when you go sturgeon fishing, go next to the shore in 12 ft of water at the change of the tide, they like to feed when there is no current, from shore to channel. Remember they are hunting shrimp too. Happy hunting.
Use a sardine wrap on a circle hook, while anchored, they will follow the oil slick, I hooked a 8-9 footer in the Sacramento, and got it next to the boat, awesomeness. About a 50 year old sturgeon.
Sacto River/Delta guys call those moving log and debris hazards “crapagators.” Another main reason for the anchor release is if you hook “Old Moe” and get taken for a fish-powered tour of the anchorage at Potato Slough. Big fun, that!
Appreciate your anchor tutorial. The safety measures are worth the effort. That was a big log for no rain that went by. You can never be too safe. Good stuff !👍
Good effort! I have a himiway! Love mine. I have the tires lined and slimed so no flats. You have inspired me to start fishing again! Thanks. I tried drop shotting for Halibut above Morro Bay. no luck but had some bumps.
The barblels are very important for the stourgan. They know what to do. Happy hunting.always stay tuned with you, it's the thing...... Thanks for being you.
Look up Cache slough in the Delta . There is a Ferry that takes you across Cache slough and you can drive up to the junction of Cache and minor slough. Legendary area for monster size Sturgeon which group up as they travel up river. This area has deep drop offs which serve as a resting area for Sturgeon as they travel up river
I like the learning and fail videos, we can learn so much with you. Do you have footage of the sturgeon bite? I’ve never caught a sturgeon before and am curious what to look for. I had 5 nibbles the other day but nothing stuck and I don’t know if they could have been sturgeon or small striped bass
nice ya darned 'YT spot burner' you! hahaha, just watch that video and am still stunned at what happened. FYI, been following you for almost 2yrs and can say you've never intentionally burned a spot on, well, a small body of water called, ummm, the Pacific Ocean... sigh, at least you guys handled it well. And congrats on the big beast you caught here. keep the fun content coming... thanks for sharing.
I always found the biggest fish show up when least expected anyway, just gotta be in it to win it, keep going wanna see how you you handle a beast from the yak, he he. Good video as usual
Go boutta 100 yards forward in the direction you’re facing and there’s a big drop off right next to the water break wall, my cousin caught a monster there, looked to be in the slot limit, broke off as we’re about to land it, he literally jumped in after it lol. Didn’t land it.
You’re Already A Great Content Creator To Me & I Love The Vids But It’s Crazy Realizing You Haven’t Even Peeked On The Platform Yet!! After You Hit 100k You’ll Get 1M In 6 Months , Keep Up Your Consistency , You Put A Lot Of Smiles On Faces!! Hope You See This As A Little Motivation & Not Judgment aha TIGHT LINES! 🎣🤟🏾
FYI if you wanna catch a big one use rainbow trout for bait. Or shad. I’ve caught monster here in Oregon. Ghost shrimp is good bait but too many small fish pick at it.
Hey thanks for posting all your videos I love it I am a bass fisherman who's interested in getting a kayak and getting out to the ocean as well do you have a video that explains your setup Trying to figure out what type of kayak to start with
Was that Pittsburg or nearby? I fished for stripers there a few times while I was working on a temporary contract at a refinery. Always trolled the edge of an island with Bomber Long A's with a 4" white plastic worm on the rear hook. It worked well we often got limits which was 2 fish over 18" at the time I think. Got some interesting comments from locals after they saw the Idaho stickers on a boat with limits of stripers. Good times. While I don't miss living in California even temporarily I do miss some of the fishing adventures I had.
Try a hole herring wrapped with a sand shrimp. And try shorting your leader so it lays on the bottom better. My bait is literally 10in from my slider. I feel like if your leader is longer the current brings it off the bottom. Oh inject yourself bait with sand shrimp oil also. Good luck!
Why didn't you go to Montezuma slough by Suisun. I thought there were sturgeon over there, maybe would have been more protected from the wind,! Still a nice video, can't catch em all, Adam!
I caught a 6 foot Leapord shark from my float tube, almost landed it but the shark thrashed and I freaked out and dropped it. Wanted that photo so bad.
