Hello brother, please include the sentences you speak... Because we can't relate to this English very fast but still want to watch your videos and want to gain knowledge. I am not perfect in English, means that I can understand by reading but can't understand when your are in flow during speaking. Your little efforts can change my life style and expand knowledge. Please provide us in written what you are saying during the video. Pleaseeeee🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🥺
Study the people that you admire. So I am gonna watch all videos that I can find of Bhuvan Bam, Russell Peter , Fittuber , Mark Rober and of you Captain ❤️❤️❤️.
Problem is it's getting harder to find people to admire. Seems like everyday great historical figures' histories are being rewritten and doucheified by pessimistic "moral" activists; sanctifying their own existence by digging up unsubstantiated allegations of these figures, then vilifying them beyond public redemption.
@@maxi-me there's certainly some truth in what you say, though it's also true that things like hero worship and the "great men" theory of history tend to hide or ignore many character flaws. Putting that aside, though, it's possible to admire someone while also acknowledging their flaws. Steve Jobs was abusive, but he was also a genius. We can learn from both of those things - how to live, and how not to live.
1. Study people you admire 2. Try out new experiences and opportunities 3. Don't let labels restrict you Love the message that creativity is all about combining from diverse sources. Awesome video!
there can never be a video that 'changes your life'. Change is not something that can be caused by external motivation or inspiration. It's internal and does not even need motivation. The only one that can change your life is the person you're seeing in the mirror. It's nothing but a clear decision, precisely spoken: It's nothing more than daily decisions, hence discipline and routine.
I thought the exact same thing: this video is more focused/concise and is better edited than D'Avella's "Less is Now." Really great video and message.... 👍👍👍
One of my favorite things to do weekly is the “artist date” where I take my inner artist on a solo date to explore or experience something new, completely out of my usual daily activities and concerns ... purely for delight and without any ‘reason’ ... inspired by Julia Cameron. I can confidently say this activity pays great dividends... and not just in my stock trading domain✨ Beautiful message, beautifully crafted episode! ✨👏🏻😍
Curiosity in an adult is a wonderful thing. It’s a nurture, a practice. If there’s one thing that should never change as you get older, boom. Never let it die.
The struggle of a creator is unfathomable. You need to fight: -Your demons -Resistance -Creator's block -Banality and cliches -Repetition -The "genius" and impatience of the crowd -The viciousness of the critics -Your success But it's worth every second of it. Go all the way.
Best opening line - The Restaurant at the End of the Universe: "The story so far: In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move." Thank you very much Douglas Adams
Can I ask? I'm experiencing so much stress for these past few months.. the usual things that makes me happy, even my favorite food, can't make me happy.. I don't know what will make me happy
I just started reading again and my creativity has been off the charts in the last couple of weeks! So it really helps! Also, starting a RU-vid channel and having that as a creative outlet (instead of focusing 150% on my corporate job) has made me a lot happier overall. Thanks for the content Thomas Frank, keep making people creative!
My favorite quote about exploration from my favorite phd was: "In order to discover your 'self,' do the things you haven't done; and don't do the things you have done today." This was all about going out of the comfort zone but seemed so simple that I've turned it into my motto easily.
Here we go 1) Explore - a) Broaden the scope what u intake ( Study the people you admire ) 2) Experience and Oppertunity 3) Labels - Stay in your lane , can be useful for communication and find niche . Brand new Class , Go and watch 😘 🙏🏼...If I misssed something , plz reply 🙏🏼
the most underated youtuber ever i do realy like your content bro i apreciate the help that you give us trough the screen iam very proud of peapoles like you
If only it was that easy. I haven't even left my country (and I'm living not in the US but in a small european country) for my entire life. I feel so cranked, limited and suppressed by both myself and my environment (even before COVID). It's gone to the point I start to struggle in university because I have zero motivation anymore and don't see the big picture. I really want to explore but I'm so dependent on my environment (other people etc.) right now. The worst part is all people I know (even my family) has no idea about that and thinks I'm a focused, determined and confident person but I'm not.
@@girish9242 Oh, glad you ask. About 2 weeks ago, some fellow students and I started catching up an old university team project we decided to finish now in march. And things have changed drastically to the better for me. I see my mental health getting better every day. I feel more fulfilled than for a very long time and really enjoy the social interaction I have these days. The project is going strong and we're doing some big progress which really boosts my confidence now. However, the final exams were really bad but fortunately I get a "second chance" because this semester I was not obliged to pass any exam. I kind of tick it off now and start looking forward. Next semester starts in 3 weeks and I'm confident that I have some more motivation. I also have contacted some other friends I haven't contacted for months during the pandemic and started to see some of them regularly now. Well, aside from the fact that I'm more psychologically stable now I still feel the desire to be "more free" and travel in other countries, etc. I really hope I will stay this motivated throughout the next time and I'm definitely still planning on going into vacation this year (my last vacations were in 2016) if the pandemic situation does allow it. Since you wrote, you are in the same situation, I really suggest you to get off RU-vid. I actually just read your comment because I only go onto RU-vid every Sunday and received an E-Mail. The last three weeks, I just visited RU-vid on 3 days. And you will notice that you will have so much more time to work on things that really bring you forward. After some days, you won't miss it anymore. And really really important: uninstall the RU-vid App on your phone and only visit it through your computer with the extension "DF Tube" so you're making sure you will not get down the rabbit hole by recommended videos. Cheers
@@cdefgah4343 I'm glad your situation has gotten better. I'm also trying to find something fulfilling, like finding a project to work on or learning about more stuff in general. But I'm not quite motivated to do anything and I'm still unsure of the bigger picture or what I even enjoy academically. My college is still having an online semester, and I don't know when it'll end, but hopefully when it does my situation will improve with the campus experience. I probably should use less RU-vid, but I'm on enough apps that I'd probably find a way to compensate that time elsewhere. I gotta work on minimizing all of that. Well, I've been trying, and it hasn't worked. I think the only way it'll change is when I find something fulfilling and I'm able to interact with people on campus. Anyway, thanks for your response and your suggestion about using RU-vid, I'll try implementing that.
2020-2021 was THE WORST for new experiences! No wonder it’s so hard to be inspired: we’ve been stuck at home, surrounded by awful news every day. You’re basically left to your own motivation, and here’s where videos like this are invaluable. Thank you.
My best opening line, from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice “It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife ” Now that's a scene-setter if I ever read one.
Note to self: Now watch this video again tomorrow. And the day after. And the one after. Till it sticks. That will be the difference with just "dumm" media consumption.
I want people to think about this: " can this videos become a toxic part of your life?" I mean this constantly search for a productive life, success, career etc. Always getting angry with yourself for not being "inspiring" "disciplined"and all this good stuff. What have you become since you started watching this kind of thing? Is it really better or you just wasted time with something else? If it's better how so? Maybe you got better but it was negative in other ways. Well just me talking about it helped myself a little.
bruh....i dont realise why he has only 2mil subs(probably due to "labels" lol) his videos contain so much value and the quality of his videos have improved significantly!!
I'm a quiet viewer/podcast listener but I wanted to get out of my shell and say this: This is an amazing video, exactly what I needed. Feeling okay to get out of my label and feeling okay to exploring new things that may or may not go somewhere but can be another dot on my journey...this video feels like Thomas patted my head and was like hey it's totally okay to do that! Thank you so much, I really hope we have some podcast episodes on each of these topics!
The opening of this video made me head to my bookshelf and grab my copy of Neuromancer - I'm old (and lived near Vancouver at the time) - so I have the first edition - great book. So - now I'm distracted and am going to re-read it :) haha - loved the video.
This is such a good content idea. I have watched dozens of youtube videos on editing videos and I've learned. But without buying expensive video editing software and in the time of quarantine, find a physical mentor...I don't know how to improve.
Just some suggestions off the top of my head. Have you tried shadowing? TV stations, theatrical departments, even houses of worship. If you can't shadow, you might be able to buy time or get a mentor or more. Museums sometimes do video installations; someone has to shoot and edit them. Do you have Fiverr and/or Cameo in your area? You could contact those people - someone has to shoot and edit those videos. I saw a regular listing the other day of want ads for people in the arts. I'll find it again and post it here. Maybe you won't fit the job, but you could find people to get in touch with. Same with online sites like rhizome, for example. Keep up with the video watching and contact the creators you like and ask them, especially for someone in your area. People know people who know people, etc. You've probably already come up with most of these ideas, if not all. Hopefully one or two will strike a chord. :)
Oddly enough watching this brought to mind the opening of H.P. Lovecraft's "The Call of Cthulhu": "The most merciful thing in the world, I think, is the inability of the human mind to correlate all its contents. We live on a placid island of ignorance in the midst of black seas of infinity and it was not meant that we should voyage far. The sciences, each straining in its own direction, have hitherto harmed us little; but some day the accidental piecing together of dissociated knowledge will open up such terrifying vistas of reality, and of our frightful position therein, that we shall either go mad from the revelation or flee from the deadly light into the peace and safety of a new dark age." Loved the video. I'm going to buy a copy of "Neuromancer" now.
Loved Neuromancer, another favorite opening line of mine, “We were somewhere around Barstow on the edge of the desert when the drugs began to take hold.”
I’m so glad I saw this video in my home page and clicked on it, it helped me realize that I have been losing my desire for exploration and as a consequence my curiosity, I’ll make sure to get back to exploring; great video, great topic, thank you !
Excellent video amen! I was definitely tuned in for the first two thirds of the video. Maybe my attention was too focused on what I had just heard to pay undivided attention to the rest idk. It seemed a little like a song with a certain tempo that speeded up a little by a drummer who got caught up lol. I'd like to see a video just like this of you on this topic for about an hour straight uncut. I've seen your videos over the last year or two popping up but today this really caught my attention. I'm going to watch it again right now to absorb a little more. Thanks amen
I was refreshing my subscriptions hoping to see a video from you. The video, storytelling, images, colograding, message was absolutely insane! Thank you!
Every year you are getting better and better with your videos. I've been following you since 2016! You are really inspiring and always leave me in a better mood. Much love to you my friend, you are one of a kind.
What an unbelievable video. New subscriber here. I love the collecting dots idea. Can't wait to do some more exploration and unleash the floodgates of creativity! Hoping to make videos as good as this one day. Thanks man Tom!
I love the new editing style you have developed. The cut at 1:42 was amazing sending shivers down my spine. The work on the script is amazing, keep up the great work it's wonderful!
"...we stumble across something that works and then we just keep exploiting that thing again and again and again, partly because there are material rewards for doing so, but mostly because we're afraid to try something new."
Great info here and happy to find out about Neuromancer. Much progress in life comes from random opportunities and serendipitous events for sure. A habit of trying new things on purpose can definitely be a game changer ☀️ Subscribed 😊
