For 3-days I fasted, read Buddhist philosophy, and meditated. This is the story of that experience. In the next video, I will show days 4-7 of this journey where the experience turned out quite different...
I have taught myself to only eat during a four hour window. Been eating this way for four years now. A three day fast is easy. My longest fast was 19 days. That was a bit of a challenge. I can consume THC without getting the munchies. What is my secret? Don’t eat foods that produce dopamine. The worst foods to eat contain sugar. If I eat something sweet I fold like a cheap lawn chair.
Excellent...twice I attended 10 days vipassana. It was an ok experience. I was planning to do long continuous meditation/Dhyana at home but was able to do a few half an hour to 1 hour Sessions in a day. I was not able to gather the will power to go for long periods. Your video is good motivation for me..Lets see how long will I be able to do It this weekend.
23 hours into a 72-hour water fast myself. It’s awesome to see your journey. If you see this, could you kindly give me a quick synopsis of Tibetan Buddhist meditation? I know it’s a quick Google search away, but I prefer to hear it from someone who really understands the practice.
Hey man, i donno if you will read this comment. I am in a very bad state of mind / point in my life. Anxiety, depression ,money, health issues and what not. I dono where to begin, where to go or where to start, what to do. I just received some spark in your video. It would help a lot if you make videos that helps people like me on topics i am suffering that i mentioned. I dono what to write as closing note, lets see if all sets well. Thank you for the efforts!
I also fast. I did four day fasts a couple of times. Be aware that if you do an extended fast like that, you shouldn’t break your fast with a big meal. There is something known as refeeding syndrome and it might even kill you. Eat something like 3-4 hundred calories and not so heavily carbohydrate. Wait another several hours and then you can eat normally.
Hi, you are putting out good content. I do not know much about Buddha, but I do not think you should try and copy what he did some 3000 years back. I remember that he had very big reasons(understanding the suffering stuff) and wanted to find answers(and he shows full commitment in finding the solutions) . It might get dangerous, please be sure to take of yourself and be under proper supervision when you undertake such actions in the future please.
Hey man, have you ever tried Ramadan fasting? It's the month of Ramadan and we are all fasting tomorrow. It's a soft dry fast, a bit like OMAD fasting. Fasting includes abstaining from food, water, drugs and any sexual activity. It also includes fasting of the Tongue (Abstaining from vulgar language and bad words) fasting of the Ear(Abstaining from music and intentionally listening to bad words) and fasting of the Eyes(Abstaining from looking at inappropriate images or p8rnogrphy and looking at the opposite gender without necessity) etc. Ramadan fasting has a lot of physical, psychological, and spiritual benefits. You can look up the physical benefits of Ramadan fasting to learn more. It also makes us appreciate food and water and other blessings we have in our lives and increase our gratitude towards our creator. The fasting starts from Fajr (Dawn) and ends at Maghrib (Sunset). Fajr (Dawn) tomorrow in Turin would be at 5:33 AM and Maghrib (sunset) at 7:54 PM. There is a Suhoor (Predawn meal) which you can take before Fajr(Dawn), but it shouldn't contain pork, and you can't drink alcohol. If you are planning to fast this is the routine I personally recommend: 1. Wake up before Fajr(Dawn) and eat Suhoor(Predawn Meal). 2. Make Wudhu(Ablution before prayer) and pray the Fajr prayer (The prayer after the dawn breaks). (You can learn how to pray online. You don't have to recite every word because this is your first time :). Just follow the actions and pray for guidance from your creator with sincerity while in Sujood(Prostration). Also, you can pray outside or inside your home whichever you prefer. Just make sure the praying spot is clean and no images or statues in front of you. Muslims pray 5 times a day and a Prayer usually takes 5-10 minutes. Fajr is the first prayer of the day) 3. Go outside at least half an hour before sunrise and recite Dhikr(Words of Remembrance and gratitude to your creator) like Subhanallah (Glory be to God), Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), and Allahu Akbar (God is the greatest) as much as you like. 4. While outside listen to Quran recitation with translation. (I personally recommend the Quran recitations playlist on my channel which also have English translation.) 5. Learn more about Islam while fasting. I highly recommend playlists on my channel named The meaning of Life, Prophecies and miracles, Islam and Other World Religions: A Comparative Study, The Genius of Islam and other playlists which discusses fundamental beliefs in Islam, the problem of evil, consciousness, the purpose of life, unseen world etc. 6. Read English translation of The Quran. Ramadan is the month in which The Quran was revealed. So we are encouraged to read Quran. I recommend 'The Clear Quran', an English Translation of The Quran by Mustafa Khattab. I also recommend reading another book named The Sealed Nectar. 7. Give charity even if it's small. It's encouraged to give charity more in the month of Ramadan. 8. If you like you can pray the midday prayer (Dhuhr) and After noon prayer (Asr) 9. Visit a masjid nearby for Iftar(Breaking of fast after sunset) gathering. . I personally recommend Masjid Taiba in Turin. They ususally have Iftar. Just introduce yourself and tell them you are a non-Muslim and you are doing Ramadan fast. Insha Allah (God willing), they will welcome you to join them if they are having Iftar. Muslims are one of the most welcoming people you will ever come across. 10. Observe the congregational Maghrib prayer in the masjid. You can also observe the Isha prayer (Night prayer) if you like. After that, there is a long prayer which takes almost 50 minutes and usually which includes recitation of the Quran. If you like you can observe that as well. They have good Quran reciter with a melodious voice. I am telling you, man, this will be a different, life-changing experience, different from anything you have experienced before, Insha Allah (God willing). I personally benefited a lot from doing Ramadan fasting, and I hope you will have a great experience too. Please let me know what you think :)
