If you look back at his earlier work, he started off with spoken poetry. Probably why there's a rhythm to how he speaks. And sometimes rhymes. Pretty unique 👍🏾

I love this! After having a chaotic upbringing with no real safe space, I'm quite comfy in my predictable days that blend together and don't bring constant drama and problems. I view it as stability for my kids, establishing routine for them and normalcy that I didn't have growing up. I look forward with great anticipation to many points throughout my repetitive days. The way I feel after brushing my teeth, washing my face and slathering it with moisturizer. The first sip of the same iced coffee I drink every day. Walking into my empty house after I take the kids to school, and eating breakfast in peace while my chickens chatter in the background. I have everything I've always wanted. It's not fancy or expensive - my bar was pretty low tbh. I have a husband, lovely kids, a house, and flexible jobs that allow me to be available for my kids. We raise chickens and quails. We bought a camper last year and my "goals" are now planning the next adventure. When my co-workers ask how it's going and I say "same shxt, different day," I am smiling because it's not a complaint. I love the routine and my husband and I worked hard to make it happen.

The repetitive tasks of household chores are an example of something that doesn't move me toward a goal, necessarily, but I find my 'joy' in the gratitude that having these tasks means I am fortunate enough to have my home. Likewise, the necessary repetitive tasks at work mean I'm fortunate enough to be working.

I am all for joy in repetition! My life changed immensely when I realized peace was something to strive for versus a fleeting feeling of happiness. There is something to be learnt from the "wishing your enemies an interesting life".

Point #1 is already very meaningful to me; for example if you repetitively study for an exam or to learn something it gives you some meaning and progress in life. If it’s just to eat, sleep and pay the bills it feels pointless (even if we all know it’s necessary to have roof over our heads and food to eat)

This video is honestly something I didn't know I needed until now! Upon waking up this morning, I decided to journal out my thoughts and feelings, and the issue of repetition/stagnation that you talked about is something I ended up journaling on. Thank you for sharing these helpful and practical insights, Ronald! 💖

You’re spot on! I’ve spent decades listening and listening to RU-vidrs, audio books, podcasts, being motivated, knowing there’s something great in me, I know I have potential but I’m stuck on how to take action. I’ve been a stay at home mom for 22 years 😢 4 kids No degree no real job experience (I have worked very little (as receptionist, translator which I’m very good at) I’m Crying/praying at night and morning when I wake up feeling like a loser because I need to make money, I homeschool my two youngest(14 and 6) so I feel stuck at home, no car right now either, husband provides but has his own business going on so he’s investing. I’m fed up being dependent. I want to be free, mentally, financially. I wanted to obtain a certificate but can’t afford it right now. How do I take action? How does that look like for me? I struggle with what thoughts to have in order to take action. Sorry for the rant 😅 I just discovered your videos and I am truly desperate to do better, to learn how to take action

Your comments resonate well with me. I'm fortunate to be leading a couple of different teams. One thing I've found is that it's very difficult to keep a team balanced between being bored, and being overwhelmed. That middle happy spot can be tough to achieve. I'm sure I'm not the only one to have trouble with that...if you're looking for ideas for new content that might be helpful to many people.

Wow… discovered you scrolling around RU-vid. Very insightful and informative! It’s true throughout the day people make demands of us at our jobs, in our lives, and in our homes that prevent us from finding that joy as we struggle to make them happy at our own expense. I too have recently learned to say NO more often than yes. If my job calls me after hours, it can wait till morning. Financial literacy I agree should be taught in schools, people stay financially stressed because of bad habits. Stress is also self inflicted. I agree with everything you said, I would however add that attitude, one’s ability to be emotionally positive is truly as important. Waking up and mentally believing you will make the best of your day. You have an amazing speaking voice! Great advice

Great addition to the conversation James! Emotional positivity is every important and I’m glad you brought this up. There’s a saying that goes… “your attitude determines your altitude” I believe this goes hand in hand with the point you brought up here. Waking up and mentally believing you will make the best of your day is key!! Thank you for mentioning this! Also I’m happy my content reached you and decided to click. I hope you continue to get value from my videos and resources. If you ever have any questions don’t hesitate to ask!

Love the way you express your ideas and yes you inspire me. I admit I am guilty of saying things like “days just drift” or “life feels a bit too similar at the moment”. I do deliberately change things up and set goals, and I do find comfort in repeating tasks (when I find a way mentally to make them feel enjoyable). I totally agree our perspective and the story we tell ourselves about our lives and routines changes the way we view the things we do. It can often make tasks more enjoyable or even exciting. I also agree that stress is due to our choices and how we choose to interact with others. The less own the freer we are; and the less we tolerate people who bring us down the better we feel.

Thanks! I'm really enjoying your videos, and know that living in an inspired way takes thought and planning. I've always been happier when I know where I'm going and how to get there. I used to keep a list of classes I needed to take to complete my degree, taped to the inside of my cupboard door. I'd revisit it after every semester and cross off what I'd accomplished. There's something about crossing off or checking off that is so psychologically satisfying. It also motivated me to continue, since I could see my progress. I got my degree in the time I'd given myself. Applying goal-setting and crossing off to other aspects of my life was a big help. Kudos to you!

When I was in my 20s I got bored easily and changed jobs too often. I thought I just wasn't being challenged. Fast forward many years and now I embrace repetition with variables. I like to know what my day will look like but can go with the flow when things change either at work or in my personal life. Even habits like picking out tomorrow's outfit before going to bed help make the morning easier even if I occasionally change my mind or the weather does. Thanks for reinforcing this.

Your videos are so awesome, and those three problems are spot on. I think problem number one and two are related: It is tempting to set fewer goals in order to be less stressed. A balance is needed between setting inspiring goals and not getting stressed out by the challenges those goals present.

So timely. I was asked by my Dr. what I was looking forward to. I didn’t have an answer. This repetitive nature of every day and everything, it’s caused me to be apethetic toward the future. I’m finding that what I’m looking forward to the most, is a condition or environment of calm. I look forward to not being in a home that makes me feel anxious. For those of you that work everyday should be different. I'm retired and physically hampered. One of the things that I constantly struggle with is seeing progress in what I'm doing, namely playing bass guitar. My wife tells me that she likes what I'm doing, I know the difference in what's good or bad, yeah black and white, that's what I know. I guess the fact that it takes about 10,00 hours to become proficient, then it becomes "WHY BOTHER"!!!

How do you declutter your emotions?
@RonaldLBanks
@RonaldLBanks Год назад
Two ways primarily: Talk it out or write it out. I like writing because it helps you take your emotions (somethings that invisible to the eye) and make them visible. When you can see how you feel writing on paper it changes how you deal with them. Now you can treat that journey entry or brain dump like a checklist. Focus on one at a time and take the necessary steps you resolve that emotion. Then when you’re done, throw away or burn the paper. This also makes it less overwhelming. Talk it out is just that. If you need to meet with a professional I encourage it. Or find someone you trust to have open conversations with that won’t have a bias opinion. Similar to writing, talking takes your emotions from being invisible to visible. How you can hear them and see then written which again helps you deal with them one at a time. Hope that helps!!
