Between your channel and Acre Homestead, I've been on a binge watching homestead/meal prep videos, I love this kind of content, it's wholesome, inspiring, relaxing. I hope someday to have a home and big garden of my own. I'm Polish, so making your own food from scratch is a normal, cultural thing here. And it's sometimes quite amusing to me to see Americans so amazed that you can make soup or dinner rolls at home, haha. Anyway, great work!

Thanks for watching! Yes, I'm sure those cultural differences add some humor to the videos :) What we think is awesome may be an everyday thing in Poland! Too funny!

You bring so much joy to me and this warms up my soul. It reminds me of my amazing childhood from a village in Romania. We had land with everything that you have, pig, chickens, we relied 99/% on that organic food the entire year. And we had a pantry in the ground. My parents still have all of this and it s pure health. They are very healthy thanks to the food they grow. My mother sends me potatoes and organic products from the garden in a different country, where I live now. Your videos & your family are lovely, peaceful. You are growing some amazing children. I wish you all the health in the world, joy, prosperity and peace.

I'm at a stressful point in my life right now (I'm a teacher and I'm working on my Masters degree) and I just wanted to say how incredibly RELAXING it is to watch your videos! I try to watch one every morning before going to work! This is the first cooking video of yours I've seen and I loved it! How to cook healthy meals, from garden to table -- it's so inspiring! You are what I'd love to be one day! Please do more of them! I still have 3 months left in the school year! 😆

Wow, you guys really had your priorities right when you created that kitchen: the sink, the 2 stoves, the huge countertops, I am drooling. I just love watching someone else cook like we do--using the sprouting onions, using winter squash every which way you can, running out to the garden in the middle of winter for cilantro and kale. I actually got a warm hat with a head lamp for pre-dinner harvesting in the dark months.

These meals look amazing!! Your home is stunningly beautiful and so well designed to accommodate your homesteading and self sufficiency journey. I would love to see a video where you discuss your home design decisions that support your efforts homesteading, like your recent video showing the stacked buckets and appliances in the pantry, your cold room pantry and the propane line on the patio. We bought our property a few years ago and it had a new construction home on it, smaller than the one we sold in the city. Over the past few years of raising animals, growing gardens, preserving and storing food, cooking all of our meals and homeschooling, we have realized some our home’s shortcomings. We are dreaming of buying a larger property and building our home. We would love any input you could provide from your designing, building and implementation experience. Your sweet family is doing such wonderful things!

I use a Lodge Dutch oven and have Wagner cast iron skillets from 1940's. We have 15 bean hamhoc & potato soup recipes passed down from the 40's during rationing and meal tickets. Other recipes are beef stews and hamburger vegetable soups. My other favorite is homemade breads like ciabattas and honey wheat. The same poolish or biga dough can also be used for pizza or focaccia.

You all work so hard & it looks like your family really appreciate the really healthy foods that you prepare for them, I love the way you all tuck into the same meals, not like here (England) where many of the mums have to create lots of separate dishes because their children are such fussy eaters or will only eat take-away food. I grew up with a mum who made bread, cakes ,homemade jam & knitted most of our woolies. I have the same mindset as her too luckily. keep up the good work, you & your family are so inspiring to us all.

So inspiring! I'm really enjoying seeing your family on this journey! Just a tip: It makes me nervous when you chop your veggies! You gotta keep your knives really sharp and use a "pinch-grip" for better control while tucking your fingers in to make a "wall" so your knife will never cut your fingers. You use your pointer and thumb to grasp the blade right before the handle, this is the classical grip for a chef and it makes a big difference when you are prepping large quantities of food. When you only hold the handle your knife is more likely to slip or turn.

As an avid cook this is quite the inspiration. I’ve always thought of canning marinara and chicken stock but love the idea of growing everything. One bit of advice on cutting: most chefs hold the knife a bit differently, instead pinching the blade between your thumb and index finger and the remainder of your hand is on the handle, which gives a lot more control on the blade.

I need more of these recipes. this is wonderful. I am from Minnesota and im starting a small garden but hope to have a homestead in the future. I love to see all these meal options to help me pick out the vegetables I want to grow. My goal is to dry my own spices and make pasta sause and salsa. then I will grow my pantry from there

Fermented jalapeños are my FAVORITE fermented food! 😋 I also fermented jalapeños and garlic with sweet peppers, and wow! They had an amazing flavor, too!!

On the butternut squash seeds are low so with a fine medal mesh strainer pick out all seed's put in strainer and wash seed's well then with a cloth dry bottom of strainer and place seed's on a drying paper like wax let dry well two to three months so there dry for storage this will make it so seeds don't mold and do tomatoes and ect. Don't buy seeds

Awesome channel! I'm trying to grow some squash this year, it will be my first time. I found a hybrid hubbard squash (basically a super small version of it) and a type of acorn squash. Our yard is super small so I'm hoping to get 2-4 plants and have a few to store in the winter. :) We aren't huge squash fans but they are nutritious so I am on the hunt for new recipes. Thank you for sharing!

Oft times, the right recipe can be a gamechanger for a certain "unliked" vegetable. Thanks for watching!

I know lids are in a bit of short supply but with chicken stock you could easily reduce them and store in 8oz jam jars. They would easily be diluted and could save a lot of space.

Very true. We have started seeing lids back on store shelves as of recent. But that concentrated stock idea is a really good one!!!
@Falcodrin

@@TheSeasonalHomestead the downside is the energy to concentrate it if you only ever use it as a fully dilute source.

I really enjoyed this video, please make more like this one. Plus I’m excited to watch the sour dough video. Thank you for making them! I always am looking for ideas for how to use the preserved food after preserving them. This hit the spot for me.
