The finished product is not a liquid consistency to be able to pipe with a bag. It’s more gelatinous and so it’s best for spreading

@@yvonnegonzales2558 not sure what you mean with “pre-mixed” meringue. You need the Royal icing that is already ready to use. It has more ingredients than just meringue powder.

No. The premixed Royal icing mix have other ingredients that make this recipe work with it. Icing sugar is just that, sugar.

Up until now there is no substitute. The reason this recipe works is because of the other ingredients that the royal icing mix already has.
