I know what he meant by schools but yeah poor choice of words. We don’t need someone who’s anti gun to clip this and use it out of context to support a conspiracy theory they thought up
I have owned the same Mossberg 500 for going on 35 plus years. 1000s of rounds through it. Polly chock and a slug barrow. Not one failure or prepare needed. Bought it on sale for $129.95 plus tax. No regreats
I bought mine, model 500 20 gauge with poly choke, back in 1982. I worked the tobacco fields to buy that at $50 used. I still have that, and will probably pass it on to one of my grandkids. Was deer hunting with it when I was a kid. I dropped it into a stream and had to fish it out. It was bitter cold that day so it was freezing up and getting stiff. I field stripped it, took about 5 minutes, dried everything out and put it back together... no tools. Worked until I got back to the house, dragging a deer. I love that gun so much, I bought two more with different modifications. One for self defense.
@@braddouglas7839 Thank you for sharing that story. The Mossberg brand for the money, I believe is one of the best values out there. Two of my son's have thier eyes on my 12 gauge.
I bought my Mossy 500 18" "cruiser" in 1973. I have shot 1000's of rounds through it... trap, skeet, slugs, all of the bucks, cut shells, wax shells. I will always grab it first, just because I can cycle it fast, load it or top it off fast, and hit what I want to hit. There is just nothing like familiarity.
@@braddouglas7839 I went the multi barrel route - one action, 3 barrels. I keep thinking I will buy that 20 inch 8 round tube version, just for giggles.
Ditch tacticool guns and get as simplified as you can stand. A pump action scattergun with rails, lights, lasers, and sirens is likely to get you the wrong attention. Also, you don’t need a $1000+ Italian brand scattergun, what’s wrong with a Remington 870, Winchester, or Mossberg or even those less expensive Turkish guns? If you ever use it to defend yourself the law is going to take it and you’re never going to see it again, so why give them something they’ll want to keep? Free expensive shotgun! They all do the same thing. A semiauto runs in semiauto and a pump is a pump is a pump. I personally prefer Remington over the rest but some prefer Browning, some Winchester and on. Ditch the idea that your shotgun is a war machine because that feeds the retards who want to pass UNCONSTITUTIONAL LAWS and steal all our guns!
Remington 870 with 18.5" barrel is a great go to gun, also installed a "youth" stock which fits me better than the original stock. Very dependable gun.
@@richspinaci8293 I've taken my short barreled (18.5") trusty 870 to the skeet range and it does very well, compared to others using shotguns with longer barrels.
Here's a tip. Go with a full sized Mossberg Field/Deer combo and then buy an 18.5" tactical barrel for $100. Now you have 3 shotguns in one. You've got a rifled barrel that will take a scope for deer, a field barrel with 3 different sized chokes for birds and clay targets, and you've got the short barrel for home defense.
I had a Remington 870 that I sold 10 years ago. It was perfect. I bought an 870 Tactical Express recently. Great gun, but damn the quality in finish went down tremendously. I run mine with an 8-shot Mesa Tactical saddle and a Hogue 12” LOP stock. The stock is perfect. It keeps the feel and look of that classic shotty/rifle aesthetic while making it so much more comfortable. It’s oversized rubber/polymer, so it absorbs the kick fairly well.
Left that w/ my wife when I deployed and attached it w/ the bayonet. I figured if she misses every shot, between Reload "My dog" and the bayonet, she has a chance.
I bought a 590 when I turned 18 in the Nineties. Ordered it with a Side Saddle and SpeedFeed stock, and was told when I picked it up that they wouldn’t have been able to sell it to me if Mossberg had shipped it with the pistol grip attached. Spent years with the M500 Mil in the Army and when I researched the differences I saw that one was that the 500 Mil and 590A1 had an aluminum trigger guard while the standard 590 had a plastic one. Figured I had an older version since my trigger guard is aluminum, then finally disassembled it for the first time in years to find a big 590A1 stamp on the receiver. My other home defense shotguns include a Steiger coach and a police surplus Winchester 1200 Riot. Oh, and AWB politics led to the seizure of my old pistol gripped M500 with heat shield. Looked scary, so a liberal judge upheld a concealed weapon conviction even after being found not guilty of concealing a snubnose revolver in the same location as I transported them to the range.
The only clear footage I've ever seen of a shotgun being used on someone was the pistol grip used in the church shootong in Texas. Morbid as it was, it fully demonstrated the lethal blast a good shotgun posseses. It's perfect for self defense. NOTHING is going to survive a direct blast to the head or torso. That's a one and done trigger squeeze.
@@Ogrematic Yeah, I paid a lot of money for mine used. Also spent a lot of extra money getting aftermarket parts to get it into firing shape, but now that I did, it's definitely a cool piece.
I’ve had mine since 1971. My father bought two for us to bird hunt with. Later added folding stock and 18” barrel. Been extremely reliable hunting, target practice, clay pigeons and handy for home defense. Only used once for home defense and racking the action sent 4 teenagers running back out the door they had just booted in quicker than I think they had ever run before! 😳 luckily no shots were required!
Early '90's vintage Remington 870P's....back when craftmanship was still a thing. You can still occasionally find 870P LE trade-ins but they are few and far between. Thank you Kevin for all you do....greatly appreciated.
I agree. I have a 870 Police Magnum, 9 shot with Davis stock that holds another 4 rounds. It has a parkerized finish built in 1996 or 97. It is parked next to my bed.
Kevin, what are your thoughts on the mini shells? I have those loaded in my shockwave, and I have the aftermarket block installed for those shells. Just wanted your opinion. TIA
I use a Savage Stevens 320 20ga security pump. 2 room place, I went light and simple, nothing to fuss with. Buckshot backed up with a few .600 round ball slugs.
1:12. Video game logic 101. That little Shockwave or any sort of saw off shotguns will be consider..."the strongest in the game" because the barrel is shorter, has the lowest accuracy and the lowest capacity. 1:48. Video game logic 102. That basic standard will be consider..."The basic starter shotgun" because it's wood and isn't scary black. It has min to basic accuracy and damage. It hold basic capacity aka 5 shells. 2:46. Video game logic 103. That defensive tactical black shotgun will be consider...."The WEAKEST shotgun because it's black, look scary, it can shoot faster, reload faster and holds more shells aka 8 shells.
@@Prepper_Raider now that I have experienced the minishells, I don't think that is true about the powder loads. The mini-shells use reduced powder and shot charge, and as a result, recoil is decreased and capacity increased in repeaters. It's partly why they don't cycle in auto-loading shotguns. As far as what to use for proper grip of a Shockwave, I have found the push-pull method to be quite successful.
I'd look at a new 20ga Mossberg brand Shockwave. Get some custom stuff from Vang Comp. I'd consider a 20ga Mossberg for home 🏡 protection too but I have a few 9mm, .45acp hand guns for that role.
We own several Mossberg shotgun. 88's, 590's and auto loaders. Here's a 700 round test with an 88. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE--9OL7IquoIo.html
Not a mossberg but I do have a H&r pardner pump with a black hawk adjustable stock pistol grip and light mounted for my home defense have had it for 3 years Andover 1500 various rounds through it.it favorite of the 4 12 gauges I have
Definitely the IWI TS 12 is much better than the shotguns you have in your video you have to put 200 rounds through it first and then it gets incredibly reliable and you can’t beat it as a tactical shotgun
There are definitely benefits of a bullpup, 16 round shotgun. My IWI TS12 allows me to maneuver around the home without raising the barrel to go around corners. Shoots incredibly accurate as well. 16 shots and easy reload. 3 different ammo types can be loaded as well.
The term "tactical" implies something intended for law enforcement, para-military, or straight-up military application. While I know that implication is bogus, do you want your jury in a self-defense case to hear your prosecutor explain that you frequently employ or shop for "tactical" firearms?
the best home defense shot gun is the Keltec KSG. It is almost the same lengh as the shock wave but has a stock and holds up to 14 rounds. KSG also allows you to have two kinds of ammo if you chose.
Really not "other" as in an AOW (Any other weapon). AOWs are NFA items. The Shockwave is classified as a "Firearm" as it's overall length is greater than 26". The Henry Axe is another example.
I have a Crimson Trace green laser on my shockwave. Easy to sight in with a laser shell and then it will shoot exactly where you place the green dot. This would work with a less expensive red laser, but green has a range advantage.
I bought a couple crazy semiautotacticals. A couple, other crazy, different A. KAR style, but you bet your a** Somebody comes through my front door the only gun I'm gonna trust with my life is one of my tactical pumps. Not one of those that are a clone of this or that or imported from Zimbabwe or wherever. Actually, Turkey makes really good guns after buying for of their canik Pistols had I known. They were out and as nice as they were for the price. And in my opinion, most of them, I'm not even gonna say it's far controversy, but what caught my eye? What I first seen them was the words glock killer Followed by a? Knowing that a gun store about a 1/2. An hour away was a retailer of these guns. I decided to rent a couple just for s**** and giggles. Because when they showed me one of the models and all the s*** it came with. I thought wow for this price. These must be garbage. And I tell you what I've never been wrong or about anything in my life. I have 2 guns under $500 that I could put an optic going on and probably if I was good enough compete professionally out of the box. If I really wanted to go ham. I would get the new one by Taran. Tactical. That's still under our grand and in my opinion. That thing destroys guns 3 times that's cost. I'm not gonna name many like staccato or any other crazy guns, but yea. H, let me watch this video. I'm getting off course here. I'm getting delusional. I'm so tired sorry
590A1 with Magpul hardware, light mounted so that my thumb turns it on/off, +5 Velcro’d opposite ejection port, +5 slugs Velcro’d outside side of stock, just in case. Why so much ammo, because an LEO told me, you’ll only have as much ammo as is in/on the gun when you pick it up. ( esp. at night in your underwear)
I had a friend who was murdered by being shot in the face at close range with a 12 gauge loaded with bird shot. I wouldn't use it for home defense though.
I’ve got a shockwave that I have attached to my bugout bag as a secondary firearm and love it. Really handy as a secondary backup gun. My brother works at a gun shop and I’ve been really eyeing the 1897 trench shotgun. I’ve always loved those and putting a bayonet on it would be pretty sick.
Now you are talking my language. How soo? Well..... I purchased, home secretary cameras as my evidence, a shotgun as a Home Defense Weapon and a bullet proof backpack as the very very last resort of wall defense. I can't just have a sword (shotgun) to defend and not have a shield (bulletproof backpack) as my life line/last line of defense from an intruder. An AR 15 is a great weapon if the owner defending his/her home and property from people with unethical and evil attentions, can actually aim and hit the target; but very VERY dangerous if you lack even 1, AND I MEAN JUST ONE, of the Four Fundamentals of Marksmanship, because now you have created collateral damage, innocent man, woman, child, and animals have the same percentage of getting hit by it 😳 😒. Training to shoot a non moving target, that is not shooting back, is totally different than shooting a moving target that is shooting back 🤨. Which is why I choose to buy a shotgun instead 😅
Winchester 1300. Why does everyone compare "bird shot" skeet load to buckshot for defense? Nobody ever talks about a high brass #4 pheasant shell as close range low penetration option.
I have a completely stock 500 , but it came with black polymer stock and forend .What a great and reliable shotty , hell I've even used it to shoot clays and it did very well .The Mossberg 500 has never failed me once and I've had it about 12 years now , eats everything I put through it too .
People like to impersonate hold bargaining tools and think there an item of value l of a country or business to give media or there outlets a leg up by incriminating logos people and a community system.
