Newcomer question here: At 3:07 "...he has to push on your body...he can't do it without it..." I understand working on th elong end of the lever makes him heavy at the head end. But what about when he post on your armpits, drives in and pops up on onto his feet to stand in a "downward dog" like posture then steps in to get his hips underneath him? 4:40 of this video shows what I mean ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-tC4W9dB7DM0.html&ab_channel=StephanKesting I know he's showing a triangle escape but I have seen this sequence done as the start of a log slitter standing guard break too. What's the answer to that high guard escape? I also have trouble with strong guys posturing up using the sequence that you show at 3:07 to escape my cross collar choke from closed guard, even when my closed guard is nice and high and tight. I can keep the grips as hey stand but my choke isn't effective once they stand up. What do? Should I open my guard and push their hips away with my feet to keep them from getting their hips underneath them as they try to stand? Should I abandon the cross collar choke and switch to an arm bar as they try to posture up? Thanks for your great videos!

According to John danaher you want to cross grip their sleeve and tricep same side grip and work on the Roger Gracie arm drag attack series where you can threaten the back, sweeps or arm bars. But that’s all contingent on getting the arm drag. I use that exclusively when someone tries the arm pit move.

Also a better frame of mind is to grip fight and use your legs to break them down before they get that grip with posture. By definition if they are extending for the arm pit it means you have the opportunity to break their posture which makes the grip rather useless and vulnerable to overhook attack series.
