately produce 2 mana for the ability.

I kindly request that these videos include more demo games. It's not always obvious why one strategy beats another. How does Path + Hexdrinker beat Path + Ocelot and Path + Cenn's? How is every game between any of these decks not a stalemate every single game, regardless of who goes first?

He says "edge out" not beat, so I think he means that it just did better against the other decks in the pod rather than a 1 to 1 win

These decks all tie against each other, but Hexdrinker performed marginally better against the other decks in the pod compare to Ocelot or Cenn's.

10:03 it's worth nothing that this 70% was in a low pod. It was also submitted in Exemplar (though with Mutavault instead of Inkmoth Nexus) and scored 29%. I think this shows that Boseiju can do something when people aren't prepared, but that a lot of people had it on their minds this month. I know I at least mainly ended up on Cenn's/Path (before changing to the deck I won with) because it beat both Phelia AND Boseiju. If Boseiju hadn't been as big a target as it was, I think Hexdrinker/Path/UDP would've been more popular.

Have you considered doing a video that shows "gameplay". Well, the equivalent of gameplay for 3cb. Like choosing a few interesting match-ups each month and talking through the games.

Is it really necessary to hold banvotes every month? Especially when a meta seems to be healthy, there are already counters showcased for the most popular deck and the winner overall was so unique. Seeing how the meta changes without bans would be really interesting to me . TBC I don’t take part in the actual playing, I am just watching it from afar, so maybe there is a clear sentiment about this with more involved people that I don’t know about (or maybe they just chose to not vote for any of the bans and we get a repeat month that way), I am just curious about the reasoning behind suggesting bans even when arguably not necessary.

We will always have a vote because not every person in the community has the same opinions about what constitutes a healthy meta. It is also worth noting that "no bans" is a valid outcome for the monthly ban vote, but it has not happened yet. I think that the majority of folks who play in the main event share the opinion that progressive change (through bans / unbans / and new releases) keeps the format interesting and increases the number of new strategies we see on a month by month basis. All that being said, relative to other months, I think a "no bans" outcome to the vote here would be totally fine.

The fact that it failed to be banned in the last vote combined with the fact that it had a 51% winrate compared to White Orchid Phantom's 56% winrate led to the decision to include White Orchid Phantom in the vote rather than Phelia. If Phelia's performance improves substantially, we may vote on it again, but only in exceptional cases will we vote on a card that has a 51% average score.
