Robert is no joke. I often felt very skeptical of things like haunted objects until I went to the place where Robert is kept with a couple of my friends. When I saw that doll I almost immediately felt ill and didn't want to get any closer to it. My friends made fun of me but I just couldn't get within 3 feet of it. I had a headache until we left the building
I think that Robert is the most terrifying, haunting and dangerous doll of all of the dolls that I have heard of. I can’t imagine anyone wanting to keep or allow Robert in the presence in the homes of humans, yet alone small children. 😱😱😱
I know Robert and I have the same name, but I have, regardless, always had a respect for him. I think it's because my intuition has always had me believe he is, in fact, real. A real spirit and thus deserving of respect. And his history supports it. I don't get as strong of an impression from other dolls. And he's definitely my favorite of them.

I have a little side gig restoring vintage and antique dolls. Given what I've found in some that I've disassembled for cleaning and repair, it sounds like Ruby is infested with black mould. That doesn't answer why she cruises around the house when no one is looking but that would easily explain why people get that set of symptoms when they interact with her.

My step-grandma was neurotically obsessed with dolls. She had an entire room of them sitting on shelves from top to bottom. She would be well over a hundred if she were alive today, so she also owned a buttload of weird antique dolls. Whenever we visited her in Minnesota she would drag me to that horrible room and make me "play" with the dolls because I was the only girl. I've always hated dolls, and my family found it hilarious that I had to suffer through this, but it wasn't a joke to ME! I would actually get physically ill in that room...heck the whole house was creepy. The weirdest part is that my grandma was a mean and spiteful old lady, so it was even more terrifying because these moments were the ONLY time I would ever see her smile.
Barely 3 words in and already a mistake. The first doll doesn't remotely resemble porcelain. She's made of "composition", which is very similar to what they make particle board out of. Essentially, they put together wood pulp (sawdust) and some kind of horse hide glue. As soon as I saw her, I thought of the doll feet away from me in my closet, who was my mom's. She's very similar. They were made from the end of the 20s through the early 40s of the last century.
