This guy puts out honest and quality videos. I like and trust him 10x`s more that the manufactures showing alot of false or craftlt enhanced videos of the "Pedal DJour" they are selling. IE: The new delay PRS pedals they are trying to pawn off. Expensive lousy to semi -o.k. stuff.
@@JayLeonardJ any tips for getting that sweet dotted eighth note delay on a pedal that only has 'level/feedback/delay' settings.. it does have tap as well.. it seems I'm close but not quite there!! also..I'm in Vancouver too.. gotta get out to a show!!
Jay, I’ve watch so many of your videos over the past few years and they are always entertaining, immensely useful and full of fantastic playing and a clear joy for music. Thank you 🙏
This one was extra useful for me! I'm still learning to use pedals in general, and have arrived at my destinations for many, which is fun and awesome. But delay has been something I only use for slapback, maybe a quick attempt at some ambient or rhythmic stuff. With your specific examples and their explanations I now feel more confident that I can sound like that. I'm comin' for ya Jay! Of course, it's taken me 40 years to get this far... Seriously, I look forward to new content here mostly for your playing, but when the topic is this personally relevant, all the better! Thanks!
Wow! Your tone is killer! …and inspiring! Time to completely rethink my Helix setup for my tele… 😂 What distortion pedal(s) are you using in this video?
Thank you-great video. Delay is the most personal "Colorization" pedal to me. It replaces reverb etc. I have many delay pedals. If you have not heard of -Option 5- a very small company-no longer making pedals their 2 tier delay is my favorite. Please at least check out the review on RU-vid. I think they can be bought on Reverb. I bought one locally on Craigs list for 140.00. That along with a Saffron Squeeze compressor is almost perfect. Take care-Shawn.
I like him he’s cool not annoying n he knows his stuff. But he needs to keep pedal on screen so u can absorb the settings. I’m annoyed by a lot of guitar RU-vidrs but they leave pedal on screen so I can get info. I will watch more of his. I like him n hopefully he figures out split screen! Thank u!
I actually took that comment to heart. I'll try to do some more split screen stuff in the future. It is a little more time consuming, but I can definitely see how that can be much more helpful :)
I guess what would be your favorite song to play with a delay in each effect? I've been in love with delay since 1999 on Aurora from there is nothing left to lose by the foo fighters track six and anywho my point is I finally had the funds nearly 20 years of guitar playing later to finally buy some pedals and I got a 3 series delay and I love it for the aurora sound but man I need some effort in the area of making it sound good.
These are some of MY favorites of your posts. Rather than selling the latest, whatever…how to use the stuff you (probably) already have. At the end of the day, a good player can use ANY similar kind of equipment to create a usable sound. Does the Overdrive, Delay, Fuzz HAVE to a certain brand, or in the ballpark?
I have 3 delay+reverb pedals, and 2 reverb pedals on both my boards. I play at church so alot of ambient stuff. I always have a setting for dotted eighth, one for solo and then one long delay for slower songs. Never do slap-back type stuff. My other two reverbs are for modulated swelling and pad type stuff
This video made me think of that scene in "High Fidelity" in which John Cusack's character says "I'm now going to sell five copies of The Beta Band". It's like you said "I"m gonna sell a couple hundred DL4s today."
Excellent! The slapback creates an almost 3D effect. What about the live venue, things could get messy if there's a lot of natural reverb. What is your experience of that?
Awesome talent and insight! Question: Do you have any less0n videos on how to play 50's rockabilly Chet Atkins style? Thanks again for sharing your gift with us guitar aficionados!
I need so much delay help. I just cannot get it to work for me. I love reverb and just cannot find a proper balance when i am throwing delay in with reverb. Love this type of content.
Hopefully this vid was able to help! I just released a video last week about blending a GFI Orca Delay with a GFI Skylar Reverb. Maybe that might help you with some more ideas as well!
Is your amp gained up and you are going in the front end of your amp? If so, try putting it in the effects loop, use a cleaner amp tone and get your gain from a pedal before the delay :)
Appreciate the video. I just have a standard Boss delay pedal but will now experiment to find out what else it can do. It's usually stuck to one setting. Thanks for lighting the fire :)
start with the 8th note delay. And do it as a call and response. slowly move up the speed and start play more and more complex rhythms. With enough practice, you will just sink into the groove :)
I have 2 on my board. A Carbon Copy that I use for reverb when using practice amps and analog when it's needed. And a Donner Echo Square cause it's got an excellent reverse and tape delay. Together can make some good things too. That Line 6 pedal is O K. But it's HUGE. Lot of real estate on a board. Even my DD-5 was big compared to the Donner mini.
@@JayLeonardJ I got my Dime wah when it was 1st released to public. It's on my board. Most expensive pedal on my board also. Well about the same as my modded Butler Tube driver. Another amazing pedal.
